Chapter 4

Rebecca felt her body hit the hard steps, and out of the corner of her eye, she could see Alicia screaming “HELP!” but everything went dark inst. .”

of heat between her thighs.

“Mrs. Specter? Can you hear me?”

th only a faint sensation

Rebecca slowly opened her eyes, the scent of lavender wafting into her nose. She opened her eyes to find herself in a room that looked unfamiliar. “Where am I?” she whispered, feeling strange as she couldn’t feel anything in her body.

“You’re in Elizabeth Hospital, Ma’am. I’m Dr. Theo…”

Dr. Theo’s next words were just a murmur as Rebecca’s mind drifted back to that morning’s events.

Alicia, the drizzling rain, the slippery stone steps, the lake, and…”

“My baby? Is my baby okay?” Rebecca cried out as if her spirit had fully returned to her body. Before Dr. Theo could answer, the door to the room opened.

Rebecca looked up, “Harvey! Our baby! Is our baby okay?” she struggled to rise from the bed, but her head throbbed in pain. She touched her head and found a bandage covering her forehead.

Harvey frowned, confused.

Dr. Theo cleared his throat, drawing Rebecca and Harvey’s attention. “Mrs. Specter, we don’t understand what you’re talking about, but we assure you that you are not pregnant,” he said, blinking twice, making Rebecca glare at him suspiciously.

“IMPOSSIBLE! You must be in cahoots with that snake woman, right?” she screamed hysterically.

“Rebecca, he’s just a doctor. Control yourself, or the stitches on your head and legs could reopen,” Harvey said as he walked closer and stood by her bed.

I’ll give you two some time alone,” Dr. Theo said as he stepped out. Before reaching the door, he glanced back at Rebecca, and his strange gaze made Rebecca sure he was hiding something.

“Harvey! Alicia pushed me! She tried to kill me and our baby! You have to believe me!”

Rebecca cried, clutching Harvey’s arm tight. arvey didn’t move, he didn’t try to pull her hand away nor did he try to comfort her. “Listen, I’m grateful you’re okay. But you know you shouldn’t jump from the stairs just to make me hate Alicia…”

Rebecca’s grip loosened, and she stared at Harvey in shock. “What did you say?” she whispered in disbelief. “Did you just say I jumped from that stone stairs just to make you hate Alicia?”

Harvey sighed deeply, “Becky, I wouldn’t believe Alicia’s words without enough evidence, but a witness is supporting her statement. I won’t be angry at you, but please stop hurting yourself,” he said, looking deeply into Rebecca’s eyes.

Rebecca felt her entire body Q

tremble violently, “How could you? She pushed me,

Harvey! She was scared when I said I was pregnant with your child!” she cried hysterically, clutching her stomach, hoping her pregnancy was still intact despite what Dr. Theo had said.

Harvey remained still, looking at her with pity as if she were crazy. “Lucy saw it happen, she testified that you threw yourself down the stairs after threatening to frame Alicia as the culprit. If it weren’t for Lucy, I might not believe it. Isn’t she the trusted maid of yours?”

Rebecca felt slapped in the face instantly, “Lucy? That’s impossible…” she shook her head in disbelief. Not long after, the door opened, and several people entered. Rebecca looked up and saw Alicia and Lucy standing not far from her.

“Lucy? Please tell the truth! Did you really see me throw myself down the stairs?” Rebecca asked with a trembling voice. Lucy just looked down at the floor, not daring to meet her eyes.

“LUCY? LOOK ME IN THE EYE AND TELL US THE TRUTH!” Rebecca screamed, not thinking of herself but of the baby in her womb, which might or might not still be there.

“Rebecca, you’re scaring her,” Alicia interjected with a soft, feigned concerned voice. Harvey sighed deeply, he turned to Lucy. “Lucy, can you repeat your testimony? Did you see Alicia push Rebecca?” he asked, rubbing his forehead.

Lucy shook her head, looking at Harvey while avoiding Rebecca’s gaze. Next to Lucy, Alicia tried hard not to smirk.

“So what did you see?” Harvey asked, raisin, in evebre

Lucy swallowed hard, “I saw Mrs. Specter throw herself down, Sir,” she replied with a trembling voice, completely avoiding Rebecca’s disappointed gaze.

Harvey nodded, “You may go, Lucy, thank you.” “Rebecca…”

“Don’t! This is unfair!” Rebecca yanked the IV needle from her hand and walked towards the door, carrying her broken body and soul.

“Becky!” Harvey ran after her, but Alicia suddenly fainted, out of the blue, diverting his

attention.

“Alicia? Hey, can you hear me?” Harvey gently shook Alicia’s body. Rebecca watched the scene, shaking her head, tears streaming down her face. She knew that her marriage

was over.

Rebecca walked unsteadily down the corridor, ignoring the whispers around her. Suddenly, from the opposite direction, she saw someone she recognized walking casually with a flower basket in his hand. That person stopped when he saw her, his eyes. widening in shock.

“Becky? What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be in the inpatient room? I was just about to visit you, are you okay?”

“Nic? Can you stop asking and take me away from here,” Rebecca pleaded, her head suddenly throbbing with pain as if the painkiller’s effect had completely worn off. “What? Where to?”

Rebecca was about to say something but everything went dark again, she fell onto Nicholas‘ body, unconcious.

A few hours later,

“Becky? It’s me, Nicholas, can you hear my voice?”

Rebecca opened her eyes, “Nic? Where am I?” she looked around her in panic.

“You’re in my apartment, don’t you remember? You asked me to take you away from the hospital, so I called a doctor to treat you here because you were in pretty bad shape. So, what happened exactly?” Nicholas asked, curious.

Rebecca looked around the room and then fixed her eyes on the ceiling as if something

was staring back at her. She didn’t answer Nicholas‘ question and just cried silently, making him look at her with concern.

“Becky? Say something, you scared the hell outta me. Did Harvey do this to you?” Nicholas asked, carefully touching her hand.

Hearing Harvey’s name mentioned, Rebecca’s chest felt even more painful. She had never felt so angry in her life that she wanted to punch Alicia and Harvey’s faces.

“Nic…” She called, her chest rising and falling with emotion.

“Yes? Do you need something?” Nicholas asked, feeling relieved that Rebecca finally spoke.

“Can you find me a lawyer?” she asked, still staring at the ceiling.

“Of course, you’re talking to one. You might not know, but I’m a famous lawyer now,” Nicholas said, half–joking.

“I want to file for divorce from Harvey Specter, right now.”

Her eyes flashed with determination. “I will make Alicia pay for what she has done to

me…”
