Chapter 14 ~ Fluffin
Thanks for reading guys! Love you all and enjoy!!!
The more the massive wolf advanced towards her, the more her heart pounded in the chest. All around him there was such an aura of ferocity and danger that, instinctively, Elena stepped back with an unconscious yelp.
And his reaction was priceless: Mirko’s wolf whined and lowered his furry ears.
Biting her lips, she felt guilty, knowing deeply that he would have never hurt her.
With a deep breath, she started to approach him in small steps, wrapped in his hypnotising smell. In the meantime, he was lying on his stomach with his huge head between his front paws, carefully watching Elena’s every move. At the sight of the legendary Craken staring at her like a lost puppy, a laugh had almost escaped her lips. He was so beautiful and yet looked so mighty, just as the stories had pictured him. Being his mate was an honour, yet a complex matter.
Elena didn’t personally know him and the tales about him weren’t much in his favour. Without doubt, Mirko instilled fear and a certain amount of deference to everyone around him. Furthermore, she could have never forgotten how Craken had crushed Lord Skull’s fierce warriors as if they were simple crickets.
Despite everything, Mirko had proven to be nothing but nice towards her... although he had ignored her for a week.
Eventually he had come all the way to Full Moon to see her and at the moment, he seemed quite upset, believing he had frightened her... Or at least the wolf was. The human? Who knows!
After studying him - admiring him - for a few more minutes, Elena did not really know what to do... So her wolfish counterpart had decided to take matters into her own paws. In fact, Titilas had never had any doubts about her mate. She loved him and was proud of having such a male for herself.
A tremor shook her whole human body, and a few bones break.
Elena gasped, receiving a curious look from the black wolf who had tilted his humungous head to the side.
‘What...what a-are you doing, Titty?’
‘Intervening!’ An excited Titilas barked out.
Out of the blue, Elena shifted. Human flesh exploded, bones rearranged, light brown fur sprouted and there she was. The proof that legends existed.
Titilas did not waste an extra second and jumped straight on Craken’s massive back. Once the she-wolf trapped her mate successfully - or, better, he had let her do so - she growled in a way that resembled a human chuckle.
Craken’s head snapped towards her, still on his back, so quickly that Elena thought he must have detached his neck. He stared at her with so much disbelief that was comical.
Phase two of Tit’s plan began: she leaned forward and started to lick him repeatedly on the side of his muzzle, even a little bit on his shocked eye.
The surprised expression of Craken was soon replaced by a wolfish grin. In an instant, the smaller she-wolf found herself pin beneath him, with her back on the ground. The roles had reversed faster than Elena was prepared. And it was Titilas who was overwhelmed by a licking attack, with no escape. The perky she-wolf, however, did not like to lose. Not at all.
And that was probably why she chose to do what she did next... Like the coward she was, Titilas phased back, leaving a very exposed Elena under attack.
“Eww Craken! Stop!” She could not avoid the giggle, trying to shield her face, forgetting for a moment about her lack of clothes.
After some more ‘wet’ seconds, the male wolf leaned back to look at her with a playful expression, tongue hanging out on one side.
Elena chuckled softly at the sight. ‘Could a wolf be any cuter?’
Sure, he had fangs longer than her kitchen’s knives and he could cut a cow in half with one bite and the shade of his fur reminded of the darkest night... but still. ‘Look at him!’
Unable to resist, she ran a hand through the mane under his neck and up to the shorter one on his head. With a deep purr, Craken nuzzled his wet nose into the crook of her neck, taking long inhales.
“Oh, Moon Goddess, you are so soft...” Elena mumbled, in awe, “Like a giant plush toy!” Her arms wrapped around his neck, barely reaching half of it, and lowered him towards her, so she could disappear into that fluffy world.
“I think I will rename you Fluffin from today. Craken is just too mighty.” She murmured, receiving a huff.
A sudden realisation interrupted their bonding moment.
“Um, could you please let me grab some clothes?” A nervous cough escaped her throat. She knew his human side was there. He could watch her through his wolf’s eyes.
“And don’t peek, Fluffin,” She added when the wolf moved away.
After finally spotting a change of clothes in the hollow of a tree, Elena rushed back, almost running, excited to spend some more time with her mate...
Only to freeze on the spot.
Mirko was standing there, in all his masculine splendour, like a god of the woods. His feet were firmly planted on the ground, legs swollen with muscles slightly apart, hefty arms crossed over his never-ending chest, and that raven hair soaked with rain only emphasised his high cheekbones.
Inhuman blue eyes, glinting with their very own light, were already on her, drinking her in from the top of her head to her bare feet, then back up again.
For some heartbeats, they just stared at each other.
"Fluffin?" He said with a husky voice, a deep baritone.
“I-I was-” She stuttered under that intense stare.
He arched an eyebrow. “You were...?”
Elena was speechless until a thought hit her.
“YOU!”
She pointed a finger at him.
Alarm replaced his stern’s expression, then he let out a quiet laugh.
“Why haven’t you called or texted?” With those little hands on her hips and feisty green eyes, Mirko thought that a little angel had just fallen from the sky and was irritated with the earthlings.
“Why weren’t you angry before?” He asked confused, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I was with Fluffin before.” She replied, as if he should have known. Mirko’s nostrils flared, not liking that nickname at all.
However he was too overwhelmed, too distracted by those instants he had just spent with her to really care.
In a blink, the Alpha stood in front of her, looming over that petite figure.
‘God, this close he looks even more breathtakingly beautiful.’
“Come here, mate..” He murmured.
Trapping her in his thick arms, he placed his chin on top of her head and pressed her right cheek on his bare chest. Elena had probably blushed in all shades of red by then, and invented some new ones too.
When she placed her hands on his solid chest, a rumbling animalistic sound came from deep within him. And Elena loved it. She shuddered at that show of masculinity.
The two mates remained like that for so long that the weather changed and the sky darkened. Embracing each other, with an army of tingles exploding wherever their skins touched.
After a while, Mirko dropped a featherlight kiss on top of her head and pulled back to look at her. His arms still belted around her.
“I’m sorry if I didn’t call you.” He broke the peaceful sound of the rain. “I wanted to give you space after your friend’s accident.” Elena had to tilt back to glance at him. He was so tall - it was comical.
“Really?”
“Really.” Mirko confirmed, sincerity shining in his eyes. “And I’m not the most technological werewolf... I don’t, um, have a cellphone.” He had a bashful look on his face and a small blush. Elena’s heart swelled.
“And why didn’t you call at my packhouse?” He tiled his head in the same way Craken had done before.
“Well...I tried...but...” She clamped her mouth shut, cheeks heating up.
The truth was she was shy. So very shy. Even the thought of him, being her mate, gave her palpitations.
Mirko lifted his hand and traced with his knuckles the right side of her face down to the her chin, leaving behind a path of sparks. He watched her with interest.
Her stomach clenched, her breath was stuck on her throat somewhere.
“I have missed you too, Elena” He sighed deeply, understanding why she was upset after he hadn’t reached out to her.
“I didn’t say that I mi-” She began to tease only to be interrupted by his nose brushing hers. They were so close that she could get lost in the complex facets of his eyes. Eyes that hid a universe of emotions and secrets.
The air sizzled between them.
When he leaned forward, a few more millimetres, and his eyelids lowered in anticipation, nervousness possessed her. Being trapped between his bare chest and muscular arms, under that mesmerising gaze and wrapped in his wonderful scent... all that was too much for her young heart.
Elena had kissed a bunch of guys, but this one was her mate.
Black Alpha.
‘Intimidating’ was the understatement of the century.
So, the sassy alpha’s daughter freaked out and decided to speak, ruining the moment. Those intense instants before two lips brushed for the first time.
“Ehm, Mirko..” She swallowed.
He hummed in response, opening his dark blue eyes oh so slowly. They were filled with a dangerous mixture of possessiveness and lust.
“H-how did you enter my territory... without getting notice?”
He had leaned back as she began to speak.
The magical spell was broken.
If Mirko minded, he didn’t show it.
Titilas, however....
‘Why?? Why do I need to share my body with youuu?!’ Titilas cried out. Elena could imagine her wolf pulling her hair out of exasperation.
Technically her question was important, he was an intruder. A very sexy and gorgeous one.
A mixture of concern for his safety and her pack’s inability to detect him tugged at Elena’s heart.
“Don’t forget who I am, mate.” He winked at her, playfully, “It was easy to sneak among your father’s warriors.”
She felt a little nauseous at the mention of her dad. What would he do if he sees Mirko here? “Ouch.”
“What’s wrong? Did I hurt you?” He quickly scanned her face, anxiety filling his vivid eyes. She was so tiny and delicate that Mirko was afraid of accidentally bruise her. This mate bond was affecting his ability to think clearly, considering she was a strong werewolf, not a doll.
“No,” her mouth curled into an amused smile, “I’m not made of jelly. Don’t forget who I am.” She referred to his previous statement.
“Yeah, a little mate. That’s what you are.” Saying that, he sat crossed legs, dragging her along with him. He had no intention of allow space between their skins. Those sparks were a balm.
“So what’s the matter?”
“I’m just worried of dad’s reaction when he finds out that his only daughter is the fated mate of Boogie-Alpha Wolf.”
His eyes drifted to her lips before they snapped back to her eyes.
“He isn’t my biggest fan, is he?”
“Well, not exactly...” Elena trailed off as his masculine chuckle made her stomach dip. He was a source of great distraction. Her good grades were in danger. Her heart too.
“Wait, what? Boogie who?” He frowned. Elena laughed and, in the spontaneity of the moment, clasped her arms around his neck, placing a noisy kiss on his cheekbone.
“It’s ok... we can wait to tell him, or everyone else. I don’t mind.” He nodded, staring at the grass with a small blush after the kiss.
“But not too long.” He added, eyes lingering on a certain spot of her neck.
Ignoring Elena’s weak protest, Mirko lifted her like she was a little potted plant, and deposited her between his legs.
Their whispers continued for a while, before Mirko sneaked back to his pack, hidden by the pitched darkness of the night.
In their bubble of a newly-born timid love, they hadn’t noticed a certain bush observing them... studying them attentively... with a pair of very familiar yellow eyes...
