Chapter 217 A Perfect Match
Sylvester raised an eyebrow, surprised that he was being doubted. "It exists if you believe it," he replied, nonchalantly.
He casually held Lela's hand with his right hand, smiled, and thought, 'Lela is here. How could it be an unreal place? She belonged to this place.'
Sylvester seemed to feel Lela's gaze. He turned around. His deep amber eyes met Lela's silver eyes. He chuckled lightly, lowered his head to get closer to Lela, and whispered, "Do you like watching your man so much?" He thought, 'Does she know how pretty she looks now?'
Lela playfully demanded a hug from him. Sylvester wrapped his arms around Lela's back and picked her up as if she were a little bear. Their foreheads touched, and his voice was alluring and deep. "You just like watching me like this? Huh?" he teased.
Lela lifted her lips and delicately cupped his handsome face with her slender and soft hands. "Yes, because you are handsome," she replied, coyly.
"Ha-ha!" Sylvester chuckled lowly, and asked, "How handsome?"
Lela did not answer but softly said, "Sylvester, do you think we are a good match? Even our eye colors match so well."
Sylvester was her man, and she was his woman for a lifetime.
There was a hint of pride and joy in her tone.
Sylvester kissed the corner of her mouth and responded, "If you think so, then we are a perfect match."
...
Trenton watched it and felt a twinge of envy.
He thought, 'I'm still single. Could they at least consider my feelings?'
He looked at Mildred beside him and reached out to put his arm on his shoulder. "Mildred, it must be not easy for you," Trenton said, insinuating something. Mildred smirked and replied, "No, I've become immune to it."
...
Suddenly, a gust of wind blew in as everyone waited for the people in the valley to come out to pick them up. It carried a murderous aura.
With a loud "bang," Sylvester, being perceptive, sensed that something was wrong and immediately pulled Lela to lie on the ground. They rolled several circles. A bullet grazed past them and hit the car tire.
Sylvester protected Lela's head with his hands, pressing her down on the ground. His tone was full of worry. "Lela, are you okay?" he asked.
Lela shook her head, and replied, "I'm fine, Sylvester."
Sylvester pulled Lela up, and a cold, harsh light flashed through his amber eyes...
The first shot missed the target. Soon, several more shots were fired. Everyone became cautious, their eyes sharp and vigilant. They narrowly avoided the bullets. The atmosphere was thick with tension and worry...
Sylvester protected Lela. A small handgun appeared in Lela's hand. She skillfully loaded the gun. The whole action was swift and cool, and her eyes were filled with fierceness.
Suddenly, a figure flashed by...
This time, Trenton was well-prepared. He picked up his assault rifle and started shooting in the direction of the incoming bullets while saying with concern. "Mr. Gomez, step back." Sylvester pulled Lela back while taking out his handgun and shooting toward one of the enemies. Someone fell silently.
The opponents were numerous. They came in a pincer attack formation, and their firepower was intense.
Some of Sylvester's bodyguards were injured, but the most urgent issue was that the tanks of their military off-road vehicles were all broken, and they couldn't return the same way they came... The smell of gasoline permeated the air through the breeze. It was intense and horrifying.
Trenton was shocked. "Let's scatter quickly," he suggested, urgently.
The car was about to explode, and it would surely have a wider impact.
They could see that their enemies intended to cut off their retreat...
