Chapter 26
LINDA
"Yay, boys, there's food!" I call out to them as they look up at me in confusion and scowl.
I was shocked by what Marga had told me, and after she'd disappeared, I'd also come up with a plan. Bora had grown on me more and more and the fear of losing her to that arsehole was great, especially as my heart beat for Lory's as Alpha.
"You're in a pretty good mood for having your alpha and beta trapped," one of them said, looking at me in confusion.
"Oh guys, I'm always in a good mood, the world could end and I'd still be in a good mood. The question is rather whether you're hungry, because I've already eaten," I reply, putting the tray with the two plates on the table and putting my hands on my hips.
I hear a low growl from a distance and realise that it is Lory's growl, who is probably annoyed by my behaviour.
Nevertheless, I smile broadly and turn to leave as I hear the clatter of knives and forks.
"Damn, this tastes so good," laughs one of them, while the other starts to eat, also groaning.
My potion consisted of valerian, hops, St John's wort and lemon balm. I used the hops in particular without restraint in large quantities, and with a little help from a little witch, she made sure that this potion put the boys out of action for a few hours.
I stand against the wall and wait as I hear the clink of crockery. I grin broadly and walk back towards them. Thank God the shift is already over, because that way I can be sure that no one will come down here voluntarily.
"Oh, finished eating already? How wonderful," I chirp as I walk towards them and pull the bunch of keys out of their trousers. A hell of a lot of keys.
"Moon goddess..." I murmur quietly to myself as I hurry to the cells with the bunch of keys in my hand.
"Alpha?" I whisper as I try to find the right key.
"Linda?" I hear Leonardo say as he runs towards the cell.
"How the hell did you get here?" he asks me, stunned, as I hear the other men come to the cells as well.
"Release Leonardo first, I'm blind, he can help you!" demands Lorys when he hears the keys.
"Marga and I will try to save you..."
"Marga? Where is she?" Leonardo asks me impatiently as I turn towards his cell and try to open his door, when suddenly the key turns.
"She's with Bora," I whisper quietly and make my way to the next cell to free James.
"Marga got a silver dagger from Bora's father," I explain as Leonardo's eyes widen.
"Excuse me?" he asks incomprehensibly and I can already see the panic on his face as I free Lory last, after I've freed the other men.
"She's hiding in Bora's room, waiting to ambush Gabriel..."
Leonardo's eyes grow wide as a growl escapes his throat and he looks at me angrily.
"Whose idea was this?" Lorys asked me as James held him by the arm.
"Erm... Mine and Marga's?" I reply again, while Leonardo stares stunned at the guards "And how did you manage that?" Yes, it was impressive to knock out two such big men, but as they say? Women make everything possible!
"Leonardo, you're clearly asking too many questions. I suggest you gather the last of your strength to destroy Gabriel's pack for good. They know nothing of this ambush... Brightstone is hiding in the woods to help you," I assured Lorys, who was staring completely into space.
"I feel so useless," he muttered to himself, disappointed at not being able to help better.
"Get ready... I think all hell is about to break loose here," I assure him, trying to reach Marga.
"Marga... We're ready," I speak into her thoughts when she doesn't reply.
Leonardo and the other men turn into big, scary, dangerous wolves and look at me as if I'm the one blowing the whistle and officially declaring the fight.
"Come on," Marga says to me in her mind as I transform too.
"She's about to attack him, we'll charge straight into the room to help her," I instruct the boys as Leonardo growls loudly again and we take off running. We storm through the corridors, led by Lorys in his wolf form, and run over almost everything and everyone in our path.
We run up the grand staircase to the Alpha Wing and storm into Bora's room.
MARGA
My hands tremble as I hold the dagger. I look between the cracks and swallow again. Gabriel sits down next to Bora and tries to pull her back into his arms, but she shakes her head again, crying, and tries to push him away.
"Go away, I don't want anything from you. You have everything you wanted. Go!" she sobs loudly and breaks my heart with these words.
I tremble... tremble with her and doubt whether I'm capable of putting an end to it, but I have to.
"Bora... I still don't have what I want," Gabriel replies as I see him clasp her face and try to kiss her.
She refuses and tries to break free from his grip, but he holds her tight and my anger boils like a kettle on the cooker.
In that moment, I wished Bora would return his kiss just so I could complete my ambush.
Gabriel was too preoccupied with Bora to sense my presence.
"I want you, Bora. You in a state of surrender and will. That is the only thing I want and the only thing I will take. I will break you, Bora, and you will beg me to kiss you..." he kisses her again as my collar pops and I quietly open the closet door and silently walk towards him with my dagger raised.
My heart is pounding like crazy, wants to jump out of my chest, but I have to help Bora... I have to!
While Gabriel is still trying to get to Bora, she is writhing in his grip, I stab him.
I thrust and stand frozen while Gabriel cries out in pain and turns to me. He looks at me stunned, eyes wide open, and pulls out the dagger, while Bora stares at me, eyes wide open, holding her breath.
"You... You'll pay for this!" Gabriel croaks, pulling the dagger from his side and pointing it at me. I step back in a daze and raise my arms in defence - why didn't anything happen? He was supposed to die...
In a panic, I reach for the vase on the table, shoot and hit him. I hit him in the head while the vase shatters into a thousand pieces and he growls again as if he hadn't been hit.
Suddenly he lunges at me and plunges his dagger into my stomach, while Bora transforms, rushes at him and bites hard into his neck.
I groan in pain, hold my stomach and sink to my feet. I see the blood oozing out of me and now my whole robe is covered in it as several wolves suddenly pounce on Gabriel and tear him to pieces.
I try to pull the dagger out, but the pain overwhelms me and I lose my strength. Gabriel doesn't seem to be any better. From the side angle, I see him fall to the ground as well and the silver kills him.
Leonardo suddenly stands next to me and pulls the dagger out of my stomach, but I doubt he can do anything.
"MARGA!" he suddenly shouts in panic as he covers my wound and tries to stop the bleeding, but it doesn't help. I can feel every inch of my body being penetrated and the silver is poisoning my body.
The only thing I can think about is Leonardo, who is holding me in his arms and crying uncontrollably.
He hugs me tightly and looks into my eyes, while despite all the pain, a small smile flits across my lips and I feel like I'm falling into a delirium. Everything starts to spin and I try with all my might to keep my eyes open... to fight.
"I love you Leonardo..." I whisper softly and see my end coming.
This was the sacrifice I made for my Alpha and my Luna... Not least for my mate. Living in the knowledge that he was trapped and constantly being beaten was an unbearable thought for me.
"Marga... You mustn't leave me," Leonardo pleads, shaking my shoulders ever more firmly.
I smile weakly again and manage to grab him by the cheek, pull his head closer to me and kiss him.
"Promise me you'll be happy, Leonardo..." I whisper softly, sensing that I'm close to the end.
"I love you so much," I force myself to say before my strength leaves me completely, even the stabbing pain subsides and everything inside me fades and spins. It's as if someone is robbing me of all the strength I have left, even the bond with Leonardo is fading. Leonardo... I've just found you and now I have to let you go...
The thought of leaving him alone, knowing the pain and agony he will suffer, makes my heart contract. Bora, struggling with all the trauma and losing me as her only friend... I don't want to leave them alone, any of them, and yet I am forced to. I am forced to trade my life for theirs so that they can be happy and take the future of the pack back into their own hands. Our true pack, the Circle...
My mind becomes foggy and I can feel the voices that speak to me fading further and further into the distance. It's as if another hand is reaching for me, guiding me through the great void.
"Marga..." whispers the gentle voice, which seems to be as sweet as honey.
"Marga, your deed was heroic... So brave and courageous, my Marga..." she whispers again, as the darkness is pierced by sunlight and a woman stands in the distance.
"You do not deserve this fate, my Marga, and yet here we are, on the threshold of paradise... You have proven your loyalty and you will be rewarded for it..."
The voice is heavenly and I wonder who is speaking to me, look around and discover a woman. A woman wearing a heavenly dress in white, with golden curls and an enchanting face that is indescribably beautiful. She reaches for my hand and I follow her in a daze.
"I'll take you to paradise Marga..."
"Moon goddess..." I whisper softly and look up at her in amazement as she gives me the sweetest smile in the world.
"Oh yes, that's me, my love... Here you are safe, all your sorrow will fade away," she speaks, the sound of a harp and I am enchanted.
"Leonardo..." I whisper softly and feel the pain again, which seems to fade away.
"You'll be together one day, you'll wait for him in paradise, Marga," it sounds as if she's promising me and I believe her. Suddenly I believe it and my inner self is also completely satisfied as everything disappears and I walk through the large golden gate.
