Bound to Kill

Chapter 15

Alexa

Darius is kind enough to let me have my fun first. I enter the cell, expertly twirling my favourite blade while Darius remains in the corner. His presence alone is unsettling, evident by the sweat on Paul’s brow.

I squat in front of Paul. “Hello, Paulie. Can I call you Paulie?”

He snarls at me, hatred clear on his face. “No!”

“So, Paulie, a little housekeeping.”

Clenching my right hand into a fist, I throw as much weight into my punch as this position allows. The impact makes him grunt; a mixture of nasty spit and blood flies from his mouth.

“That’s for my dad!”

I smash him again, enjoying how his face scrunches up in pain.

“That’s for hurting my mate!”

A muffled cry escapes him as my fist makes contact for a third time.

“That’s for Hunter!”

Smack.

“That’s for Kayleigh!”

His one good eye widens in surprise. The other is swollen shut.

“Ahh!” he cries as I smack his swollen eye.

I smile. That’s gotta hurt. “That’s for me!”

My fist slams into the jaw Darius already broke, earning a shriek.

“And that’s just for the fun of it.”

Blood dribbles from his nose and mouth. His nose is crooked, and his jaw beautifully bruised. Content, I sigh and stand. “I don’t know about you, but I feel better already.”

Paul glares and spits blood in my direction. I sidestep out of the way, clutching my invisible pearls. “Didn’t your mother teach you any manners, Paulie?” I gasp.

“Fuck you!”

“In your dreams.” Smirking, I use his jeans to clean his blood from my fist. “Now, where was I?” Tapping my chin, I pause for dramatic effect before looking at my blade. “Oh, now I remember.” Swinging it near his face like a pendulum, I admire the intricate markings on the shiny silver dagger, then point it at his eye. “Who is Theo?”

Paul smiles; the teeth he has left are smeared with blood. “Never heard of him.”

Tutting, I slowly slice open his shirt, making him flinch. He tugs on his chains, gritting his teeth when the silver bites into his wrist.

“Each time you refuse to answer me, I will unleash a world of hurt. I’m hoping for silence.” Sliding my blade over his nipple, I cut it off. His answering scream soothes my aching heart. Looking over my shoulder, I smile at Darius. “Love when they’re a screamer.” His mouth twitches, amusement flaring through the bond. When Paul’s scream dies down to a whimper, I ask again, “Who is Theo?”

Nostrils flaring, he glares. Drool and blood dribble down his chin. "Suck. My—”

Before he finishes, my fist slams into his mouth, bursting his lip. While he groans and spews profanities at me, I remove his shoe and step on his right foot, keeping it in place. I position my blade over his pinky toe.

“No, no, no, please, don’t!”

His grovelling is music to my ears. Using my body weight, I push my blade downward. It slices through Paul’s pinky like a hot knife through butter. Blood spurts over my leather jumpsuit. More shrieks echo through the dungeon.

As he settles, I ask again, “Theo! Who is he?” He remains silent. I speak with Darius through our link. He’s got more balls than I gave him credit for.

He’s running out of steam. You almost have him, Darius says with confidence.

Pausing, I consider what body part to claim next. Maybe an ear? Yeah, that works. Paul squeals as I remove his left ear. Blood coats his white shirt and pools beneath him—seeping into the cracks—travelling toward Darius.

“Who. Is. Theo?” I growl through gritted teeth. When he fails to answer, I place my blade on his remaining nipple.

And he sings like a canary. “Alright! Stop! I’ll talk.” A bubble of bloody snot hangs from his nose, turning my stomach. I try not to look directly at it. “He’s my cousin. A witch. I haven’t seen him for a long time, but he helped me when I got exiled from Shadow Creek.” After a shaky breath, he continues. “We’ve become close since then. He looks out for me. It was his idea for me to challenge Lakesides’ Alpha.”

My growl ends his rambling. “Where can I find him.”

“I-I don’t know. Theo moves around and changes his number a lot.”

“Who are you working with from Shadow Creek?”

It’s hard to tell with his face swollen and covered in blood, but he looks confused. “No one.” I raise my blade again, making him screech in panic. “I’m telling the truth, I swear! I don’t have any contacts in Shadow Creek.”

Truth. “Then who is your cousin Theo in contact with?”

“I don’t know, h-he never told me, just said he was keeping an eye on things for me.”

For fuck’s sake, he’s bloody useless! I say to Darius.

I hear the smirk in his voice. Some things never change.

I’ll need my hacker to look into Theo.

“Give me your cousin’s number. And what’s his last name?”

Sniffing, he replies, “It’s Murray. I don’t know his number. Like I said, he changes it a lot. The last number he called from is in my phone.”

My mum took his phone on the drive here to look for clues.

“Please, I’ve told you everything you wanted to know. Let me go,” Paul pleads. “I’ll disappear. You won’t hear from me again.”

Darius prowls toward Paul and finally speaks, his voice eerily calm, giving me chills. “Like you let Kayleigh go? After you killed so many of my packmates?”

“I... that was... wait, I didn’t hurt her. I love her!”

Darius roars as he throws a right hook. Paul’s head bounces off the concrete wall; more blood sprays, covering Darius’ leather jacket. Once again, Paul is out cold.

I sigh. “Well, we won’t get anything else for a while.”

“We should just kill him. Be done with it,” Darius snarls.

“Nothing would make me happier. But until we find Theo and the traitor, we need Paul alive.” I give him a peck on the cheek. “I’m gonna shower and send Theo’s number to my hacker.”

“I’ll stay here for a while; see if I can get more information from Paul when he stirs.”

I leave the cell. “Okay, let me know if you need me.”

As I make my way out of the dungeon, I feel Darius’ eyes on me. “Get some rest, little wolf. That’s an order.”

Exiting the tunnel, I head upstairs, mind-linking my response. Sure thing, boss!

I can show you who’s boss when I come to bed, mate.

Heat materialises in my core as I picture being dominated by him between the sheets. I feel how thrilled he is with my reaction.

I’ll see you soon, little wolf.

Covered in blood after a torture session, and my panties are soaked. There’s no bigger turn-on for wolves than being bathed in your enemy’s blood.

Heading straight for the bathroom, I turn on the shower and strip. The room quickly fills with steam. Stepping under the spray, I groan as the hot water works out the tension in my body. After drying, I throw on sweats and head to the room down the hall where Darius set my mum.

She opens the door when I knock. “Hi honey, how did it go?”

“We still don’t know who the traitor is, but my hacker might be able to find out when I give him Theo’s number,” I say while entering the room. “Did you find anything helpful on the phone?”

Her face falls, revealing the answer before she speaks. “No, sorry.” Mum hands me Paul’s cell.

“Was worth a shot.” I find Theo’s number and call my hacker.

He answers on the first ring. ”What’s the story?"

"Hey, buddy. Can you look into one more person for me? His name is Theo Murray. The number is 484-726-2632. Hack his cell, search for correspondence regarding the Shadow Creek Pack.”

“Alright, I’ll crack on.”

I can already hear him tapping away on his keyboard. ”Did you find anything on the Agent?”

“Still working on that gobshite."

Laughing. I say, ”Theo takes priority."

"Grand.”

"Thanks. Speak soon.”

With one monster down and the wheels in motion for the other two—I relax a little. It’s been a productive night.

Sitting on the bed, we spend the next hour catching up. She never stopped searching for me. Life hasn’t been easy for either of us. Maybe finding each other is the start of the healing process. My chest already feels lighter.

“We should both get some rest. I’ll see you in the morning.” She walks me to the door, wrapping me in a bear hug before I leave. “Thanks for your help tonight. We couldn’t have done it without you, Mum.”

She pulls back and looks at me with admiration. “You’re welcome! I’m so proud of you, Lexi! And so grateful to have you back in my life.”

“I’m glad, too. Night, Mum.”

“Goodnight, sweetie!”

When I enter Darius' bedroom, the lack of a tug in my chest lets me know he isn't back yet. I strip bare, then slip into one of his white shirts, leaving the buttons undone. I lay on the duvet. Darius will be feral after spilling Paul's blood. A thrill of excitement runs through me as I anticipate him finding me like this. Tonight, we'll get lost in each other.
