Bound by the CEO’s Baby By Sun Scar Chapter 41
Chapter 41
He heard a noise from inside the room. He hesitated to enter. He didn’t want Ana to think he would barge into her room without being invited. “Ana?” he yelled.
“Damien?” Her voice sounded wrong.
“Are you okay?” he questioned.
“No.”
“Can I come in?” When she responded, he slowly opened the door. She was on the bed, her face pale and her hair sticking to her face. “What happened?” he asked, rushing over to her.
“I think I caught the flu from Alan.”
“Why didn’t you call anyone?”
“I don’t want to move.”
Damien sighed. “Okay, I will help you sit up.”
Ana groaned. “You’re gonna get sick if you come near.”
“Don’t worry about me. I am going to hold you, okay?”
Anastasia nodded slightly. It was more of a flopping of her head, though. He wrapped his arm around the back of her shoulder and slowly lifted her. He expected her to weigh more than she did. Ana didn’t move as he readjusted her so that she was comfortable.
He pulled the covers over her and went to out to the attached bathroom to get some lukewarm water and a cloth. She didn’t move and Damien had to adjust her after he had taken her temperature.
He ran the cloth over her face and neck. After she looked a little less sweaty, Damien went down to the kitchen to grab some water for her. When he was heading back to her room, Alan wandered out. He rubbed his eyes and looked at his father. groggily.
“I’m hungry,” he yawned.
“I know, kiddo. Mommy’s not feeling very good. As soon as I help her, you and I will make some breakfast, okay?”
Alan nodded.
“Watch some cartoons and I will be right there.” Damien saw Alan drag his feet and a stuffed toy down the hallway to the living room. He knocked on Ana’s bedroom door again but she didn’t answer.
“Ana, I got some water for you to drink.” He entered and ran the washcloth over her face again.
“I can’t. Too tired.”
He held her head properly with one hand and put the glass to her lips. She took a tiny sip before turning her head away.
“I’m going to make Alan some breakfast. I will come back and check on you in a little bit. Will you be alright alone?”
“I’m not a child,” Ana said petulantly.
Damien chuckled. “You’re not a happy patient. Sleep and drink your water. I will call your company to get a sick day for you. I am in the house, I can handle both of you.”
He patted her on the head after she conceded. Damien left Ana and took a blanket for Alan and bundled him up.
“Is Mommy okay?” Alan asked, his eyes holding worry.
“Mommy’s okay,” Damien assured. “We’re going to let her sleep, okay? You can stay with me today until Grandma and Grandpa come, okay?”
Damien whipped up some food and let his secretary know he wouldn’t come to the office because of a family emergency.
Damien checked in on Ana every couple of hours. Most of the time, she was sleeping. She mustn’t have noticed him there either. He made her drink water, but she was only half awake. By that night, she was able to keep down a few spoons of food.
Around ten, she wandered into the living room and dropped down beside him.
“Thank you, Damien…” she said. She had already seen Alan in bed and the baby monitor was safely on Damien’s lap like a precious treasure.
“No need to thank me. Are you feeling better?”
She nodded. “Still tired, though.”
“Well, you should go to bed. Call me if you need anything.”
Ana nodded. Damien reached out for her and she allowed him to help her out off the couch. He wanted to hold onto her, but her bedroom came too soon. He had to let her go and stay in the living room.
The week that followed was surreal. Ana and Alan were at his house almost every night. They didn’t fight. They got along well and after dinner together, Damien drove them home. He just wanted to spend a little more time with the two of them.
Ana agreed for him to stay over a few nights so that he could spend more time with Alan. It was something both Alan and Damien were excited about.
They didn’t know what happened but something had shifted. Damien left work on time every day and saw his son. They were bonding. Damien introduced him to all the old cartoons he used to watch. It was a wonder watching Alan’s face light
- up.
Meeting Anastasia every day was another day. Ana smiled at him a lot. She touched him playfully or smacked his chest. He felt like a teenager again, his heart speeding up and brain going stupid at her mere touch.
On Friday night, Damien got a call from a friend. He was supposed to bring a plus one and Damien thought it was the perfect opportunity for Ana to go out. He felt guilty that she didn’t have a social life until recently.
“Are you free today?” he asked the moment Ana picked the phone up.
“Uh.. Alan, get down from there!” Ana yelled. “Sorry, you were saying?” she said in a lower tone.
Damien chuckled. “It’s okay. I am meeting some friends from the business circle today. Wynne and James will of course be there. It is a good opportunity for you to grow your connections in the city. Do you want to go?”
“I have to look after Alan,” she said in a low voice. It was her immediate response.
“My parents would be delighted to babysit… If you like…” Damien hoped she would say yes.
“Okay… I think it sounds good.”
“Excellent. I will pick Alan and you up at seven today. I will drop Alan at my parent’s place and then we can meet the others.”
“Okay!”
Right on time, Damien was on Ana’s doorstep. He rang the doorbell and expected to see Ana. But he had to look around before his eyes fell on his silly son’s face. He was grinning.
Chapter 41
“Why are you opening the door?” Damien asked.
“I’m right here!” Ana called. “He asked and I said okay.”
She walked into view. Her clothes made her look breathtaking.
“Mommy, you look pwetty!” Alan said.
Damien stood and stared like an idiot.
“Damien?” He should have answered but he couldn’t. “Damien?” Ana giggled.
“What?” Damien finally managed to say.
“Close your mouth. We need to go.”
