Chapter 19 Rules
Meeting Gavin was an accident of my life, but having so much to do with him was something I could never have imagined. He had helped me so much, even to the extent that he gave me the child in my womb. I was grateful for him, but I didn't want to get in touch with him again.
Ever since that day, I had never seen Gavin again.
Without Gavin, my life was plain and dull, and I was comfortable going to and from work every day.
I have not forgotten the million dollars that Gavin gave. When I was at work, I often wanted to find another easy part-time job and earn a little money.
Maybe it's my body's biological clock getting out of sync during pregnancy, or maybe I have too many things on my mind. Lately I have been having more and more problems at work.
Although my female supervisor always put on a poker face, she was still a good woman. She found out the mistakes before she submitted the documents, and then had me take them back and correct them. However, this time she was no longer protecting me.
This time I miscalculated and a 'zero' was missing. Although it did not do any major damage to the company, everyone in the company searched for the mistake for whole two days without sleep to find this mistake.
At this moment, I was sitting in my seat like sitting on pins and needles, thinking that I would definitely be fried.
Before I could decide where I would find a new job after losing this one, my supervisor came out of the boss's office with an angry face. She came over to me without any emotion: "The boss is looking for you." I jumped up and bowed to her. I was about to enter the boss's office when the supervisor suddenly grabbed my hand. I saw her close her eyes and pat the back of my hand before she left. I had no idea what she meant.
The boss's office was in very quiet corner of the corridor. I took a few deep breaths before standing in front of the door, tapping twice.
After waiting for two seconds, I heard the person inside say, "Come in."
I pushed the door open carefully and looked at the boss with an apologetic smile. I knew my current appearance must be very ugly, but never mind.
Mr. Moretz said, "Darcey, sit down."
"The boss's tone is so kind, there must be something wrong. If I didn't get fired, I must encounter some hidden rules." I suddenly thought of something in my heart.
Just as I was about to sit down on the couch, Mr. Moretz sat down beside me, with two cups of tea already prepared, and a hand which he placed carelessly on my thigh.
I bowed my head, not daring to look at him. I had already understood. But I did not know what to do. What I regretted most now was why I had come to work today in a skirt.
Mr. Moretz still looked very serious and said, "Darcey, I know you are still a novice. Inevitably, you are not doing so well in some aspects. I was bothered with those mistakes before, as they were just minor problems. But today is different. The whole company has stayed with you to correct your mistakes and hasn't slept all night. They have to get back to work later."
I quickly said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Moretz. It's all my fault. I'm willing to accept punishment."
"Your attitude is correct and your apology is sincere, so you deserve to be forgiven. Punishing is too harsh, but..." Mr. Moretz suddenly stopped halfway.
I closed my eyes in desperation.
Mr. Moretz continued, "This is your fault after all. You still have to do something."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Moretz!" I stood up suddenly and said, "I'm not feeling well. I want to go to the toilet first." Then I ran out without waiting for him to answer.☐☐☐☐☐☐
