Blood of Immortals

Chapter 18

I wanted to ask him why he had mentioned Selena last night. Are we referring to the same Selena? But it seemed he no longer remembered what he did or said yesterday. I decided to let it go in the meantime.

“So how do we call the gates?” I asked Gideon.

“Simple.” Then he raised the passes above his head and shouted.

“Gates!” Nothing happened.

“Are you sure this is how it works?” I asked him.

“Shhh,” he said, “I need to focus.”

Then, he shouted again. “Gates!” We waited, but still nothing. “Gates! Gates! Gates! Gates!”

Is he a kid? Repeating won’t make it work!

“Gideon, as you can see, it-”

Suddenly, the passes floated in the air. A bright light came out of it then, it grew bigger and bigger until it was over the height of Gideon.

I guess I was wrong.

“So, what were you saying?” asked Gideon, sarcastically.

I rolled my eyes and ignored his question.

“Let’s just go!”

Then we entered the gates.

I thought that after we entered the gates, things might be even more difficult. I prepared myself for it, but I didn’t expect us to face this kind of obstacle in the demon realm.

Of all the places!

Why did we have to land in a pile of mud, face down?!

So now, I and Gideon were walking in the demon realm, with mud all over our bodies. Gross!

“So where are you headed now?” he asked me.

“I am looking for the palace of wolves,” I answered absentmindedly.

“Why?” Suddenly, he was interested.

“I just want to confirm my identity.”

“You don’t know who you are?”

“I mean, I have to confirm who my parents are.” I started explaining.

“Some people told me I was Selena’s daughter.” Suddenly, he stopped walking. “What? You don’t believe me?” I asked him.

He looked at me as if seeing me for the first time. Wait, are those tears?

“Hey old man, are you crying?” He wiped his tears with his arms and gave me a big smile.

“Nuh!” he answered. “I was just distracted by your smell.”

“Seriously?” I glared at him then I walked ahead of him.

“Aroa!” He called.

“I’ll bring you to the palace of wolves.”

“You know where it is?” I looked back.

“More than anyone else.”

Wow, I didn’t know Gideon was so knowledgeable! My respect for him went up tremendously.

“Do you know how we can get inside?”

“Easy.”

We were arrested and I knew why.

It was because of this idiot beside me. The moment we were near the gates, he got crazy.

“Let us enter,” he told the palace guards. “Selena’s heir is here!”

“Go away!” one of the guards answered.

“Don’t make me repeat myself,” he argued with the guards.

“Gideon, what are you doing?” I asked him while pinching his arm. “Are you trying to get us killed?”

I deeply regret that I trusted him, but it’s too late now.

“Stop pinching me and just wait for it Aroa, they will bring us inside.” He told me, confidently.

“Arrest them!” said one of them.

All of a sudden, several guards came their swords pointing toward us.

“See?” whispered Gideon.

Crazy!
