Chapter 21
Alexia's POV
As two days passed, Emma's still bedridden, in her groundless coma.
Everything's been upside down since then; Besides me, Landon and his family's been switching who'd spend the day and night with Emma's unconscious body, in the hope of her waking up soon.
During one of the switchings, I met Aaron, Amanda's mate. Yes, I'd never thought I'd meet Landon's dad under such terrible circumstances but fate does the unexpected right?
"Hey." Amanda breathes as she enters the iodoform scented room.
Before I could even mutter a reply to her, I let out a yawn.
"Why don't you rest for some time with Landon? It's almost eight and you haven't had either dinner nor a good night rest since..."
She didn't continue that sentence.
"Maybe I should," I said, stumbling to quickly get out of the room; still feeling the reason for what happened to her.
The distress and all that she's going through, watching her daughter helplessly as she spends her time in wonderland, where no one can disturb her.
"Alexia...Never mind..." She said, just right before I closed the doors behind me.
I didn't want to stay another second in that room with Amanda or the body lying in bed. Both things ended up giving me the eerie yet wretched feeling that everything that has been happening up till now has a way or another to be linked to me.
When I reached the bedroom, I went ahead and took a shower. Getting rid of the unpleasant smell, I wrapped a towel around my body as I forgot to bring a change of clothes with me.
Just when I opened the bathroom door, Landon was drying his hair; he probably took a shower in another bathroom as I took mine.
All of the recent events made me almost emotionless: When I got here at first, I couldn't stand the idea of taking any undergarments out of the wardrobe when someone's in the room with me but now, I'm not even embarrassed while standing only in a towel. A not so tall one may I say as well...
Completely avoiding eye-contact with him, After I changed into comfortable clothes, I went to my side of our bed to try and to sleep.
"Alexia..." Landon whispered. I don't know if it was meant for me to hear not; it was too low, too broken...
He sighed, wrapping his arms around me as he settled down beside me. I've missed his heartwarming scent, he was like a cure to me at all times.
"I'm sorry," I mumbled.
I have this aching feeling to apologize to him and his pack. Since I came here, I only brought catastrophes with me.
"Why do you keep apologizing?"
"Because I'm a walking disaster."
"No, you're not. You're my mate, my beautiful disaster."
Frustrated, I sat up,
"Stop playing with my feelings. I must be the real reason for all of your problems!"
As he sat up too, both hands on my cheeks, he held me firmly yet softly and do you know what he did after that? He painfully collided his forehead with mine.
"What the hell!" I snarled, white dots blinding my sight.
"I hope this actually manages to start your brain screws again." He mumbled.
"Are you kidding me?" I glared at him.
Start my brain screws? Did the lack of sleep spoil his brain or what?
"Landon, Lexi, Come here quickly, Emma is awake!"
Noah's voice screeched in the mind link but, we didn't care as we ran to the pack hospital where we last left Emma.

.
.
"How are you feeling now, Em?"
"What? Do you think I'm gonna die just like that?
How am I gonna get ranked as your best sister if I don't torment you till the second you die?" She smirked at her pale-faced brother.
When she turned to look at me, her face turned red.
"Are you perhaps mad at her?" Landon glancing between me and his sister, cutting the glaring I was receiving from her.
"Are you two kidding me! I've been out for almost three days and you two have been doing what? Looking after me! Please tell me that you two did the deed at least once while I was out, I want to be an aunt soon." She wined the last part.
"Well, I guess that means she's back, can we go back now? I wanna sleep with you." Landon mutters.
"I can hear you ya know? That's pretty mean since I just woke up from a coma." She huffed.
Ironically, Noah and Landon rolled their eyes at her drama to which I elbowed Landon in his side while sending daggers at Noah.
"Well since you are finally awake Emma, we would like to get some sleep if you excuse us." He huffed, opening the medical room's door, waiting for me and Landon to follow.
"When you have the energy to have a chat, tell me. I'd like to talk with you." I said, dragging Landon with me towards Noah.
Emma muttered a "sure thing" as we left her with her parents to spoil her with their love and protection.
Protection is something nice. Landon gave me a warm and safe sense when I'm with him. I smiled at the thought of him as we walked back to have some rest.

Third person's POV
Back to the witch's slaves, the older one seemed to be out.
Probably doing more of the witch's dirty work. She seemed to make him do that a lot.
The younger one though spent the majority of his notebook's space in writing. His older brother got it for him on his tenth birthday which now doesn't seem that it will get a tiny bit of dust on.
"What are you doing little one." The witch said as she saw the little boy scribbling in his notebook.
"Drawing." He politely responded, putting his pencil down, correcting his body posture from sitting down to standing up; not wanting to sound rude to his mistress.
"Since I have nothing to do right now, I'll accompany you while you continue sketching. What are you drawing though little one?" She said softly asked, sitting on one of the chairs near the kid as she gestured to him to take a seat and continue what he was doing earlier.
Even though she seems to be wicked to many people, she does a good job taking care of her slaves especially the children. Providing them a comfortable home, food, clothes and almost everything they wish for. Just like a mother tending her beloved ones.
She asks them to do things for her and maybe evil deeds. She also might penalise them but she shall always take care of them no matter what she does or happens.
"Birds."
"Birds?" The witch questioned.
"Yes. They represent freedom."
"And how do they do that?"
"Birds can walk like werewolves, right? They can swim like fish too but they can fly!" He excitedly jumped, the corners of his lips lifted upwards. The way his one dimple crinkles. The way his baby teeth are perfectly aligned. The warm glow his happiness gives when he talked about freedom. His smile was a little ray of sunshine.
"Are you going to cry?" He questioned when he saw his mistress's eyes gather water.
The witch was so sad at that moment. The moment she heard about freedom from this child. Her child.
She thought about her life. Her slaves. Her tears.
"No."
"Then why are your eyes watery?"
"The world is a nasty place, my dear. I had a horrible past. It wronged me too."
"No, the world can be a nasty place. But don't worry, just look at what you have and be grateful, isn't that what you told me to do?" He cheekily smiled at her.
"Right." She sniffed before letting her tears slowly slide down her cheeks.
"Did he hurt you?"
"Who my dear?"
"Your mate...There's a faint scar on your cheek so I assume it's him..."
"Yes. He made me believe an illusion. An illusion meant for the mad..."
"What's that illusion?"
"Freedom."
"But freedom's real!" He tried to argue with her but, she shook her head in denial.
"There's always something that's going to hold you back. It will try to control you. It will make you believe you chose the right choice but the bitter truth is, you never chose anything from the start."
The little boy frowned at her response.
"Did you try to leave him?"
"Yes. I tried to look for that freedom until I realised that truth. There is nothing called freedom in this life."
It was the little boy's turn to shook his head in disbelief this time.
Someone's passed before she started to cry.
The tears burst forth like water from a dam, spilling down my face. I feel the muscles of my chin tremble like the small child in front of me. There is static in my head once more, the side effect of this constant fear, constant stress I live with. I hear my own sounds, like the distressed enchantress I am. Raw from the inside. It takes something out of me I didn't know I had left to give. Is it like this when people are hard? It's like theft of the spirit, an injury no other person can see. Is it like this to everyone?
The enchantress's thoughts spilled all over the place inside her mind. While she cried, the child stayed with her, soothing her until she stopped.
As she realised that it was the time for her to take her to leave, she made the child promise her not to utter a single word to anyone although he was almost alone in this cruel world.
She didn't use her magic to teleport near where she is supposedly residing this time. She took her time walking, thinking about her brutal past, present and probably her future.
She was in a war with this world. Who will win, her? Or will the odds change? She had been longing for her revenge to be done. Will she ever stop? Or will she make sure her plan is carried out till the very end?
If karma hits her and she dies, what will happen to her slaves? To her children? Will he be able to survive in the outside world alone?
She had been living in hell for too long to lose to children. Her children...
