Chapter 1
“Beth wake up.” I hear Lucy, my sister, say while shaking me awake.
“Okay I’m up.” I mumble, sitting up in bed.
“Alright.” She grinned, running out of the room.
Getting out of bed ever so slowly, I walked to my closet. I grab my black jeans and a white top before walking to the bathroom to have a shower.
My name is Bethany Damien Chance. I am the daughter of the stringent and deadliest Alpha, in the world. Not his real daughter. I’m his adopted daughter. I have an adopted brother, Ashton and he is 17 years old. I have another brother called Daniel, my parents first own child who is 16. Then Lucy, my sister who is 12. My youngest sibling is Blake and he is ten years old. A very big family.
I’m the white wolf who can control the air element. It’s fun at times, when it comes to messing with my brothers.
Quickly getting dressed, I walk downstairs to the kitchen where everyone was sitting. We live in our own house and have a Pack house next door.
“Morning.” I smile, sitting down in my chair.
“Morning Beth.” Mom greeted me, handing me a plate of pancakes.
Ashton turned to look at me. “Can you drop me off to school? Seeing as you’re the only one who has a car…” he glanced at dad.
“You’re wolf. Run.” I answered, staring at him.
He rolled his eyes at me. “If you didn’t want to take me to school, you could have just said no. It was that simple.”
“Sky, Jake will be coming back tomorrow.” Dad said to mom.
I turned to look at him. “Really? Tomorrow?” I asked excitedly.
Dad nodded and I smiled. “Good. I can’t wait for Jake to come back. We have so much to catch up on. It’s been four years since he left.” I said.
“Bethany, he needs to concentrate on his job now. He’s been to Beta school for four hears just for this opportunity. He has to prove to Ashton he’s a good Beta.” Dad explained as if I was going to hide Jake away from them all.
I nodded, not saying anything. He was my best friend. We would have fun, regardless of what anyone said.
“I’m being serious, Beth.” Dad said, raising an eyebrow at me. I nodded my head again, starting to eat my pancakes. Hs turned to look at Ashton. “You need to start behaving now and become more sensible if you want to become an Alpha.”
I huffed, holding in my laughter. Ashton glared at me. “I will, Dad.” He glanced at him before staring at me. “You haven’t even found your mate.” He smirked at me.
Dad growled, slapping him on the back of his head. “Apologise to your sister. You do not talk to her like that. She’s older.”
Ashton sighed. “Sorry.” He mumbled, getting uo and walking out of the room muttering he was going to get ready.
Daniel shook his head, and followed after him, shouting that they could go to school together. Dad stood up, pointing to Lucy and Blake who had finished their breakfast. “Come on. I’ll drop you two off.”
“I don’t really mind what Ashton said.” I said, standing up and picking up the plates. I followed mom to the kitchen.
“I know.” Mom chuckled, placing the plates down. “He’s right though. Everyone went to go and look for their mates last year. Layla found her mate.” She glanced at me and I shrugged my shoulders.
“But, mom having a mate just stops you from being independent.” I said and she shook her head.
“You don’t understand why mates are important yet Beth.” She shook her head. “Why don’t you go see Layla and tell her that Jake is coming?” Mom questioned and I nodded.
“Okay.” I answered her and she smiled as I walked out the kitchen.
Layla had already found her mate and his name is Kevin.
I walked out of our house and went to the pack house. I smiled at everyone who walked past me as I made my way upstairs. I went to the second floor and to the last door, and walked inside, before quickly turning around.
“Really guys.” I groaned. “You guys are going it like hungry animals.” I huffed as I heard shuffling.
“We are animals Beth.” I heard Kevin say and I rolled my eyes.
“You can look now, Beth.” Layla said and I turned around to see them both in bed.
“Well it looks like you’re not going to be stopping any time soon so I’ll make a move.” I started closing the door slowly. “I just came to say that jake is back.” I grinned as Layla squeaked.
“Omg really? I missed Jake so much.” she grinned and Kevin growled.
“Mine.” His voice was rumbled as he buried his face in her neck.
I rolled my eyes. “See you later.”
I went back downstairs and out the door.
Our pack house is six floors. First it was only four floors but mom changed it all when she became Luna. She made dad make it higher and bigger so people that are lower than omega’s live with everyone as well.
That’s the reason why we are the most powerful pack in the world. All of us stay together and no one betrays us.
I went to the park and sat down on a swing.
You find your mate when you’re 17 and now I’m 20 and I haven’t found mine at all. I don’t really want a mate because like I said to mom, mates don’t let you be free. I have seen how dad is with mom. Over protective, always glaring at every man who talks to mom. And mom finds it sweet that dad is ‘showing his love.’
But me, I find that annoying. It’s like getting rid of that mosquito that won’t leave you alone.
You think too much. Mates are a good thing. Lexi, my wolf said and I rolled my eyes.
Finally sleeping beauty is awake, I thought.
Oh shut up. She said and I mentally rolled my eyes.
Beth, come and help me with the shopping. Mom mind linked me and I nodded and started walking home.
I don’t go to college because I finished my four years. Well two to be exact but it was werewolf school so we had to learn a lot and now it’s all stored in my brain. I was really clever in school.
Beth, are you coming? Mom mindlinked me.
Yes mom. I replied, rolling my eyes.
I roll my eyes a lot.
