Chapter 70
Chapter 70
Brendan was speechless for a moment.
“Do you still want the South Glistenville project?”
Upon hearing this, Naomi Immediately opened the door and happily got into the car, saying, “We can
discuss business too.”
However, Brendan remained disdainful. He was a realistic person and was always seeking the most
practical outcomes.
As the car started, Naomi gazed at Brendan with an admiring smile, making her intentions quite clear.
Brendan caught a glimpse of her expression and felt a shiver run down his spine. To others, it might seem like Naomi had strong feelings for him.
He adjusted his collar, and his expression remained unchanged as he said, “Since you rejected my call and turned off your phone last night, does that mean you’ve found your next target? Are you sure he can
have a baby with you?”
Naomi’s smile froze. She didn’t even need to think who was responsible for this.
It had to be Ronald’s doing. He had yet to learn his lesson.
After staring at Brendan for a moment, Naomi chuckled and asked, “Are you concerned about me?”
Her smile caused Brendan’s expression to worsen, and he changed the subject. “Where did you go last
night?
Naomi sat up straight and looked ahead as she replied, “I wasn’t in a good mood, so I went to South Lake.
Upon hearing that, Brendan fell silent. Naomi was well accustomed to his behavior. She had to be playing around with him.
When Brendan didn’t respond, Naomi looked at him and asked, “Are you feeling guilty now?”
Without waiting for Brendan to answer, Naomi continued, “Well, if you’re truly feeling guilty, maybe you could pitch in on the South Glistenville project!”
Brendan held the steering wheel with both hands and said indifferently, “Yeah, right.”
Naomi didn’t give up and replied, “Were you just fooling around with me earlier?”
Brendan remained silent.
Seeing this, Naomi grabbed a water bottle from the side and threw it at him.
More than 20 minutes later, they arrived home and had dinner.
After that, Naomi took a shower and started working. She needed to figure out a plan for the South
Glistenville project.

Soon, Brendan came out of the bathroom, toweling his hair dry. He felt a sense of contentment when he saw Naomi working with her black–rimmed glasses on..
Walking up to Naomi, he held her in his arms and casually glanced at the project proposal in her hands.
As Brendan leaned in closer, Naomi’s phone suddenly rang.
As she reached for her phone and saw Brendan leaning in close to her, Naomi was startled for a moment. She quickly stood up and regained her composure. She said with a smile, “I’m working, not sneaking around behind your back. There’s no need to watch me like that.”
After saying that, she picked up her phone from the table. She glanced at the caller ID and continued, “If you want to see the proposal, then you can just help me look it over! I’ll answer this call first.”
Seeing that she intended to take the call without him there, Brendan looked at her and said, “Naomi,
answer the call right here.”
“I can’t hold it in anymore,” Naomi replied vaguely and went straight into the bathroom.
Afterward, as soon as she entered the bathroom and answered the call, Ronald’s voice came rushing in, Naomi, are you even listening to me? I’ve called you repeatedly during the day to ask you to leave Brendan alone and to not return to Yellowind Bay.
“Are you not hearing me? I’ll have you know that his terrible temper is all thanks to your coddling. Come back here immediately.”
Ronald scolded her relentlessly.
Just as Naomi was about to say something, Brendan’s voice came from outside. “Naomi, if you don’t come out here by the time I count to three, you’re going to be in big trouble.”
Brendan’s sixth sense told him that Naomi’s phone call wasn’t as simple as it seemed.
In the bathroom, Naomi couldn’t be bothered with Brendan and continued talking to Ronald. “Ronald, do you want to hide forever?”
On the other end of the phone, Ronald heard Naomi’s threat and immediately softened his tone as he said, “Naomi, I’m telling you this for your own good. You’re not a man, so you don’t understand.
“Men are stubborn. The more you pursue them, the less they’ll appreciate you. Sometimes, they might start longing for you if you don’t show too much interest.”
Naomi replied sarcastically. “You’re lecturing me on this? How about you go and get married first?”
Seeing that Naomi wouldn’t listen to his reasoning, Ronald immediately said pitifully, “Naomi, your house is too big, and I’m scared to stay here all alone. Hurry back and keep me company.”
Outside the bathroom, Brendan had an even more unpleasant expression on his face after being ignored. He called out in a deep voice, “Naomi.”
Naomi glanced at the door and told Ronald, “I need to hang up. Brendan is about to kick down the door.
“Is he back?” Ronald was surprised, but he continued, “Then, don’t stay in Yellowind Bay. He’s too boring.
Chapter 70
Come back and keep me company.”
Unwilling to continue negotiating with Ronald, Naomi ended the call abruptly.
Then, she opened the bathroom door calmly.

Seeing that Brendan was about to kick down the door, she leaned against the doorframe with her hands folded across her chest. She smiled as she asked, “Weren’t you going to count to three? Why did you
stop?”
Brendan pinched her face and asked, “Who was that?”
Even though he usually had no patience for her, he couldn’t tolerate her being involved with someone else.
Naomi was amused when she saw Brendan’s anger. She pushed his hand away disapprovingly and said, You’re already this angry even though I haven’t done anything yet. I can’t imagine what you’ll do if I really cheated on you one day.”
“Don’t play games with me,” Brendan said, extending his hand toward her. “Give me your phone.”
Naomi chuckled. “What if I don’t want to?”
“Then, you’d better make sure I don’t find out,” Brendan replied.
Naomi smiled in amusement and said, “Even if I were involved with someone else, at least I’m trying to save you some dignity by answering the call discreetly.”
Her words were an obvious reference to the fact that he had personally delivered Chloe’s bag to her the
other night.
As their gazes met, Brendan frowned, his tongue pressing against his cheek in contemplation.
Naomi’s phone suddenly chimed with a series of message notifications.
Brendan’s hand remained motionless on the table in front of her. This time, Brendan chose to remain silent, refraining from uttering a single word.
Naomi slowly moved away from the doorframe, and the smile on her face gradually disappeared.
