Chapter Watching
The Elders and a few of the turned are also there. They all look confused and stricken. They must be worried how long this killing spree is gonna be and who is the next victim.
Someone I’m not surprised to see here is Link. He just so happens to be arguing with Sam. They are in a heated debate about something.
“I’m telling you, this is not the same person!” insists Link, vehemently shaking his head and pointing at my blood on the ground.
“It has to be!” argues Sam. “Unless you are suggesting there are two crazy murderers running around our little sleepy town, it has to be the same person who murdered Aurora!” He growls in frustration, running his fingers through his hair.
“Why would they do that? What is the point!” Link yells back, getting up in Sam’s face.
“What was the point of Aurora's murder? Maybe whoever killed her had planned on killing both of them! How do I know? You were supposed to be his best friend!” Sam continues to point out. “Maybe it was you!” he yells in his face.
“What?!” screams Link… who starts to sweat a bit. Nervously, he looks over his shoulder. “Why would I kill my best friend?”
“Well, you are the one who said it wasn’t the same person! Unless you killed Aurora…” Josh suggests.
Link pales and shakes his head. “No, I didn’t…”
“Well, then it has to be the same person!” Danny concludes.
“That doesn’t even make any sense!” argues Link. “Sure, it’s the same knife, but nothing else would be the same! Justin said Aurora was almost raped… No one in their right mind would do that to Justin!”
“Well, then, maybe he just killed himself!” Sam yells sarcastically.
“That also doesn’t make any sense. Where is the body? It’s not like he was a full vampire and could just get up and walk away…” whispers Rose.
“That’s true!” Link finally agrees with someone. And it just so happened to be a girl… Maybe because girls have the ability to think through their emotions and keep a calm head and not blow up at one another at the slightest drop of a hat. Not saying girls can’t be fierce! Because they can totally kick ass if they want to.
“It’s different!” Link continued on his argument. “Maybe they just set it up to make it look like it was the same person so only one person could take the fall for two murders…”
Something about the way Link said that didn’t sit well with me. He has a calculating mind at times. Even though most of the time he spends playing video games and flirting with girls, he is very smart.
“There is no evidence one way or the other, but I still have a hard time believing that there were two separate murders, and if it was a suicide, which I highly doubt, we still don't know what happened to Justin’s body,” concludes Josh.
“I wouldn’t put it past Justin to commit suicide… Did you guys see him yesterday? He was a wreck… But I couldn’t blame him for it. He loved Aurora so much…” Rose sobs.
“Justin wouldn’t do it. He was too set on his revenge for his love, which he totally deserves! But now that he is gone, we will just have to see that they both get their vengeance. Probably falls to Victor to see that we end whoever it is causing all this death,” Sam states.
“Victor looks ready to tear the town apart right now,” Josh mentions.
“Can you blame him?” Link snarks. “He just lost his son!”
“It’s almost as tragic as Romeo and Juliet…” Rose whimpers.
Poor Rose, I’ll have to make it up to her somehow. She lost a good friend.. Then I go and pull a disappearing act like this. The girl is probably scared someone else she cares about will die soon.
Which is only the truth. Someone will die!
“I don't care what you say. This is a copy-cat killing, and nothing you say will change my mind!” Link yells and storms away.
“He has got to be the worst best friend I have ever seen,” snarls Sam. “First he tries to steal Aurora away from Justin, and this wasn’t even the first time it’s happened, either. I’ve seen him when we were in high school trying to get Aurora alone and telling her to leave Justin, but she was a good girl and wouldn’t put up with Link’s crap. Then, when Justin needs him the most he basically ditches him.”
Sam is a hothead, and I wouldn’t put it past him to tear someone apart. He just told Link a couple days ago he would pound him if he touched his girl again. But I don't think Sam would hurt Aurora.
However this bit of gossip about Link hurt. Has Link betrayed me? We were supposed to be brothers! Rory never told me any of this. I guess she was trying to spare my friendship with Link.
“Well, maybe Justin just wanted to be alone,” argues Rose.
I guess being a girl makes her more sensitive to others emotions. Because she is right! I don't want anyone to touch me, talk to me, console me. I didn’t want any of it. I just want Aurora back.
“It doesn’t matter! Link should have been with Justin to make sure he was okay,” Josh agrees. “Emma is beside herself! She really loved Aurora as a sister, and as such, she thought of Justin as a big brother. She is scared to leave her house! Not that I blame her. I am gonna go see her in a bit to make sure she is okay… This whole town is going crazy!
“Well, to be honest, none of us should have let Justin alone. We all knew his Chosen had just died, and we all knew he was close to losing it at the funeral!” Danny mumbles. He seems to be legitimately frustrated at the situation. Maybe he is worried about his girlfriend, Jenny. She is a human too, and if Aurora was murdered, what’s to stop someone from murdering all the humans?
“You are right! It’s all our fault!” Rose moans. Tears have been trailing down her face, and the self recrimination shows on her face. It definitely wasn’t Rose who called Aurora.
“I don’t know what to do, guys! All I know is it wasn’t one of us,” Sam sighs. “Danny and Josh, watch your girls! Rose, stay close to TJ. We need to be careful and protect each other. If anyone sees anything off, let us know!”
“Will do, boss man!” responds Danny.
“Sure! Catch you guys later,” says Josh as he turns to head off, presumably to see how Emma is doing.
I turn to leave too, to go watch my best friend.
