Brawlii

Chapter 3

Day 18:

Again, there was a boring flight. Then, I had to find a little cottage to live in. To live in with Hiyyeth, that is. My plan failed. He met me at the exact landing spot where my jet was. He gave me a big smile when he saw me.

“Cold feet?” he asked with a smirk.

“Yes,” I told him, “that’s exactly it.” I was livid.

We spent the rest of the day looking for a small cottage. We found a two bedroom two bath little house to share. We each payed half for it. It was a handsome little house with vines covering it. There is beautiful plants all around it, and even a small garden. We both loved the house. Although I didn’t much care for what Hiyyeth liked.

Day 19:

Today we took a Madrid Segway Tour. It was absolutely brilliant. After that we decided to go sight seeing on our own. We went to Mercado San Miguel, a flea market.

“Should we grab something to eat Angile?” Hiyyeth asked.

“Sure,” I said walking away towards the center of the market.

“I wonder what the specialty dishes are here?” he thought aloud.

“Well, let’s find out. I like to eat. I know a lot of Brawlii don’t like to. I didn’t know you liked to,” I observed.

I decided to try paella de marisco, while Hiyyeth tried gazpacho. We even sampled a little of each others. Both dishes were delicious. We talked quite a bit and he told me about his little sisters. He has 6 of them. The oldest, and the only boy.

“So, there we were, right in front of the council. Then, little Juiopea asks the council if she can go pee.” I laughed very hard. Brawlii didn’t have to actually go to the bathroom. It was a new way of trying to get yourself out of sitting through a boring meeting. He continued to tell me all about his sisters. Finally, it was getting late. We decided to head for our little house.

“You seemed to have fun today, Angile,” Hiyyeth said, looking at me.

“It was alright, I would rather have been alone,” I told him. Only a little deceit in my voice.

“What do you have against me?” he asked sullenly.

“You are a pompous ass hole, as is all men, as is all people.”

“How would you know? You never spend any time around anyone.”

“I spend time around people every day.”

“How many of them do you actually talk to? Besides what’s necessary.”

“I don’t need to talk to anyone.”

“Why are you so scared to get close to anyone?”

“My family made me kill my only love!” I was yelling by then, I was furious.

“Do you know how ridiculous that is?! You killed him of your own accord!”

“You don’t know anything!”

“I know you never really loved anyone and you’re just a cold-hearted bitch!”

I had enough. I stormed off. I didn’t need that. He didn’t know anything about me. I didn’t return to the house until around 3 in the morning, and I went straight into my room.

Day 20:

I spent the first part of my day very upset. I wandered around Spain by myself until about two in the afternoon. I had just walked away from the flea market that I had visited yesterday when I bumped into a child of about 11 years.

“Excuse me Angile,” said the little child. I stared at him in shock, I had never met him before after all.

“That is quite alright child. What did you call me?” I inquired.

“Angile,” he replied calmly.

“And how do you know my name, when I do not know yours?” This was very strange.

“Perhaps we should talk in a more private setting. I have much to tell you,” he took my hand and led me away. I let him. I was curious, and in no hurry to find Hiyyeth. Although, something about the boy seemed oddly familiar to me.

“What is your name?” I asked him.

“Sit down.”

“I asked you a question.”

“But you’ll want to sit down before I tell you, or else you might fall,” he seemed completely serious. I did as he bid. I would humor him, after all, I never talked to anyone according to Hiyyeth.

“Name?”

“Crennik.”

“You insolent bastard! Who are you really?! You think you can fool me?!” I was yelling. He knew my name and he claimed his as Crennik. No two Brawlii ever had the same name. It was unheard of. Unimaginable. All names were written down in a book. I had to wonder who put him up to this.

“Please, calm down my love.”

“You’re love?” I was furious, “what kind of sick joke are you playing at?”

“This is not a joke. I am Crennik. I was re-incarnated.”

“You expect me to believe that?”

“I was hoping. I missed you so much. I knew you’d come to Spain for me, I just knew it.”

“I don’t believe this.” suddenly my body was wracked with pain. A pain of an emotional sort. My dear Crennik, back from the dead? I couldn’t begin to even hope..

“I can prove it,” his little face was solemn as he spoke. He reached his little hand out towards mine and gave it a slight comforting squeeze.

“How?”

“Ask me anything.”

“Anything?” I would ask him things that many people knew, then I would ask him things only my dear Crennik knew.

“Yes.”

“Where did we first meet?”

“Behind the oak tree in the centre plaza with both of our mothers.” Right.

“What did I always wear?”

“Breeches under your dress, that you always tried to hide.” Right.

“Why did I wear them?”

“They were more comfortable then just a dress.” RIght.

“What was the first thing I said to you?”

“You have beautiful eyes.” For the fourth time, he was right. Now, I was going to ask the harder questions.

“Each of the first three times we were alone, before you left you would do something. What was it?”

“The first time, I left the letter I in the sand. The second time, I carved the word love into a tree. The third time, I arranged the word you out of twigs. Then, the fourth time, I told you I loved you.” Wow. That was right.

“How did you spy?”

“I didn’t.” Fine. Then, I would ask him the one question no one but Crennik and I knew for sure.

“What is my secret?” there was no way he knew this one. No one but Crennik knew.

“Well,” he said then leaned really close to my ear and whispered, “you killed council member Svuccil Hyeelik for trying to touch you the wrong way.”

He was absolutely right. I looked at him with incredulous wonder.

“Cren..” there was much awe in my voice, I am sure.

“Yes Angi, it is me.”

He threw his arms around me and kissed all over my face. We sat there hugging for a long time.

“Oh, Cren! You must tell the council what really happened! You must tell Hiyyeth! You must! They think I killed you for no reason, when it was you who wanted me to kill you!” I felt like the little girl I used to be once again, in Crennik’s arms. He just had to tell everyone what really happened, they all thought I was a cold-blooded murderer. Which I was, but I didn’t murder Cren!

“I can’t. They’ll never believe me. And I can’t tell them what I told you to convince you, or else you’ll be prosecuted for Svuccil’s murder. Remember, they don’t know you did it.” Looking at his face, I suddenly didn’t care. It didn’t matter to me what anyone thought of me. I had my Crennik now, and that was all that mattered.

“Oh, I love you Crennik.”

He stroked my face gently.

“I love you too, Angile.”

Day 21:

The day was spent in pure bliss. I loved every moment with it. Hiyyeth slunk off somewhere and I spent the day with my beloved Crennik. Well, up until about 6 in the evening that is. He claimed he had to go, and promised to see me soon. I decided to go back to the little house. Hiyyeth was waiting for me.

“Why do you look so happy?” he demanded.

“Oh, I met a wonderful man,” I said dreamily.

“Who?”

“None of your business.”

“Yes it is, I live with you.”

“That does not make it any of your business.” I walked away into my room, I felt like I was floating on air.

I agreed to go to dinner with him at 8 that night. We went and I believe we both had a lovely time. At first I could think of nothing but my beloved Crennik, then Hiyyeth soon distracted me. By the time we got back I had completely forgotten about Crennik. Then with a start I remembered him, and I immediately felt guilty for forgetting for even a little while.

The days seem to be going by so fast. It’s already been 21 days. Three chapters. I wonder if the chapters after this will be filled with many more days of Crennik and I. I sure hope so.
