Chapter Broken: Epilogue

One year later

New Year’s Eve

Nathan wraps his arm around my waist. I smile up at him and ask, “Did he go back down okay?”

“Yeah. I think he just needed a cuddle from Dad,” he replies, beaming. He’s taken to fatherhood like he does to everything else—like he was born for the role. Seeing him with our son makes me fall in love with him a little more every single day.

He takes my hand in his and leans close, his lips pressed against my ear. “I believe we have somewhere else we need to be, Mrs. James.”

I glance around the room, which is full of Nathan’s family, along with Tyler and Ashley, who have been welcomed into the fold as warmly as I have. This is the annual James family New Year’s party, and I’m pretty sure it’s the only place we’re supposed to be. “What are you talking about?”

He winks at me. “Oh, you know.” Without waiting for my response, he pulls me out of the noisy party and guides me to a room a few doors down, pushing me inside.

I giggle as he closes the door behind us. “What are we doing in here?”

When he turns to face me, he has a wicked grin on his face. “Surely you’re not forgetting our tradition, corazón.”

My cheeks burn with heat. “Oh.”

“Oh.” His voice is a low, throaty growl, and he stalks toward me, already unfastening his belt. Sᴇaʀch Thᴇ FɪndNøvel.ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

“But our family is right down the hall.”

He shakes his head. “Nobody will come in here.”

I back away from him, fluttering my eyelashes as he follows me step for step. “They’ll wonder where we are if we’re not there at midnight.”

He unfastens his pants. “Don’t give a fuck.”

I bump into the wall and gasp as the cool plaster hits the warm skin of my back through the thin fabric of my dress. “But maybe I do. I’ll have to walk back in there with …” I sink my teeth into my bottom lip rather than finish the sentence.

“My cum dripping out of you?”

My cheeks burn hotter.

He takes another step forward and presses me against the wall. “I thought you were enjoying the party. If you’d prefer, I can take you to bed and fuck you there, but then we won’t be leaving it until morning. Your choice, but you’re getting fucked either way.”

I place my hands on his chest. “You’re so sure of yourself.”

“I told you where I’d be at midnight, Mel. Inside you. I can’t go back on that promise now. It could be bad luck.”

I wrap my arms around his neck and give a pensive nod. “I guess this has been a pretty good year. It makes sense to start this next one the same way.”

His face breaks into a grin. “Exactly.” He unzips his fly. “Take off your panties.”

A laugh bubbles from my lips. “I can’t.”

His handsome face furrows in a frown. “Why not?”

I press my lips at his ear. “Because I’m not wearing any.”

His animalistic growl turns my legs turn to jelly. “You are getting so fucked, Mrs. James.” He hitches up my dress with one hand and frees himself from his pants with the other. My legs wrap around his waist, and he presses the crown of his cock at my entrance and sucks in a breath. “Always ready for me, huh, corazón?”

“Always.”

He drives inside me, and I cry out at the exquisite feeling of being so full of him. “I’ll make this quick and take my time with you later.”

“I have to tell you s-something,” I pant as he nails me to the wall.

He slows his pace and presses his forehead against mine. “Does it have anything to do with why you’ve skillfully avoided drinking a drop of champagne all night?”

“You noticed?”

He runs his nose over my jawline and presses a kiss beneath my ear. “I notice everything about you, corazón. When did you find out?”

“This evening before dinner. I was going to tell you sooner, but Drake needed to speak to you about something, and then everyone was always within earshot. I want to keep it between us for now.”

He stares into my eyes. “You’re making me a dad again.”

I nod, unable to keep the smile from my face. “I sure am.”

“You’re so fucking incredible. I don’t know what the fuck I ever did to get so damn lucky in life.”

“You were born lucky,” I remind him.

He shakes his head. “None of this meant anything until you. I would give it all up in a heartbeat as long as I had you and our kids, Mel. I mean that.”

I place one hand on his cheek, and he presses his face into my palm. “I know you do.” Then I squeeze my inner muscles around his shaft, and his eyes roll back in his head as he grunts out a string of obscenities. “But you don’t have to give anything up. You can have it all, Nate.”

He rocks his hips, and wet heat sears in my core. “I already have it all, corazón.”

Yes, he does. And so do I.
