Blind date turned proposal (Josie and Dexter)

Chapter 1325 Combing Her Hair

"You... I... Did you bring me back?" she asked.

"Yeah, I didn't expect you to get drunk when the Jägermeister's alcohol content is low."

Josie clicked her tongue. That Jägermeister has aged. It would be more surprising if I didn't get drunk.

She finished the hangover remedy and finally noticed she was in her pajamas. Gasping, she asked, "Who bathed me?" "I did."

His candid admission left Josie at a loss for how to react.

She almost laughed in exasperation.

The floor-to-ceiling windows slid open automatically, bathing the room in sunlight. Josie sat on the large bed, her hair tousled, looking at the man in annoyance. Despite so, the scene appeared harmonious. Dexter couldn't help but chuckle, his lingering drowsiness completely dissipating. He moved to stand behind her, combing her hair naturally. "Are you going back to the Olsen Residence today?"

Cradling her hand in her palm, Josie grew irritated at the mere thought of that, responding with a disgruntled hum.

Regardless, Claudia had already issued an ultimatum, and she didn't want to cause a scene or make things more awkward than it already was.

"What are you going to say when you go back?"

Josie stated firmly, "There's not much to say. Grape must carry my surname. Worse comes to worst, I'll bring Pop with me."

Dexter did not express his opinion on her decision.

Sensing Dexter's silence, Josie deflated. She knew her decision wasn't exactly practical. Paul's current medication and health condition were entirely under the Olsens' control. She wasn't even sure she could provide better care for him if she insisted on taking him with her.

She chuckled drily. "It feels horrible to be at someone's mercy. I lack the power to fight back against them, but I don't want to compromise either."

Josie boasted fine-quality hair, lustrous black and perfectly straight, complemented by her fair complexion. Dexter had just finished combing her hair, and as he did, he couldn't help but comment, "Looks like you didn't include me in your plans."

Josie paused, slightly taken aback by his statement before saying, "We're close to the three-month deadline, Dexter."

Their agreement would end soon, and they'd go their separate ways after that.

Dexter, however, was nonchalant. "But it's not here yet."

"What do you want?"

Dexter did not respond to this. Instead, he said, "Look at it from another perspective, Claudia's insistence on Grape taking the Olsen family's name is not entirely a bad thing. At the very least, it shows that she has expectations for this child, and wants to entrust the Olsen family's entire future to you."

Josie was surprised. It does sound better if you put it that way.

"I hadn't thought about it like that."

"I just want to tell you they might not mean any harm," Dexter said.

He carefully selected a hair clip, securing her hair in place. "After you go back, try to remain as calm as possible. If you can't, it's better to just keep quiet. Upsetting yourself isn't worth it."

Josie did feel more composed after hearing that. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and asked, "When did you learn to do this?"

"Thanks to your daughter."

The little girl insisted on dressing up beautifully every day. Dexter didn't know how, so he sought guidance from Marilyn. As the saying goes, practice makes perfect, so he eventually mastered it. Josie chuckled, imagining Dexter, who was usually reticent and aloof, struggling to learn how to tie up hair.

Turning around, she saw him bathed in the light, a faint scent of alcohol still clinging to him. Suddenly, she was reminded of something and quietly lifted the covers to peek underneath. Thankfully, her clothes were still intact.

This action, however, did not escape Dexter's notice. He was both amused and slightly annoyed. "Josie, just what kind of person do you think I am?"

Josie sheepishly climbed out of bed. "A monster, of course."

This man is usually aggressive in bed, but this time, he has surprising self-control. It's unbelievable.
