Chapter 5:
In Accalia’s head: Straight after Gunner’s announcement, I was forced to leave the pack house immediately. No belongings, no goodbyes. Just the blood soaked clothes on my back. Gunner wanted me out of his territory. Out of his life. He brought Axel, Hunter and Cole along to help assist him. Since hearing those poisonous words, time was stood still. I've never felt so uncertain about my future till now. As we were nearing our territory border, reality quickly set in that there was no going back for me.
Gunner: “We've reached our territory border. Once you pass that large tree to your left, you'll be on Canadian soil.”
Accalia: “Alpha, please. I have no clue how to survive on my own. You're the only father figure I've ever known so please, I'm begging you. Don't do this.”
Gunner: “You brought this upon yourself. You remember everything I told you before we left the house, correct?”
Accalia: “Yes, alpha. (flashback)”
Gunner: “I hereby banish you, Accalia, from the Sawtooth Pack.”
Milena: “Dad, don’t do this.”
Gunner: “That’s enough, Milena. I won't tell you again.”
Milena: “Mom?”
Nikita: “Goodbye, Accalia.”
Gunner: “It's settled then. Son?”
Axel: “Yes, father?”
Gunner: “You, Cole and Hunter will accompany me in escorting Accalia towards the borders of our land.”
Axel: “Yes, alpha.”
Gunner: “Excellent. Now then…Accalia, you're prohibited to bring anything with you and as further punishment for your crimes, you won't be allowed to shower or change your clothes. You will wear these rags as a symbol of a rouge. We'll leave immediately. (present time)”
Gunner: “Accalia?”
Accalia: “Sorry, I zoned out.”
Gunner: “As I was saying…now that I banished you, your mind link connection to this pack will no longer work. You should also keep your scent mask at all times due to the fact that you are now vulnerable to neighboring packs and rogues.”
Accalia: “Anything else?”
Gunner: “No, you're free to go.”
Milena: “ACCALIA, WAIT!! Please, don't go.”
Gunner: “Milena, What are you doing here?! I gave you strict orders to stay home.”
Milena: “Accalia's like my sister. Please don't send her away.”
Gunner: “If you don't go home right now I'll make your life a living hell. Do I make myself clear?! She'll be fine.”
Axel: “Goodbye, Accalia.”
Gunner: “One last thing. Don't ever come back here again.”
In Accalia’s head: Well, there's no turning back now. Day quickly turned into night. The rays of the moon were my only source of light. I couldn't bring myself to socialize with humans alone so I took shelter in a nearby cave. The night seems calm and quiet. Nearly fooling myself in a false sense of security did the reality I was facing was anything but. I found myself retracing all of my memories, wondering what I could've changed to make a difference. If I had taken a breath, if I had controlled my temper, if I had just kept my hands to myself, would I still be here? Would this life still be my fate? I know I can't stay here, but for now, staying within close proximity of my family's territory gives me some sort of relief. I'm not ready to let go and say goodbye, so I'll write it out for as long as I can. That's exactly what I did. I refuse to leave the safety of the cave. Going days without food or water. Werewolves have their advantages, but I'm starting to feel the strain of being isolated. The next day I woke up in extreme pain. Pain I've never experienced in life before. Then it dawned on me that I haven't eaten in a week. I tried to avoid leaving the safety of the cave, due to my anxiety but by doing so, I'm slowly killing myself. I needed to hunt. Pushed by hunger, I left the safety of the cave to look for prey. I kept a close distance from the Sawtooth Pack’s border, but I couldn't find anything to eat. I started to wonder further and further away. Inexperience started to show when I became slowly careless of my surroundings, not giving a second thought to the possible dangers I was putting myself in. Focusing all of my attention on hunting when I should've also been keeping a close eye out for other wolves.
Man: “Hey, alpha. What's with the look?”
Alpha: “Why do I even bother with you imbeciles?! It's like I have to do everything myself.”
Man: “Are you gonna tell us what's wrong?”
Alpha: “If you idiots have paid attention to your surroundings then you would've realized that there is a rogue wolf nearby.”
Man: “Sorry, boss. This isn't officially our territory so we didn't think it was a big of a deal. What do you want us to do?”
Alpha: “I don't care if this is our territory or not, this land will soon be ours and there's no room for outsiders. We'll find this wolf and kill them.”
In Accalia’s head: Sesi? Can you hear me? I know we haven't spoken in a while but if you can hear me then we need to shift. We probably won't get another chance like this. Please?
Accalia’s Wolf: “Let's do this.”
In Accalia’s head: Sesi!! I'm so relieved to hear your voice.
Accalia’s Wolf: “I'm happy to hear yours, but hurry. We need to act quickly.”
Alpha: “Are you lost, Rogue?”
Accalia’s Wolf: “Don't show weakness, be confident.
Accalia: “I'm not lost. As you can see, I'm busy hunting.”
Alpha: “Is that so? What exactly are you hunting?”
In Accalia’s head: No, no, no, no.
Accalia: “What are you guys want anyway?!
Alpha: “Big talk for a rogue wolf.”
Accalia: “I'm not a rogue wolf. I'm just out hunting for my pack.”
Alpha: “Enough with the games. We didn't come here to make small talk. I'm gonna ask you again. What is a rogue she wolf like yourself doing out here all alone?”
Accalia: “I'm not alone. I’m part of the Sawtooth Pack!! And if you touch me then my alpha will tell you apart.”
Alpha: “You’re part of the Sawtooth Pack?! I have an even better idea. We'll kill you to send a message to your alpha that his reign is coming to an end.”
Accalia’s Wolf: “Run!!”
Alpha: “After her!!”
In Accalia’s head: Hours pass and the rogues are still chasing me. I was becoming weaker by the second. I was too weak to even shift. Me and Sesi are gonna need a miracle to survive this.
Accalia’s Wolf: “Accalia, there's a clearing up ahead. Maybe we can lose them there? Quickly, they're coming.”
In Accalia’s head: Sesi, I'm sorry but I can't go any further. I can't feel my legs. I feel completely drained right now.
Alpha: “Going somewhere?”
Accalia: “Please, I’m begging you. Don't do this.”
Alpha: “Don't worry, we'll make it quick. Say goodbye.”
Man: “What the fuck!!”
In Accalia’s head: Am I dreaming?! My vision might be blurred but there was no mistaking the huge, black wolf in front of me. Blood piercing cries echo throughout the night as each rogue was dismembered. The ground became a pool of blood within seconds. The smell was overpowering. My ears filled with the sound of tearing flesh and crunching bones. None of those other wolves instead of chance. Suddenly my breathing became shallow and my legs began to shake. My mind started continuously spinning until I could no longer support my own body weight. (the next day). Where am I? I feel like I was hit by a bus.
Accalia’s Wolf: “Accalia!! Accalia, someone's coming.”
Rose: “Hello, dear. I thought I sensed you waking up. How are you feeling?”
Rose’s Wolf: “We need to be gentle with her, poor thing is terrified.”
In Rose’s head: I know, Athena. I can't imagine what she's been through.
Rose: “I'm sorry if I came across a little strong. I'm not sure what happened to you but either way you're safe here.”
Accalia’s Wolf: “She's telling us the truth. I can tell her intentions are pure.”
Accalia: “H-hi. I'm feeling okay, thank you.”
Rose: “I'm glad to hear that, dear. I don't wanna overwhelm you, but I wanted to ask if it was okay for me to call one of my pack members to give you a fresh change of clothes?”
Accalia: “Your pack members?”
Rose: “Sorry for my lack of informalities, dear. My name is Rose and I'm the Luna of this pack.”
Accalia: “Nice to meet you, I’m Accalia.”
Rose: “Nice to meet you, Accalia.”
Rose’s Mindlink: “Amara, could you bring a fresh pair of clothes for our new guest, Accalia? Also, try not to scare her, she's very timid at the moment.”
Amara’s Mindlink: “Yes, luna.”
Rose: “I'll take my leave now, but Amara will be with you any moment. Please come and get some food when you're ready.”
In Accalia’s head: I'm confused. When you wake up in a stranger's home you're supposed to feel terrified, right? And yet…I feel like I'm somehow home. I've never seen such a unique looking she wolf. Everything about her screamed deadly, from her blood red eyes to her large scar across her nose. Her presence completely intimidated me.
Amara: “Is everything okay?”
Accalia: “Sorry about that, I sort of zoned out.”
Amara: “No worries. I brought you some fresh clothes, I'll leave them here. I'll wait outside while you get ready.”
In Accalia’s head: She seems nice. I better see what she left for me. These clothes are so nice. I feel so much better. I should probably go and face everyone.
Amara: “I'm glad you decided to come out.”
Accalia: “Thank you again. I can't tell you how amazing it feels to be in fresh clothes again.”
Amara: “Maybe I can introduce you to a few more of our pack members? Is everything okay?”
Kai: “Now from the top, make it drop. Now get a bucket and a mop. I’m talkin’ wap, wap, wap. Macaroni in a pot. Hey guys. Who's the new she wolf?”
Amara: “Accalia, this is Kai. The pack’s jokester.”
Accalia: “Hi.”
Kai: “You're the she-wolf I've heard so much about. I'm so glad you're okay after last night.”
Amara: “Luna Rose told us that we weren't supposed to mention anything about last night. It could overwhelm her.”
Kai: “Oh, I'm sorry.”
Amara: “Don't worry, you don't need to tell us about last night until you're ready.”
In Accalia’s head: Last night?
Accalia: “OH MY GOD!! I remember everything. Someone saved my life.”
Malik: “That ‘someone’ would be me. We meet again, little wolf.”
