Bound by the CEO’s Baby By Sun Scar Chapter 30
Chapter 30
“How did he-
“I told him this morning.” Wynne said, her face filled with guilty. “He asked where I was going because I wasn’t on–call and I explained we were coming to the park. I honestly didn’t expect him to show up.”
Ana’s mouth opened in shock before she turned around so that she could scrutinize Damien without looking directly at him. He would randomly break into a smile or laugh when James did something ridiculous for Alan’s amusement.
Half the things he was doing were impractical for his joints, but it made Alan laugh so hard that he fell backward. A few minutes later, James hobbled over to them with a grimace.
“Feeling old yet?” Anastasia teased.
James grabbed his back and straightened himself a little. “I thought I was a young lad until this morning,” he groaned.
“I’m not sure jumping around the monkey bar is a good idea if you are over twenty.”
“I would have appreciated it if you told me that before I did it…” James sat down and curled his hand around Wynne’s shoulder. Then, he leaned down to kiss her temple.
“Where’s the fun in that?” she laughed. “Besides, your godson loved it.”
Ana was watching Alan, who had decided to fill his car with sand. Out of the corner of her eye, Ana saw James nod in Damien’s direction, answering a silent question.
“Would you two mind watching Alan for a bit?”
“Sure!” Wynne chirped.
“I’ll be right back, baby,” Ana told her son.
“Kay, Momma.”
Ana stood up and trotted towards where Damien was standing. He shifted his weight and looked nervous as Ana approached
him.
“I didn’t mean to intrude…”
“It’s fine Damien,” Ana sighed. “Do you want to come over or would you prefer to watch from a distance.” Her tone was teasing. Damien looked towards his employees and then at Alan.
“I wanted to talk for a minute,” he said softly.
Ana swallowed, wondering if this was the moment Damien told her he wanted nothing to do with them. That he would sign
the
papers.
“Of course.” Ana tried to understand what he was thinking but failed. “Damien? Just tell me.” She braced herself for what was coming.
“I don’t know what you want from me, Anastasia.”
“I don’t want anything from you,” she snapped.
“That is not what I mean. If I wanted to be an active part of Alan’s life, what does that entail?” he asked.
Ana stared at him in total disbelief. She took a moment before she cleared her throat.
“I don’t completely understand what you are asking. Could you rephrase?”
Chapter 30
“I don’t know how to do this.” Damien said nervously, his eyes darting around all over the place. “I don’t know what you expect from me. Will I get him on weekends or… well I don’t know what else there is, but I just need to know.”
Anastasia narrowed her eyes.
“Ana, come on!” He pinched the bridge of his nose.
Ana sucked in a deep breath. “I don’t have a concrete answer to that. I don’t want my son to get hurt. If you are going to be his father, be his father. Speak to him, play with him and love him with everything you have. There is no manual to raising kids, Damien. You just learn as time passes. I simply expect you to be consistent.” She stopped. “You can’t promise to do something and then bail on him. There is no ‘I am busy today, let’s reschedule‘ with kids. If he is in your life, he has to be your top priority.”
“That’s a lot of responsibility”
“More than running a multi–billion dollar company?” she asked sarcastically.
“Don’t be sarcastic with me, Ana. You have had years to figure out how to be a parent. I didn’t have nine months to prepare or have the opportunity to ease into the idea of having a kid. I have known for three weeks.”
Ana gritted her teeth and bit back the retort at the tip of her tongue. She didn’t want her son to see them fighting.
The silence between them calmed them both down.
“I am sorry.” Damien said after a while.
“It’s okay. You are not wrong. You came here and that is a huge development. But trying is more than just standing and watching from a distance. Go talk to him. Alan is a good kid. If your employee can act like a dinosaur for him, the least you can do is help him destroy his toys.”
Damien threw his head back in laughter and Ana couldn’t help but smile. She was glad to ease the tension between them. She glanced over her shoulder and saw Wynne and James quickly look away, pretending like they weren’t watching.
“Are we ever going to speak without an audience?” Ana groaned.
“I doubt it,” Damien snorted.
Ana turned back and took a few steps away. “Are you coming?” she asked him.
Damien glanced at Alan and nodded. “Yeah.” As they got closer to the bench, everyone looke
“Mr. Wright, Wynne greeted.
“Hey, Damien Alan chirped from his spot in the sandbox.
“Hey, Alan,” Damien responded, looking at Ana for guidance.
- up.
“Alan, do you want to show Damien how much sand your car can carry?” Ana asked her son enthusiastically.
Alan nodded violently and with a grin that spanned from ear to ear. Damien didn’t move.
“Go sit with him,” Ana mouthed. Damien took a deep breath before heading over to Alan and bending down next to him.
“So, what are we doing?” he asked.
“Putting the sand in the truck,” Alan responded like the answer was evident. ANa snickered under her breath and Damien threw her a scowl.
“He is a lot like you, she grumbled.
Ana burst out laughing. “I take that as a compliment.” Ana watched him hide his smile and return his attention to Alan.

Twenty minutes later, they were saying goodbye and making their way home for lunch Damien had performed better than expected. He helped and responded appropriately to what Alan asked. His expression held fascination
When they were leaving. Damien taught Alan how to fist bump. Alan, once again, wrapped himself around Damien’s leg Damien stiffened for a moment before he melted into the touch. He rested his hand on Alan’s back and returned the hug.
