Chapter 60
William took Vanessa to watch the stars in the open space where they roasted the potatoes in the afternoon.
There were only a few tents in the open space.
Each tent was far apart, and there was a fire in front of each tent.
The flames burned, giving off a warm feeling.
There was no moon in the sky, but the sky was filled with stars.
The stars seen in the suburbs were indeed much brighter than those seen in the city.
The stars flickered as if they could really blink.
“Are you cold?” William put his arm around Vanessa’s shoulders.
They sat on picnic mats.
She didn’t know if it was because the farmers or William were considerate. Besides the picnic mat, they also prepared blankets and cushions. It was warm to sit on them and cover herself with a blanket.
I’m not cold. Vanessa leaned on William’s shoulder and looked up at the stars. The entire world had opened up.
She asked William, “Willie, when is your birthday?”
William turned to look at Vanessa and smiled. “You want to celebrate my birthday?”
She called him Willie. It sounded a little silly, but he liked it.
“Yes. I’ll celebrate your birthday with you.” Vanessa was a little embarrassed.
She added in her heart. “If possible, I would like to celebrate your birthday every year with you.”
“My birthday is on March 9,” William said.
“Okay. I remember it,” Vanessa also said with a smile.
William waited for an opportunity to make a request. “I also want a birthday present besides you spending my birthday with me”
“Okay.
“I want you to prepare it yourself.”
“No problem,” Vanessa agreed.
William kissed the side of Vanessa’s face.
Vanessa leaned into William’s arms and pointed at the stars in the sky. They are so bright.”
“Do you like them?” William asked.
“Yes, I do.”
“We can come here every quarter and watch the stars shift.
“Good”
“When Danny and Dad get better, our whole family will come here together.”
“Yes,” Vanessa was extremely touched.
The two of them chatted for a long time.
They had met on a blind date and had only known each other for less than a month. When they chatted, they were like old friends, from far and wide, relaxed and happy.
The two of them couldn’t help but laugh when they talked about the fun things that happened when they were little. Unknowingly, the few bonfires elsewhere had been extinguished. Only their tent and bonfire were left in the open space.
Vanessa took out her phone and looked at the time. It was already one in the morning.
“It’s late. Shall we go back to sleep?” Vanessa suggested.
Only then did she realize that she had been lying in this position on William’s lap. She quickly asked, “Is your leg numb? Let me massage it for you.”

She reached out to pinch William’s thigh.
William’s voice suddenly became hoarse and low, charming and smiling. Tll let you touch me when we return to our room later.”
I’m not… Vanessa’s face was flushed with embarrassment.
William laughed happily.
“You’re really…” Vanessa knew that William was teasing her. She felt extremely helpless.
“It’s one o’clock in the morning. A new day has begun. Today, Danny’s cochlear implants will be turned on. Let’s set off fireworks to celebrate for him. William got up. His legs were really a little numb.
He stood for a while and went to the side of the tent to carry the fireworks over.
“Here, you lit it.” He took a small burning stick from the fire and handed it to Vanessa.
“Let’s do it together,” Vanessa said.
William smiled and reached out to hold Vanessa’s hand. The two of them lit a bucket of fireworks together.
Bang!
Fireworks bloomed in the air, instantly filling the sky with brilliance.
“May Danny’s cochlear implants go smoothly. May Dad live a long life,” said William after lighting the fireworks.
“It’s going to be great,” said Vanessa, who, inspired by William, felt confident and hopeful about the future.
“There are also small fireworks. Are you going to light them?” William asked.
“Yes”
William immediately went to fetch a crate of the small fireworks. He took a handful of small fireworks and handed them to Vanessa.
Vanessa placed the fireworks in her hands and lit them up.
She walked a little further away from the fire. The darker it was, the brighter the fireworks were.
She held a small firework in each hand and drew beautiful arcs in the air.
The feeling was as if she had returned to her childhood for the New Year.
Her father was still healthy back then. He would buy small fireworks for her and her brother every year.
Their father would bring them to set off fireworks on New Year’s Eve and the first night of the new year.
William watched as Vanessa set off fireworks. His lips were still curled into a gentle smile.
It was nice to fall in love with someone else, simple and happy.
They went back to the hospital after breakfast the following day.
Keith personally turned on Danny’s cochlear implants at 10 a.m.
And Keith personally adjusted it after turning it on..
Then, he let Danny feel the sound of the cochlear implants.
Hearing the voice, Danny raised his hand excitedly and made some sounds.
Ben immediately signed to comfort Danny. “Danny, take it easy and relax. Let’s relax. We will adapt it better and better every day. You will hear more clearly every day.”
“Thank you, thank you!” Danny kept signing. The tears welled up in his eyes.
“Don’t cry. We’ll get better day by day. Then I will practice with you daily, and you will soon be able to speak normally.” Ben was also excited.
Next, Ben’s mission had truly begun!
The first mission was to teach Danny to say the word dad.
After a while, Keith said, “Okay. We can let Danny move around. We will adjust the cochlear implants several times to achieve the best effect of the cochlear implants.”
“Can I teach Danny to say Dad today?” Ben asked.
Keith smiled evilly. “Don’t let Danny say Dad at you. Someone will beat you to death.”
Chapter 60
“I know” Ben also laughed.
He left the room with Danny.
William and Vanessa accompanied Henry in the ward.
Vanessa was concerned Henry would get excited, so she kept saying. “Dad, don’t get excited and worry. Danny’s surgery of cochlear implants before was successful. The cochlear implants will be turned on today, and then Danny can hear the voice. Danny could speak normally after hearing the voice and having language training for a while.
“Okay. I won’t be too excited. I won’t. Henry said that he was not excited. In fact, he was looking forward to hearing Danny speak and call him Dad.
“Dad, Dr. Cooper will be done in a while. Danny will be here soon” Vanessa held her father’s hand.
William also comforted Henry. “Dad, the cochlear implants are very effective. You don’t have to worry.”
“Okay. I’m not worried, Henry said as his eyes kept looking at the door.
In the corridor, Ben gestured at Danny while enunciating with his mouth open, “D, D, Dad…”
“D…D..” Danny tried hard to speak out.
Danny was over 5.6 feet tall but was like a one–year–old baby, struggling to speak.
“Great. Yes, that’s it. Ben gave Danny a thumbs–up and signed to praise him.
Danny was encouraged, and his eyes were filled with excitement.
“Come on, let’s do it again. D, D….. Dad…..”
“D…”
“Yes, yes. Great. Ben encouraged Danny again. “Let’s go. We can go to the ward now.”
There was no need to make it sound so standard. Just the sound was enough to make everyone who cared about Danny excited.
