“Yes,” William responded.
In honesty, he didn’t bring it with him, but Ben can send it over.
“Have you made up your mind to marry me?” Vanessa asked again.
William nodded. “Of course!”
“In that case, shall we get married now?” asked Vanessa.
She knew where the City Hall was. It was less than a ten–minute drive away from Lantrie Medical Hospital.
“Okay,” William replied.
“Dad, rest for a while. We are going to get the marriage license.“ Vanessa sat by the bed and held Henry’s hand.
Henry’s eyes turned red. “Okay, okay.”
He tightened his hold on Vanessa’s hand and said, “Vanessa, look forward and live a happy life in the future. Manage your family well.”
“I will,” Vanessa responded with a choked–up voice.
She knew what Henry meant. He wanted her to forget about Jackson.
She had forgotten him a long time ago,
“Mr. Sanchez, Vanessa, and I will be husband and wife after we register the marriage license, and I will be your son–in–law. There’s nothing else I can do for you, and I won’t be giving Vanessa an engagement gift. Instead, I’ll use the money to get Danny the cochlear implants,” said William.
Henry was touched upon hearing the offer, but he immediately refused. “No… no…”
He was deeply grateful. Even though he couldn’t accept the kindness, he knew he could now trust William with Vanessa since he had such a kind heart.
In a marriage, people were usually attracted by their partner’s appearance at first and finally remained faithful to one another due to virtues.
“Dad, we’ll get the marriage license first. Have a good rest. You will be better,” said William.
“Okay, okay,” Henry said two “okay” in a row.
Vanessa used sign language to ask Danny to take good care of Henry. Danny quickly gestured back, indicating he would take good care of Henry.
Vanessa and William left the ward.
As they reached the stairs, she said, “Once we get the license, it’s a lifelong commitment.”
“Yeah, a lifelong commitment!” William reached out and took Vanessa’s hand.
Vanessa stiffened slightly but did not withdraw her hand.
William led Vanessa downstairs. Henry’s ward was on the second floor, so they didn’t take the elevator.
He said, “I will follow through on everything I said. I will be faithful to our marriage and treat you well.”
“Thank you, and so will ” Vanessa replied.
William turned his head and rubbed Vanessa’s head as he said, “Everything will be okay.”
“Yeah” There was a glint of determination in Vanessa’s eyes.
At City Hall, Vanessa went to the restroom.
Ben handed over his ID to William and passed him the wristwatch as a reminder. “Mr. Hawk, we made an appointment last week to sign a contract with Neville Clark at 10 o’clock today. We only have half an hour left. What do you….”
“You should go for it!” said William.
“I can’t. Neville is a tough one. He’s not going to sign the contract if you are not there in person.”
“Let it be then. When Vanessa came back from the bathroom, William immediately went toward her.
Ben looked at William’s back with mixed feelings.
“Mr. Hawk and Ms. Yost have been in a six–year relationship, and I am a witness to their relationship.
“Mr. Hawk doted on Ms. Yost deeply and it can be said to be deeply ingrained in him.

Chapter 7
“We’re married now, so your problems are my problems. I’ll ask about your brother’s cochlear implants in a bit,” William said.
He was waiting for Keith Cooper to return from abroad.
Keith should be arriving soon since he caught an early morning flight.
“No, you don’t need to worry about the cochlear implants. You’ve already helped me out a lot, Vanessa hurriedly replied.
William kept the marriage license in his pocket. He put his hands on Vanessa’s shoulders, looked at her intently, and said, “From now on, you don’t have to shoulder everything yourself. You can rely on me, your husband.”
Vanessa quickly looked away, suddenly feeling a tinge in her nose, and her eyes turned red.
She had always thought of herself as a strong–minded lady.
But when she heard William’s words, she was deeply touched.
Lately, she had been exhausted.
“Let’s go.” William reached out and touched Vanessa’s head. He then took her hand and left the City Hall.
They hurried to the ward.
The nurse was changing Henry’s IV bag then. She told Henry that after it was done, he could rest for 10 minutes before changing his clothes and heading for the treatment room.
Seeing Vanessa come back, Henry looked at her in eagerness.
Vanessa knew what he was thinking about, so she showed him the marriage license right away.
Henry took the marriage license with his bony hands.
When he looked at the photo on the marriage license, his eyes became moist, and he kept saying, “Good, good.”
He could finally rest assured.
It was as if the string tightly wound around his heart released suddenly, and his hand holding the marriage license dropped. His body convulsed, and he spat out a mouthful of blood…
