Chapter 25 What's Next
So, reluctantly, I left the bed and took a quick shower and got dressed.
I went down to the kitchen, and while everything in the fridge had spoiled, the pantry still had some food, so I went about making pancakes and started the coffee.
Shortly after, Nate came up behind me and wrapped my arms around my waist.
"Good morning, beautiful," he rasped into my ear.
I giggled and kissed him. I never realized how much fun playing house could be!
Becky and Ethan came down stairs and joined us.
"So, what are we going to do?" I asked.
"I don't actually have any proof, but I'm pretty sure Jack bought and paid for this place to keep you two in while you were babies. So, if you want, and are still comfortable with it, we can stay here," Nate stated.
"Yeah, Mom and Dad... I mean, whoever they were, actually had the deed to the house in a lock box in the office," Ethan said.
"That would definitely make it easier than finding a new place to live!" I chimed in. "Plus, I love this house. It's basically a mini mansion!"
"Your room was beautiful, by the way, Melissa! I love all the bright loud colors!" Becky giggled.
"I've got a scholarship to put me through school. I'm going to try to be a doctor..." Ethan laughed. "We'll see how long that lasts!"
"I'd like to do something with my hands," said Nate. "Since I can't earn a living being the New Queen's Mate, maybe I could get a job in construction for a while."
"What do you mean New Queen?" I asked confused.
"Well, your parents died shortly after you were born. Or at least that was the rumor that was going on around that time. They just disappeared. So, that makes you the new Queen, since you were born first," Nate smiled down at me.
"So, does that make you King?" I laughed.
"Only if you want. I will always be your defender, but King or Queen is only given if the ruling party wants their mate to rule with them," Nate spoke softly.
"Well, then, my King. I couldn't think of a more noble man to help me rule than you," I said honestly.
Then I thought of something. "What does that make Ethan?"
Nate looked over at Ethan. "Our world doesn't have dukes and things like that. Ethan is still a prince, and the only person who has more power than him is you. If anything happens to you, he will be the king. If you happen to have an heir, or multiple heirs," Nate chuckled "Then he will live out his life as prince. But he is over the army, which, by the way Ethan, is gonna be a big job. Since you are going to have to go seek them out and bring our kingdom back together. I would be honored to help you find our lost fae, if you wish it."
"Wow! I didn't even think about that! We have to bring everyone back, now that the magic is flowing freely agian. I can even feel it. It's like a hum through my body," Ethan looked slightly shocked. Then he smiled at Nate, "You two need to start your honeymoon. In a month, we will, Lissa and I, both be 18. Then we can leave the girls here to take care of business, since Becky still technically has to go to school. But, you and me will go on an adventure to bring back all the fae."
"Sounds like a plan!" Nate smiled down and kissed me before I could argue.
So that's how this is gonna work, huh?
