Chapter CHAPTER 12

SYBIL ADAMS

I call Ethan because Nellie is right, for me to hurt her the way I did means I’m not in my right state to be practising. An angry or sad or mad mind is not stable enough to do anything magic related and if you are me, a powerful young witch/werewolf/vampire all in one then it’s easy for an evil entity to posses me and take over.

Mom and dad are also not coping, my biggest bet is that Nala and Joy have my little brother, Ntando doesn’t just disappear without saying anything and nothing we have tried thus far has helped find him, my next best option would be to seek out help by practising dark magic but that’s not going to help me in the state I am in because the darkness has a way to consume you. Practising dark magic is like a state of depression, once you are inside that deep dark whole you begin to get comfortable and enjoy the darkness and find yourself wallowing in it and not wanting to get out of that state so it’s best that I don’t even start.

“Are you ok?” Ethan asks the minute I enter his car, I nod.

“I’m ok- no I’m not. My brother is missing and nothing we do to find him seems to work” I admit and he takes my hand into his and he kisses the back of my hand.

Something about being in the presence of Ethan has a calming effect on me, a mere meaningless gesture such as kissing my hand gives me hope that everything will fall into place when the time comes. I never understood if and I still don’t even now. We’ve only just started dating 3 months ago but he’s become my life in such a short space of time.

“When did he go missing?” he asks with concern, he’s met my little brother and they get along, I think Ethan and my father would also get along but my father is like any normal father and would not associate himself with my boyfriend.

“It’s been 2 days now. Nobody has seen him, it’s like he’s just disappeared off the surface off the earth and n- the cops are not doing anything to find him” I say having almost told him that none of my locator spells work. It was a close call, Ethan cannot know what I am for his own safety.

“I am sure wherever he is, whoever has him will return him safe and unharmed. Your little brother is sweet and very much lovable, nobody would dare to hurt him and also because your father is majorly scary so whoever tried to mess with you guys would never live to tell the tale” he jokes and I find myself giggling and rolling my eyes. “A giggle, we getting somewhere” he teases and then he pecks my nose with a soft kiss. “Ntando will be returned home, safe and unharmed”

MAX WALMER

I am grateful when Ethan gets a call from Sybil, I cannot afford to let another minute pass me by with whatever issues he is facing with Sybil. The only next best thing I can do is to tap into the dark magic in order to be able to save these people’s lives. I’m about to head down to the basement when there’s a knock on the door. I walk over and find Joy standing on the other side of the door, she’s dressed in black, looks stronger and more beautiful than the last time I saw her. Her hair is silky straight, she has black mascara and eyeliner on, her lipstick is matte black but it suits her perfectly. I don’t think a woman has ever possessed me and mesmerized me like Joy is right now. She smiles at me and I look at her amazed by this change and her smiling at me.

“What are you doing here?” I ask her and she raises an eyebrow and walks inside my house. I’m more stunned as to how she walks in without my protection charms hurting her unless the evil in her ceases to exist.

“That’s no way to greet your future wife” she says and she kisses my cheek. “How are you?” she asks and I still look at her stunned, she turns to me. “I see you confused, Max I know you have protections charms in your yard and if I were evil or came with malicious intent then I wouldn’t even be inside your house right now, your charms would have knocked me out of the yard” she says and then she turns on her heels. I guess she has a point.

“I managed to get away from my aunty but I don’t know how to unlink myself from her” she says, I squint my eyes looking at her and I can’t read her.

“I need you to help me unlink myself from her, we need to get to her before she hurts my sister and Sybil’s little brother” Joy says, for some reason I seem to be stuck in one spot trying to process everything. I walk over to her heading to the lounge behind her.

“I’m going to have to perform a cleansing on you because we don’t know what your aunty has done to you, maybe you feel fine and seem fine but who is to say that she didn’t manipulate you or your magic so that you could be able to manipulate me?” I ask and she shrugs innocently.

“There’s no time for that, tonight when the moon reaches it’s highest peak and is full she’ll perform the spell that will kill them all. We have to return to where she has everyone captured” she says and I grab my phone.

“Ok fine but we have to call Sybil, we can’t do this without her” I say as we head out, I call Sybil’s phone but reach her voicemail. The next option would be to drive to her parents house but then they wouldn’t allow me anywhere near their daughter. I click on Sibu’s contact and she answers.

“What do you want?” she asks.

“Sibu hi, I need your sister. I can’t seem to reach her phone”

“Cause she left it and went out with her boyfriend. What do you want with my little sister?” she asks angrily.

“She and I are working on something together. Please get her to locate me once she gets home” I say and end the call and turn to Joy who sits quietly starring outside the window.

“So where are we going?”

JOY LEIRIA

I have Max right where I want him, with Sybil preoccupied with her brother then this will be more easier than I expected it to be. When I got to Max’s yard, I felt the charms protecting his house but it wasn’t that hard to turn them off for a few minutes. A small spell to blind his ancestors long enough for me to get him out of the yard and to where I need him to be. Max is stronger when he is in his house because that is where his ancestors were buried.

We get to Nala’s layer and then he leads the way in hopes to protect me from my aunt, what a shame. We walk in further until we reach the basement, he steps in first and then I follow behind him, he foolishly steps into the circle where he gets trapped with the rest of the supernatural beings, I swipe my hand removing the spell that hides them all. Ntando is not in the same room nor is he linked to them. My magic only goes as far as cloaking him and restraining in but I can’t link him to the rest because he is too good and if I did link him to the others then everything would be ruined.

“Joy what’s going on?” Max asks banging on the circle that binds him inside.

“all I had to do was tell you what you wanted to hear to have you where I wanted to have you Max”
