Chapter Creep
This unearthly beautiful man was following her around like a lost puppy, and her heart and soul waged war against her mind.
Her mind knew that this man could very well be in league with Mateo and Denise. Their time was already up; she counted the days with dread.
They had blamed her for 'ruining their good reputation', or so they blabbered on about when they had her tied up in that abandoned primary school. But cornering her, and having her beat up and left for dead was definitely the right way to go in terms of fixing said reputation.
Some part of her heart and soul however, demanded that she stop and actually talk to the guy.
*Snort* Like that was going to happen.
Guadalupe would have stayed at the library, but since this beautiful stranger decided that she was the most interesting person that they've ever met, sitting down at a table wasn't ideal.
Evasive maneuvers weren't working either. He still followed her around, asking questions about herself. She wasn't a complete bitch to not answer at all; she merely nodded or shook her head.
Seeing as she had some money saved up, she decided to treat herself as she tried to lose the pretty stranger by walking as fast as her short legs could take her. Surprisingly, even with his long legs and strides, he struggled to keep up with her; but she was getting tired and he was getting even more relentless.
Giving up, Guadalupe decided that the last bit of energy would be spent in getting her to the park, where she could detour and head to that building for the last time.
"Do you go to the university here?" Guadalupe nodded. "Huh? I haven't seen you around." She shrugged, side-stepping a businessman who had his head down, focused on his phone.
"Bella, please talk to me. I wanna hear your beautiful voice again." Guadalupe almost snorted. Almost.
"I'm sure you do." Her inner voice said, rolling their eyes.
Guadalupe shook her head, a soft smile unknowingly tugging at her lips. She usually kept her head slightly lowered, but she could feel his body heat radiating on her back. It was almost comforting. Almost.
"Please, bella? Tell me your name, at least." Guadalupe shook her head again, chuckling softly. For some reason, hearing him beg for her attention was amusing. She wasn't going to fall for Mateo and Denise's antics though.
He was going to speak again, but the words caught in his throat. "Why won't you- woah!" She turned just in time to see a six-foot-something, ethereally beautiful man, lose his footing and crash to the ground.
She snorted loudly and burst into a fit of giggles, covering her mouth with her free hand. The scene was so comical that no matter how hard she tried to stop, one look at the man on the ground and she would be sent back to square one.
Guadalupe crouched, still giggling and snorting wildly. "A-are you," *snort* "are you ok-ahahahahahahahaha!" *snort* "I'm so sorry." She really was sorry, but then again, she wasn't.
Guadalupe wished she didn't look at the man with her tear-blurry vision. He stared at her in the same way Lance stared at Tara, and, still hurtfully, how Mateo stared at Denise. The stabbing pain struck her heart, and she shook her head, wiping the tears of laughter from her eyes.
The man smiled, and Guadalupe's heart clenched. "I'm alright, bella." Guadalupe nodded, and stood straight, as did the beautiful stranger.
They stood in silence for what felt like an hour, when it might have only been a minute. Finally, her anxiety peaked, and Guadalupe took a minute step away. "I-uhm, I have to go." She had already turned on her heel when she heard his deep voice that sparked something inside of her that she deemed unholy.
"At least tell me your name, bella." She slowly faced him again, chancing a glance at his face. "Please."
She gulped, her eyes darting around her before settling on him again. Inhaling and licking her lips, she thought, "What more could happen?"
"Guadalupe." She finally said, and his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. A smile bloomed on his face, turning into a full-blown grin that made him more beautiful than he already was; Guadalupe was stunned.
Some unholy desire bubbled up inside of her when her name slipped off his lips; she shivered slightly, shaking her head. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Guadalupe. My name is Nox. " He said, still smiling beautifully.
Guadalupe returned his smile. "I enjoyed your company today, Nox. It was nice meeting you too." She continued to back away slowly, then shifted her gaze to her rear for a split-second before looking at him again. "Bye." She whispered, before spinning on her heel and speed-walking away.
She darted through the crowd, given an advantage with her height. Her heart pounded in her ears, and her hands felt clammy. Chancing a glance behind her, relief flooded her system when she saw that the beautiful stranger was frozen in his spot, staring at her with that same love-struck expression on his face. Her cheeks heated, and she faced forward again, continuing her journey to the park.
She exhaled shakily, a smile blooming on her face.
Guadalupe. Guadalupe. My God, what a beautiful name.Nox couldn't stop saying the name; Zev couldn't stop either. It brought them both pleasurable chills. Violetta's scent wafted into his nose, yet he remained in his spot, still staring at her rapidly retreating figure.
"Finally! I've been on a wild goose chase following your scent. What the hell have you been doing?" she stood at his side now, glancing between him and the direction he was staring in.
"What are you even looking at?" she asked, just as Guadalupe's figure disappeared.
Nox grinned, facing his sister. "Just my mate, running away from me." Violetta chuckled, placing a comforting hand on her older brother's shoulder.
"Doesn't she know that wolves enjoy the chase?" she asked humorously as they turned on their heels and walked back to Nox's vehicle.
Nox smirked, a plan already formulating in his head. "She'll find out soon enough. But by then, it'll be too late." Violetta chuckled, and they walked in comfortable silence before Nox stopped his sister with a hand on her shoulder.
"Is something wrong?" she asked, her eyes darting through the crowd and nose slightly elevated.
"No, but I need your help with something." Nox told her of his decision, and Violetta looked at him warily.
"I never thought I would have to say this, but, Nox that is kinda serial-killer creepy." Nox rolled his eyes.
"The only acceptable way mate will die is with me buried to the hilt inside of her."
And Nox couldn't agree more.
He shook his head, clearing the dirty thoughts that Zev conjured up after his statement.
He faced his sister again. "Well, how else am I going to know some basic things about her? She wouldn't even talk to me and I smelt fear on her the entire time."
Violetta sighed deeply, running both hands down her face before pulling out her cellphone. "What did you say her name was?"
"Guadalupe." Violetta raised an eyebrow. "Wow, what a name."
"I know, right?" Nox sighed dreamily, and the younger girl snorted. "You sound like a love-sick puppy."
"I feel like a love-sick puppy." He responded immediately, and she snickered, shaking her head. "Description?"
Nox launched into a well detailed description of his Earth-bound angel, and his sister eyed him funnily. "Jeez, dude." She murmured as she typed up a simplified version.
"Alright. I sent this out to my circle. If she goes to the university, then we should be able to get some info on her." Violetta claimed after pocketing her phone and beginning to walk towards the vehicle again.
"You're the best, Letta." Nox claimed, shaking off the urge to interrogate the cashiers she had interacted with while he was trying to get her to speak to him.
'Best not draw any more attention to myself.' He thought as he slid into the driver's seat.
"I know." Violetta smugly claimed, flipping her hair off her shoulder. Nox rolled his eyes, but said nothing as he started up the car and drove off.
Nox's leg bounced as his eyes skimmed over the paper clutched in his hand. Violetta's circle and found some information on his angel, and he was getting excited at the thought of being close to her.
"Your 'angel' made things a bit tough. She doesn't even have an Instagram or Facebook. What she did have was a Tumblr and Twitter account, but they don't give off much info. We did manage to get her address and classes, so that's good enough, I guess." Violetta huffed, sitting dramatically in a chair.
Nox grinned, and pulled his sister into a bear hug. "Thank you, Letta." She smiled, patting his shoulder. "You're welcome, big brother. Now, what are you going to do?"
Nox sighed, releasing his sister and taking a seat for himself. "Oh, I don't know. Maybe sign up for one of her classes and stalk her, or something." He shrugged nonchalantly while Violetta eyed him warily before chuckling.
"Wow. I did not know that finding your mate turns you into a creep."
"I didn't know either, but here we are." Nox said, gesturing at nothing in particular. They fell into a comfortable silence before Violetta released a shaky breath and spoke up. "I heard something." Nox looked at her expectantly.
"She used to be with this guy, Mateo Edwards. Criminal record. There were rumors that he would beat her-" Nox stiffened, letting out a frightening growl. "-let me finish. Anyways. He would beat her because she refused to put out, at any cost." A surge of pride and satisfaction coursed through him.
"Then that rumor turned into him beating her because she slept with his best friend: James Roccio." Nox raised an eyebrow upon hearing the name.
"James himself put an end to that rumor. I think it was common knowledge that since she wouldn't put out for Mateo, he went for the other girl in his group, Denise Henderson, and anyone else willing to spread eagle for him." Anger flashed across her features.
"At some party, a guy named Lance, and his girlfriend Tara, called him out, then they left. Mateo and Denise disappeared, and when they did, another male, namely Keon Davids, gave him a necklace and bracelet he had given Guadalupe. She slipped in and out and no one noticed. Mateo went on a rampage." Violetta paused, inhaling deeply before she continued.
"Rumor has it, he kidnapped Guadalupe about a week later, and she was found by Lance and Tara a couple days after. Both him and Denise were sent to jail for some time; but that time is up."
Nox sat stoically, absorbing the information. "Kind of explains why I smelt fear on her." He murmured darkly, clenching his fists. He wanted nothing more than to track that motherfucker down and rip him apart for hurting his angel.
Zev was pacing like a caged animal, ready to pounce. Nox would calm him down, but then again, he wanted to kill the bastard just as much. He didn't want that bastard to get anywhere near her.
"I told you all this because you need to be careful. Her flight instinct will dominate her fight instinct. So, tread lightly Nox. We need our Luna." With that, Violetta departed, leaving Nox to mull over his thoughts.
He sighed deeply, raking a hand through his hair. "You'll have your Luna. I won't give up until I have her."
With that, he stalked out of the room to make preparations. He would tread lightly, but he was still going to stalk his angel like the creep he suddenly was.
