Blind date turned proposal (Josie and Dexter)

Chapter 1400 Double Happiness Arrives

"Then stop being a worrywart."

Juliette looked at Josie with a complex expression. "Do you understand? Two years of affection doesn't just disappear easily. Even if he rejected me harshly, there's still a glimmer of hope... I hope we can just be friends..."

Josie's heart skipped a beat. She subconsciously tightened her folder, trying to calm the storm in her heart.

Three days had passed, and Dexter still hadn't sent her any messages. The ones she had sent earlier remained unanswered.

Josie tried to convince herself not to care, reminding herself of the familiar feeling of disappointment that came with high expectations.

Yet, she couldn't help but feel pitiful. Juliette could at least express her sadness, but Josie couldn't say anything.

After Juliette left, Josie's phone suddenly vibrated violently. Josie snapped back to reality and saw that it was a call from Morgan. "What's up?" she asked, annoyed.

"I guess you're as curious as I am about how Dexter managed to get out of this mess."

Josie raised an eyebrow.

As dusk fell, the city was bathed in hues of orange. In the bustling city center, numerous tourists stopped to take photos.

Dexter's investigation had ended, and Mandarin Oriental Hotel was back in business. Those who had avoided him before now flocked to him, making the atmosphere lively once again.

Josie wore a light green dress under her coat as she walked alongside Morgan into the hotel. Ryan hurried over.

"Yesterday, Dexter went to the jewelry building with that woman and had a gold lock, a pair of gold bracelets, and a gold ring made."

Morgan glanced at Josie. "Who's that woman?"

"Her identity is still unknown for now."

Josie's lips curled. "Tacky."

Morgan chuckled. "He's tacky, and yet you agreed to come here today with me."

"After working for such a long time, I feel like losing some money for fun."

Morgan naturally agreed and draped his arm over hers, finding a private room for them.

Most of the guests had arrived, all of them partners of Eccentric Corporation, with some prestige. It was a gathering Morgan had arranged.

Each person had a stack of chips, piled up high.

met

As soon as Josie and Morgan entered, they heard a few people joking, Mr. Bastille made us wait for so long. Turns out he went topick up his girlfriend."

The room was heated. Morgan took the coat that Josie had removed and hung it to the side. He said, "Don't spread rumors. She's just a friend." Everyone showed a teasing smile, clearly not buying it.

At the square tables, one of the CEOS' wives sat at one end, helping to shuffle the cards. "Double happiness for the Russells. I never thought Mr. Bastille would come out to socialize. I heard that they used to be at odds with each other

After the cooperation between Eccentric Corporation and Olsen Group, Morgan's identity was no longer hidden.

Morgan pulled out a chair for Josie. "In the industry, there's no such thing as being at odds forever. Yesterday's enemies can be today's friends."

The lady on the right chuckled,

covering her mouth,

"Congratulations to Mr. Russell

Then. Did you congratulate him, Mr.

Bastille? He's at Mandarin Oriental Hotel today, too."

Josie was slightly taken aback. I see. no wonder Morgan brought me here.

"Not yet, but we'll soon meet," Morgan said as he played a card. "What does 'double happiness' mean?"

"Do we even need to discuss this?" chimed in Jeffrey Lamont on the right. "He dodged a bullet, and a happy event is just around the corner."

"I know about Dexter's investigation ending, but what does 'a happy event is around the corner' mean?"

Feeling utterly bored, Josie played an ace. On her left, Jeffrey's wife Tiffany Townsend glanced at her cards and conceded, saying she couldn't beat it.
