Chapter 10
CHAPTER 10
Damn him! I really wanted to sleep in this morning, I thought to myself as I flipped back the grey satin comforter to the bed Dominic, and I share. With the scent of coffee wafting throughout the house, I know this will not be achieved and with a sigh I push myself out of the king size bed and stumble my way down the stairs and into the kitchen where the aroma of the coffee brewing soothes my agitation of being woken up by the amazing smell. Nic smiles at me, handing me a cup of coffee at the same time.
“Hey babe, I really did try to sleep in.” His smile turns into a wide grin as he says this to me, causing dimples to form near the corners of his lips as he looks my way. Leaning towards me, he brushes his lips briefly across mine and then of course he winks. Grr, he knows that is my greatest weakness! Sitting my cup of coffee on the counter I wrap my arms around him, snuggling into his side and absorbing the heat from his body. Looking into his silver-blue eyes, I am just centimeters away from kissing him when I hear someone clearing their throat behind us.
Turning my head, I look over my shoulder to see who is so obnoxiously interrupting us before my cheeks suddenly flame red. “Uh, hey dad, good morning. Would you like a cup of coffee?” I have no idea why I am so embarrassed that dad caught us being affectionate towards one another. He has seen us kiss before but for some reason it just seems different being home and him witnessing the act. James grunts a response that sounds close to a yes before he slides into one of the two island seats situated at the breakfast bar, accepting the cup I hand him.
Thankfully, Ella appears in the entry way just then, so whatever dad may have wanted to say to me is left unspoken. El flops down next to my dad and says, “coffeeee, please!” Her grin infectious.
I laugh at her, before I can tease her though, Dominic ever the kind person that he is, is already pouring her a cup. I would have made her suffer for a few minutes, myself… “Okay,” dad begins after a couple of sips from his mug; “I was thinking that we will stick with the original rotation for patrol, Ella. Which will put you and Rifqa out tonight and then tomorrow night Ali and her group can go out, that way, everyone can finally have a solid night of rest.” Watching El, I see her face fall in disappointment at this statement.
Realizing she was hoping to spend the evening with Devon, I speak up; “hey dad. I was hoping to patrol tonight myself, see if I can get a feel for what has been happening around the town. Maybe Rifqa and I could patrol tonight instead, that way I can tell everyone from my group what to do for tomorrow night when we venture out.”
Ella lights up at the suggestion, turning eager eyes towards my dad, she waits for him to answer me. “Well check with Rifqa first, but if she doesn’t have an issue with the switch, I don’t have a problem with it.”
Ella squeals with happiness before jumping up from her seat to hug me. “I’ll go check with her right now!” She states excitedly, causing me to laugh at her child-like jubilation and then in the blink of an eye, she has darted out of the kitchen in search of Rifqa.
As I watched El run out of the kitchen, I pulled Dom aside and asked if he had seen anything sparking between Chris and Rifqa. “I think they have the soul mate bond happening to them too. Do you find it odd that our entire circle has all found our soul connections?” I continue to stare at him curiously as I wait for him to reply.
Shrugging his shoulders, Nic places both his hands upon my shoulders before saying; “Let us not get a head of ourselves. It could just be that they are simply attracted to each other.” Of course he has to go and be logical about it. I roll my eyes at him and then whisper under my breath, whatever. I know I am right.

“I have one task for you to implement my dear Beth.” Cal gazed into Beth’s emerald green eyes. “I need for you and Joey to kidnap the witch for me!”
As Beth looked lovingly into his colorless eyes, she nodded vigorously in agreement to his request. “Anything for you my darling.” She smiled towards him adoringly and then turning on her heel, she walked out of the warehouse to locate Joey for the task of finding her daughter, she left Cal to his thoughts.

Surprisingly, our patrol is incredibly quiet and uneventful. This does not help me in trying to figure out what we are dealing with though. Standing on the sidewalk, I look at my wristwatch and see that it is hedging on midnight. As I am getting ready to suggest to Rifqa that we can go ahead and call it a night… “Oomph!” Something unexpectedly slams into me from behind. Even though Rifqa and I are on high alert, as we walk along the streets surrounding the neighborhood, they have still managed to catch me off guard by the sudden movement and attack.
“NO! Alina!” I hear Rif struggling and shouting from somewhere just off to my right side. It would figure, that I would volunteer to take Ella’s place, and this would happen, I think to myself as I don’t even have a chance to react and throw magic out, to defend myself from what is trying to grab me. All to quickly my world goes dark as a cloth of some sort is placed over my head. I hear Rifqa shout, “ALINA!” and then I am thrown into some type of vehicle and I cannot hear anything more.
~~
My eyes snap open as I suck in air, as though I had momentarily stopped breathing. I glance around to ascertain my current situation and location only to see nothing. I have determined that the cloth has been removed from my head because the air I breathe is cleaner than when I had the cloth over my head and was breathing my own air in and out.
However, even with the cloth removed, it does me very little good, because wherever I am, it is pitch black. I would say I can’t even see my hands in front of my face, but since my arms and legs seem to be bound, I will just assume this to be true. Blinking a few times, I am hoping my eyes will adjust to the darkened room but there is absolutely no light anywhere, no moon light shining through windows, just complete and utter blackness. God, I bet Nic is totally freaking out right now. I wonder what Rifqa said when she arrived back at the house.I know, random thoughts but they seem to keep me calm for the moment.
Sometimes I forget that I am a witch. Just throwing that fact out there because I do not have to be sitting here this moment shrouded in the darkness. Once my ‘ah-ha’ moment arrives I laugh at myself for being so ridiculous. Shaking my head, I close my eyes and picture light all around me, and then I feel my body warming up. Opening my eyes, I see a soft golden glow emanating from my skin and smile at myself. Yeah, I’m a big dork, but I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned that fact before!
My eyes sweep across the vast emptiness that is before me. Taking in the pillars and cement flooring beneath me, I have surmised that I am currently locked up in a warehouse of sorts. If this is truly a warehouse, then it has to be the abandoned one that sits on the outskirts of town. Sighing, I close my eyes as I try to formulate a plan of escape.
