Chapter |15|~The Werewolves are Coming~
Unedited.
Embry POV.
As on cue, all hell break’s loose. Vampires are running from out of the airport dragging their humans behind them by their leashes. I don’t know if they are running towards us, or are running away in general. All I know is that millions of vampires are running, resembling bees swarming from out of a beehive when it is knocked down from off the top of a tree.
It’s absolutely, nerve-racking.
My heart rate increases in speed, beating uncontrollably.
“They have breached the City,” says Marko, as he approaches Cyrus. Who has breached the city?
“Get her to safety,” barks my mate as he hands me over to one of his Toy Soldiers. What? He can’t be serious. He can’t possibly be thinking about leaving me.
“No,” I start to scream and attempt to break free from the toy soldier holding me. “You can’t leave me,”
My attempt is useless. The toy soldier is restraining me with ease.
“Take her back to my penthouse,” he orders and ignores me. “Marko, you are to escort and protect her by any means necessary.”
I’m still going crazy, trying my absolutely best to break free. “Even if you have to protect her from herself,” Cyrus barks louder, and then he’s gone, just like that he disappears.
Meanwhile, I’m still going crazy like a madwoman inside of the Toy Soldiers' arms.
“Cut it out,” says the toy soldier who’s restraining me.
“Let me go,”
“Put the bitch to sleep,” hisses another toy soldier as the one that’s holding me shoves me in the back of one of the SUVs.
I continue to kick and scream. I’m seconds away from clawing my way out of this.
My wolf starts to panic within me. She’s seconds away from breaking free. The neglect from our mate is slowly driving her to the brink of insanity. He’s supposed to be here with us. It’s danger on the horizon. We can sense it. Something big is about to go down.
The other door opens and the vampire by the name of Marko slides in. By the look of things, he’s just as unhappy about being here with me as I’m unhappy about him being here with him, despite his good looks.
I just want my mate.
The moment he shuts the door the truck speeds off. He pulls out a gun and sits it directly onto his lap, gaining my attention and completely silencing me.
“We can do this the easy way or the hard way, either way, you’re going to calm the fuck down and tell me exactly who you are,” he growls a time and my wolf growls at him inside of my head.
Whichever one of the toy soldiers that’s driving has a need for speed, driving like a bat flying out of hell. The buildings we pass flash across my parallel vision in a blur. There is a sea of vampires running in inhuman speed all throughout the city. Black SUVs are the only other cars on the road and toy soldiers are crouched down in front of each truck, kneeling on their knees with huge freaking guns.
There is so much going on around me but my wolf is focusing on two things. Marko Polo and his gun!
She’s not taking his threat lightly. I’m more concerned about his tone than his choice of words. Remember my motto: tone is everything, and he sounds deadly! My eyes zero in on the pistol sitting inside of his lap, and then they scan over his shaky hands.
Why is Marko Polo shaking?
“He’s bluffing,” the answer’s my wolf. She has been a lot more theatrically than usual. “Let me at him! Let me at him,” she hisses.
See what I mean. She’s not taking this life-threatening experience seriously. That’s one major problem that all Wilde wolves seem to have.
They believe that they are invincible. Well, not I! I’m over here freaking out.
“Let me out Embry,” begs my wolf. “I promise that no harm shall come to us.” I push her to the back of my mind. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
“Are you finished,” questions Marko, while he looks me over skeptically.
“I- I-,”
“Was just talking to your wolf.” He says while picking the gun up, cocking it back and then aiming it in a horizontal angle, slightly pointing it in my direction. My stomach suddenly sinks and my heart rate increases rapidly. It’s beating like, dun, dun, dun. It’s really a freighting experience.
“You better put a muzzle on the bitch,” he warns, “or I will.”
“I got you, bitch,” she shouts inside of my head, literally giving me a mental headache. I’m using all of my brainpower to block her out, concentrating.
“Let me let you in on a little secret, dog,” hisses Marko, breaking my focus. My wolf growls inside of my head viciously. She’s two-point-five seconds from breaking free. “I know your kind. You’re a Wilde wolf, right? The lost daughter,” He interrogates, shocking me.
How did he know who I was? And why did he call me the lost daughter...
“More like, why does it matter,” my wolf snaps at me. She’s really starting to go off.
The moment those words leave his mouth the two toy soldiers in the front seat placed their eyes onto me. For a second, the car is in an eerie silence. They are all waiting for my answer. My heart is still beating frantically. For the life of me, I can’t seem to open my mouth and speak.
My wolf, on the other hand, is going off inside of my head.
“Answer me,” he roars, nearly jumping out of his seat, dropping the gun down in the process.
My heart stops. My wolf starts to claw her way to the front. By the second, she’s becoming more and more aggressive. I’m really scared that she will eventually take over. If she does things will go from bad to worst! I’ve never felt her behave like this.
Marko monster is also clawing his way to the front. I can feel his demonic presence lingering.
His patience is running short. “I said, answer me,” He hisses, flying over the seat and firmly yanking me by my hair.
“No, please don’t,” my lips quake and my entire body is shaking. My wolf is desperately trying to break free. I won’t let her.
“Marko,” calls out one of the toy soldiers from the front. “The King said,”
“Mind your fucking business,” spits Marko. “Do your fucking job and I’ll do mine!” He backs at them while pushing a button to activate a window that prevents the two soldiers from seeing what’s going on back here, fully blocking them off. “Drive faster,” he instructs, hitting the back of the window.
If I thought the car was zooming before I was far from wrong the car minds well be flying.
“Embry the gun,” my wolf hisses inside of my head. “If you are not going to let me out take the gun,” she growls loud. My eyes immediately slides to the gun. It’s on the floor directly in front of my feet. All I have to do is reach down and grab it. I won’t shoot him. He may actually die and then I will never forgive myself. But maybe I can scare him off.
“Don’t you even think about,” yells Marko yanking me harder by my hair. A whimper escapes my lips. “I’ll drain you quicker than you can blink.” He warns, hissing directly into my eardrum as an effect I shiver. And I’m shaking so much. I know it looks like I’m going to be sick.
“Please, please,” I start to plead with quivering lips. “Please don’t hurt-”
“Do you see that,” he asks, letting my hair go and pointing to the window he just made roll-up. My eyes slowly follow his finger. “I asked you a question,” he hisses.
I quickly nod in response.
“That window is supernatural soundproof, which means that they can’t hear us, and we can’t hear them. That means we can speak freely. Do you understand?” He asks.
I stare at him wide eye and nod my head. Yes, I very much understand what he’s saying.
If the window is really soundproof that means he can drain me and no one will nothing. No one can save me.
“They wouldn’t save us anyway,” points out my wolf. She’s right! Were on our own. “Our mate should be here,” she points out again. “This is his fault!” At this point, I don’t know who is scaring me the most.
Marko Polo the strange vampires who is currently watching me have a conversation with my wolf or my actual wolf. The constant bitterness inside of her voice is totally freaking me out.
“Why haven’t you shifted into your wolf yet,” Marko suddenly questions. His question catches me by surprise, taking the attention off my inner beast. Why would he want me to shift? Is that what this is about! Does he want to fight me?
“Please,”
“Just answer the fucking question,” This time his tone is softer and his words come out in rush. “In fact, I asked you many questions. But it’s really important that you answer one, who are you?”
“King Cyrus Chosen,” I calmly reply, but on the inside, I’m still freaking out. I’m really, really freaking out. “I’m his slave,” I try to sound convincing. “Nothing more,”
Marko’s head rolls back and laughter explodes from his mouth. It’s not a joyful laugh or one of those I’m so happy to laugh. No! It’s one of this I’m going to blow out your brains laugh, making me swallow the lump that suddenly invades my throat.
“Do you take me as a fool,” questions Marko.
“No, Sir,” crazy maybe! But Marko Polo is certainly far from a fool.
“So don’t give me that I’m King Cyrus Chosen bullshit,” spits Marko Polo as he continues to interrogate me. You’re a fucking wolf,” he almost shouts, grabbing another fist full of my hair. This time my wolf is at the surface breaking free and making her presence known. She’s really starting to lose her shit.
I’m trying my best to keep her at bay. “Keep Calm, please,” I reason. “I got this,”
“1 minute,” she starts to count down with a growl. Oh, snap! Suddenly, my senses are suddenly becoming sharper and stronger than they already are. I can hear the two toy soldiers talking through the supposed to be supernatural soundproof window.
“The Werewolves are Coming,” I hear one of them say.
“What is your name,” Marko continues with his interrogation, regaining my attention. Suddenly there is an intense heat arising inside of my chest. The fire within is burning brightly. It’s unbearably overwhelming.
“40 seconds,” viciously snarls my wolf. My nails are shifting from finger to claws. Marko Polo is so worried about me answering his stupid questions. He doesn’t even realize what’s happening before his very eyes. I can vividly imagine my gray and white wolf pacing back and forth on four legs inside of me. She’s more than ready to blow off some steam.
“I said what’s your name,” this time he whispers, and the car seems to increase in speed.
“20 seconds,“she hisses. My head is officially spinning. This is too much. I think I’m going to be sick. “I’m Embry,” I tell him what he wants to hear, hoping that he will back off. Even though, he already knows my name.
So I really don’t understand his motives, but if all he wants for me is to say my name. I say my name fucking name!
“Please, listen to me! I’ll tell you all you want to know, just please let go of me, for your sake, “I warn him.
Images of all the violent things that my wolf wants to do to him flickers at rapid speed inside of my head. Another intense heatwave of raw emotions hits my stomach and I immediately try to reason with her inside of my head.
She harbors a lot of anger and is currently experiencing intense pain from the rejection.
“Please, allow me to handle this!”
“5 seconds,” responds my wolf.
“What is your full name,” he pushes, pulling my hair harder and officially setting his fate.
“My name is Embry Wilde,” I growl in an animistic voice as my vision shifts drastically.
My wolf is officially free!
“Now that we’re properly introduced how about we have some little fun, shall we?”
