Chapter 22
GABRIEL
In the middle of the night... When it's dark and everyone's asleep... Just the right time to organise a robbery.
My beta Julian and I have been toiling and working all day just to avoid attracting attention.
Working wasn't really my thing. My thing was to set the tone and give orders. We waited until things were quiet. The arrival of these idiots was widely celebrated, and although Lorys was blind, his pack loved him dearly... I could only pray that he actually let himself be blackmailed, with Bora, or it could mean our deaths.
"Are you ready?" I asked Julian, who nodded and tucked the weapons Magnus had provided him into his belt. We would make it short and sweet. We would kidnap Bora in the presence of Lorys and make our demands. Nothing pragmatic.
Julian nodded to me and we walked down the corridor, into the Alpha Wing. It was quiet, everyone was asleep at one o'clock. I'd been keeping an eye on Bora all day and she hadn't even noticed, so busy was she guiding the blind man. One thing I had noticed was the mark on her neck. Lorys must have marked her and she marked him too.... At first I was really annoyed about it, but in retrospect it was all the more pleasing because he couldn't do anything to me without suffering from it himself.
Although it annoyed me to no end that he claimed it before me, the thought that he would only suffer more was all the more satisfying for me.
Lorys was going to see the worst of it and wish he'd never messed with me. It wasn't exactly honourable to just invade my pack territory and take it for yourself. The game was far from over, and even if I died, the thought of having hurt him would kill me. Lorys was strong, so was his pack, but nothing beat the love for his mate and for Luna... right?
With a mischievous grin, I walked through the corridors with Julian and it was amazing how unguarded his wing was. He was too sure of his wellbeing, but I would change that now.
We walked to his room in silence as we stopped in front of the door and looked at each other. I could hear snoring coming from the room, Lory's and Bora's snoring was almost too quiet as usual.
The night I thought I had killed her, she was here alive.
Julian quietly pushed the door handle as we crept cautiously inside. Lorys may have been blind, but her wolf wasn't. We had to get our hands on Bora faster than he could smell us, and there she was... Sleeping on her side. She looked so peaceful when she slept and I was almost sorry to have to force her to come with me again.
Such bad luck.
I look out the sharp knife and carefully approached her, holding it to her neck, just waiting for one of them to notice us.
When I touched her with the knife, Bora's eyes opened wide and when she saw me, panic was written all over her face.
"One move and you're dead..." I said to her and suddenly heard Lory's growl.
"Who dares to show up here in the middle of the night and threaten me and my companion?" he thundered angrily, his eyes suddenly changing colour from brown to gold.
"I'd be careful if I were you, Lorys... After all, you raided my pack, enslaved all my wolves and now you wonder why I'm here. One more move and she'll die faster than you can count to three," my mischievous smile said it all. I was crazy enough to make good on my threats.
"Gabriel," he hissed at me, glaring at Bora, who I was still holding the knife to her throat and licking my lips.
"You care about your wonderful mate, don't you, Lorys? I mean, it would be a damn shame if she died here. Especially since she was actually my betrothed," I laughed softly and shook my head "Come on, Bora... Tell Lorys how happy you were with me," I looked at her while Julian watched the spectacle. It wasn't long before several wolves suddenly stood in the room, growling dangerously at us. Leonardo, Lory's beta, came out and looked at me in astonishment and shock as his gaze travelled to Lory.
"I'll make this short, you idiots. If you do anything that's not in my favour, she's dead," I replied, gripping Bora tightly to me and continuing to hold the knife to her throat.
"No! You have to kill that pig, Lorys! No matter what happens to me, don't let him get away with it!" Bora suddenly screamed in panic as I pressed the knife harder against her neck, causing it to slash her skin slightly.
"Well... Naa Bora, we don't want this to happen to you right now, I bet you Lorys will dutifully bow to my demands just to save you, especially since he's blind," I winked at Leonardo as Lorys jumped up and huffed angrily.
LORYS
The worst thing I could think of had happened that night, and now Gabriel was holding Bora hostage. I could have sworn I'd killed him that day, but I had a feeling I'd probably killed someone else because I thought it was Gabriel.
"If I get my hands on you, you'll be the next one lying dismembered on the floor," I growled angrily at him "What should we do now, should we go after him?" Leonardo asked me over the mind comms as more wolves suddenly appeared in the room. Apparently Gabriel must have given all the Blue Moon wolves an alpha command, otherwise they wouldn't be here.
The situation came to a head and I could literally feel Bora's fear.
"No... This will end with him hurting her. I don't want him to hurt her..." I said to Leonardo, while Gabriel continued to smile at me, happy to have achieved something.
"I don't think you'll hurt a hair on my head, get him," he ordered his wolves, which I growled loudly at, causing them to stop abruptly.
"No Lorys... You still don't get the game," he retorted, suddenly drawing his knife at Bora's neck. It may have been a superficial scratch, but the pain was great and she burst into tears of pain "Stop it!" she screamed, crying and trying to wriggle out of his arms, but it was no use.
"You bloody bastard!" I screamed at him as two of his wolves held me and pushed me back.
"Do you think I'm joking, Lorys? I'm not joking, on the contrary. As sorry as I am to hurt Bora... But I can't help it," he winked at me and gave his men alpha commands again, making them run towards me like robots while my men watched.
"Maybe we can save them?" Leonardo asked me in a panic.
"No, we have to get her out of his clutches another way... I don't want anything to happen to her," I replied to his thoughts, to which he remained silent and did nothing of the sort.
"Who's behind the ambush? How did you get here?" I asked him, wanting to rip his guts out.
"I'll give you three guesses, Lorys..." he replied, forming "Magnus" with his lips.
"You'll all regret this!" I growled angrily at him and tried to tear myself away from the wolves, but he did it again.
"Lorys!" Bora shouted again, breaking my heart, I was so helpless in this situation.
"You have to hold on, Bora... We will free you from his clutches... Please hang in there," I said to her in my thoughts and a tear rolled down my face. My wolf couldn't hold out any longer, the healing process was tugging at me and I had to admit defeat this time. I would never forgive myself if Bora got hurt, especially as I thought I heard a faint pulse. It was so quiet that not even Bora knew she was probably pregnant. A wolf pregnancy progressed much faster, so I had to think of something as quickly as possible.
I couldn't risk anything and could only hope that Gabriel wouldn't notice. He would most likely kill her just to end a descendant of the Circle pack's alpha bloodline. It would end the Circle pack and I didn't want that. No. I would kill him without hurting Bora.
"You have to protect her," I instructed Leonardo, who seemed to be swallowing hard, chalk pale and probably unable to process what was happening here. I was losing my sight again, the frustration inside me was growing and I was literally being taken away to my own castle.
BORA
I saw the wolves from the Blue-Moon leading Lorys away with his hands tied.
"NO LORYS!", I screamed, suddenly crying like a waterfall. I tried to wriggle out of Gabriel's movements, but I couldn't without him carving more cuts into my skin.
Gabriel was unpredictable and my gut was right. Gabriel was alive, and he was crazier than ever. He had come here and threatened Lorys with me. I wanted more than anything to tell Lorys to give up on me, to kill Gabriel as soon as possible, but Lorys didn't seem to want that, and I wondered what was holding him back so much.
I was willing to die for my pack. After all, I was the future Luna of this pack, alongside Lorys and no one else.
"You're going to be good now if you don't want anything to happen to your Lorys," Gabriel whispered filthily in my ear and a cold shiver ran down my spine. He was now threatening to hurt Lorys if I didn't do what he wanted and I knew exactly how helpless Lorys was at the moment.
Tears were streaming down my face and a sob escaped my throat. The whole thing felt like a bad dream and I saw Leonardo, who was also desperately holding back, probably following Lorys' instructions.
"Hang in there," he said to me in his mind and there was nothing else I could do.
We were at Gabriel's mercy and it was all my fault...
