I thought of what Lena once said-that everyone shows their truest, most primal side in bed, no matter how proper they seem. Was Hayden saying that to comfort me? To make me feel less embarrassed?
It didn't matter. I wasn't going to reply.
We pulled up to the apartment complex, and it was pitch black-no streetlights, no windows lit. The place felt completely deserted, like it had already been abandoned. Most of the residents had moved out since the building was about to be demolished, leaving it eerily quiet. As I sat there, lost in thought, Hayden got out of the car and walked around to my side, opening the door. Before I could step out, he scooped me up effortlessly.
