Chapter BIT 91
Chapter 91
Rebecca jumped at the sound of the intercom ringing once more. Her heart pounded as she reached for the receiver, her hand trembling.
“Yes?” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
“Becky, it’s me again. Please, I need to see you. Just for a few minutes,” Harvey’s voice was pleading, full of desperation.
Rebecca hesitated, her mind racing. She knew she had to confront her past, but the fear of reopening old wounds held her back. She glanced at Lily, peacefully sleeping, and made a decision.
“I’ll come, but only for a few minutes. And I’m not bringing Lily with me,” she said firmly.
“Thank you. Room 333,” Harvey replied, relief evident in his tone.
Rebecca hung up and took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. She quietly slipped out of her room and was lucky because Sean was not there. She opened the door and quietly walked down the hallway, her footsteps echoing in the silent corridor. Reaching room 333, she paused, her hand hovering over the door. She gathered her courage and knocked softly.
The door opened almost immediately, and Harvey stood there, looking tired and worn. His eyes lit up with a mix of hope and sadness when he saw her.
“Becky, thank you for coming,” he said, stepping aside to let her in.
Rebecca entered the room, her eyes scanning the surroundings. The room was dimly lit, and the atmosphere was heavy with unspoken words.
“What do you want, Harvey?” she asked, crossing her arms defensively.
Harvey took a deep breath, running a hand through his hair. “I know I’ve hurt you, Becky. And I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. But I need you to understand why I did what I did.”
Rebecca’s eyes narrowed. “Why? Why did you abandon us? Why did you leave me and Lily without a word?”
Harvey looked pained. “I was trying to protect you. My family was threatening to ruin

your life. They were going to take Lily away from us. I had to make a deal with them to keep you safe”
Rebecca’s anger flared. “And you thought leaving us was the best way to protect us? You broke my heart, Harvey. You broke Lily’s heart.”
“I know,” Harvey said quietly, his eyes filled with regret. “And I hate myself for it every day. But I couldn’t see any other way out.
Rebecca shook her head, tears streaming down her face. “You should have trusted me. We could have faced it together.”
Harvey stepped closer, his voice pleading. “I wanted to, but I couldn’t risk your safety. I couldn’t let them hurt you or take Lily. Please, Becky, believe me. I never stopped loving you or our daughter.”
Rebecca wiped her tears angrily. “It’s too late, Harvey. You made your choice, and now I have to make mine. I’m with Sean now. He’s been there for me and Lily when you
weren’t.”
Harvey’s shoulders slumped in defeat. “I understand. And I’m glad you have someone like Sean. You deserve to be happy.”
Rebecca took a deep breath, trying to steady her emotions. “I need to go. I can’t do this
anymore.
Harvey nodded, his eyes filled with sorrow. “I understand. Just know that I’m here if you ever need me and one more thing.” He paused.

Rebecca looked at him with her chest heaving ups and downs.
“It’s not only about us, there’s something bigger. I need to protect my mother’s life….
Rebecca frowned, “Victoria?”
Harvey shook her head. “I lied to you when I told her she is my biological mother…”
Before he finished his words the baby monitor in Rebecca’s hand surprised them with Lily’s cry.
“You owe me the explanation Harvey, you owe us!”
Rebecca turned and walked out of the room, her heart heavy with unresolved
