Chapter 16 Brother And Sister Chat
"Hey Lissa," Ethan whispered. "How are you feeling?"
"Ethan," I choked. "I can't have Ben! I don't want Ben! I love Nate," I sobbed, as I flung my arms around my brother's neck. He'd always been there for me, even when he didn't agree with what I was doing. He just loved me!
"I know, Lissa. He loves you too. At the time you were too busy puking your guts out, but Nate's heart shattered into a million pieces the moment Jack announced you were to be Ben's mate. Not only that, but he was about to tear Jack's head off when he mentioned off spring," Ethan chuckled.
I growled at my brother.
He just smiled. "Don't get me wrong, I think you and Nate will be great parents... As long as Ben doesn't take the honor himself."
"Ethan, there is something I need to tell you, remember?"
"Yeah, I kinda gathered that when Ben was trying to murder your boyfriend," he said suddenly serious.
"Do you remember the story the first night? The one Jack told about a warrior coming to free the magic?" I asked desperately.
"Yeah, what about it?" he asked. I could tell he was confused and trying to figure out where I was going with this.
"Nate was the warrior!" I grabbed Ethan's shirt and practically shook him like a rag doll.
He looked at me like I was a loon for a moment, then he started cracking up, and I was wondering if he was the loon.
Ethan looked at me with a big dopy grin and asked, "So, if Nate was the warrior sent to come rescue magic, and he got trapped in a bubble, then my sister has been makin' out with some old fairy!"
I slapped him up side the head! "He's immortal, dummy! Plus the way this magic seems to work, he really hasn't seemed to age much since he got trapped here. And BTW, this isn't a bubble we are in. It's actually and alternate universe, which is why Jack needed so much magic and has continued to use the magic of the campers... And from his story tonight, it sounded like he's using blood magic! Which is feakin' creepy! We need to get outta here!" I yelled in his face.
"I agree with you. We need to see Nate! Come to my cabin at free time tomorrow, before dinner. After dinner would be too much of a risk of people seeing you two together. No one uses the cabins at free time. It should be safe. And since you "belong to Ben" now, I'll get the message to your boy toy to have us meet there," he smiled at me.
"So, how are you and Becky?" I ask with a smirk.
"Don't think I don't know exactly why you threw us together! You wanted to distract me so I wouldn't be watching you and Nate 24/7. And just for your information, it worked. Thank you, very much. I've never been more grateful for anything in my life! In fact, I am very happily distracted! If we ever figure out a way out of here, I'm taking her with me. Maybe some day she will be my mate," he said with a wink.
"But what about her parents?" Sure, I liked Becky, but she was too young to run away from her parents.
"Okay, what I tell you can't go farther than just us, kay?" he asked all serious.
"Sure, lay it on me Twix!"
"Becky is an orphan, and the people she was staying with were abusive to her. She was planning on running away after camp finished this fall anyway. This way, we can all be one big dysfunctional family!" he winked at me.
I laughed.
"Okay! So, Becky comes with! Just so you know, I wouldn't have thrown her at you if I didn't have a good feeling about her," I said.
"I know. And I've never been happier with one of your spontaneous decisions! I swear, I'm in love with the girl! The problem is, if she stays here much longer, there won't be much left of her. We all need to leave, and soon! Then you and Nate can work on all those babies Jack was wanting," he chuckled.
My body burned red! Yes, I wouldn't mind working on a baby army with Nate...
Ethan put his arm around me and helped me up.
"Come on, Lissa. Let's get you back to your cabin so you can rest... Maybe I can say goodnight to Becky while I'm at it," his eyes twinkled.
"Don't forget about our meeting tomorrow during free time!" I reminded him of what was important... which meant coming up with a plan and freeing everyone.
"I'll be there. Its my cabin, after all!" he joked. "Also, don't forget, you officially belong to Ben now. Just be careful!"
"Don't remind me. I may just up chuck all over again!"
