Chapter 1317 Household Registration
Claudia simply stared at her, not offering any further rebuttal.
Then, she took a deep breath. "What are your thoughts about him?"
Odd. Recently, there's been a sudden surge of people posing such questions. Josie herself couldn't quite grasp it. In a soft voice, she said, "I don't believe I'm obligated to share details of my personal life." "Personal life? It seems that the tension between you two wasn't as intense as I thought."
Subconsciously, Josie denied it, yet it was indeed the truth. Compared to their initial reunion, things were definitely different.
Seeing Josie silent, Claudia gently spoke. "Ever since you returned, Dexter's attention has been completely on you. Anyone could see that everything he does is for you. Tell me, is there anything else tying you two together?"
Tying us together... Josie couldn't answer.
Claudia spoke up again. "So, do you still love him?"
Josie looked up. "You've crossed the line."
Claudia furrowed her brows. "I don't mean anything else, but if you're still considering, the Olsen family can assist in rekindling this relationship. A remarry is not out of the question."
Remarry? Josie abruptly stood up, showing signs of anger. She had never considered that before. "I've told you, you've crossed the line. Some matters aren't as straightforward as you think. Or is it that the Olsen family is gradually declining, so you're planning to use a marriage alliance between me and Dexter to save it?"
Claudia also stood up in response to that harsh comment. "Neither your father nor I meant it that way. We were just considering your future!"
"You guys don't need to worry anymore."
After uttering those words, Josie headed straight toward the room, only to halt halfway through.
"The reason I was with Dexter was because we had an agreement. We were to live as we used to for a hundred days. If it weren't for the Olsen family, I probably would be at Russell Mansion by now." She took the initiative to explain, but it only deepened Claudia's confusion.
"Why's there such an agreement?"
"It's because of..." Grape. However, Josie couldn't reveal the truth.
Thus, she took a deep breath and spat, "You don't need to know." It's so peculiar that everyone seems to think Dexter and I can get back together. Tsk. The more people think like this, the less I want to do it. Even though Dexter's attitude had shifted over the past two months, even going as far as being willing to have Grape carry Josie's last name, it was tantamount to handing over custody rights.
The significance of the contract had almost diminished, and so he did it purely for her.
However, to remarry, to plunge once more into such perilous turmoil, Josie had never considered it.
That night, Josie had a difficult time sleeping.
When Josie woke up the next day and started freshening up, she noticed the red mark left by Dexter on her neck. She was momentarily stunned. No wonder Claudia asked me that question. It seems I can't blame her for it.
Josie let out a sigh, choosing a silk scarf to shield her neck, all the while mentally cursing Dexter hundreds of times.
He left to handle the household registration, knowing the process would be much smoother with his connections. Early in the morning, there weren't many people at the Olsen Residence. Josie quietly slipped out and headed straight for the local police station.
Based on the timing, Larry should have already arrived. However, Josie had been waiting outside for quite a while and there was still no sign of him.
The call was made, and surprisingly, it was answered.
"Ms. Warren, please hold on, we've been followed. We're currently trying to shake them off," answered Larry.
Followed? Josie couldn't help but feel anxious, "By whom? Is there any danger?"
"You can trust Moses' driving skills. It's just that the one pursuing us is a bit troublesome, so it might take some time. All you need to do is wait patiently." Despite his words, Josie remained worried, and between each of her breath, there was a scent of intense anxiety.
