Chapter AIMEe
The commander smirked, as he thought the order to kill Subject Beta 42 was a privilege, for guarding the school well.
"Well, I may not have those weapons, but I have a smart missile carrying enough acid to, if not kill, at least maim you enough for us to transport you. And don't forget, your classmates here would just be collateral if you don't surrender."
As the subject seemed to be mulling it over, he sent a covert signal to his stealth team. They had been waiting on the roof since the beginning. With that signal, they prepared themselves to fire on anyone uncooperative.
Beta 42, (his 'Josh' persona forgotten temporarily) was quizzing his AI and trying to find an acceptable escape plan. None presented themselves that did not involve the deaths of everyone but himself, and had an acceptable success factor. At that moment, however, trawling through the commanders' suits' computer, he found an older program, with a distinctive line of explanation: "To be companion for beta series models. Do not replace until they are older. Remember Alpha series."The desperation he had felt not 20 seconds ago vanished. The Artificial Intelligence for Mental Excellence was there. He could have AIMEe back...
Why not have 2 AI instead of 1? Twice the thinking power.
Also, AIMEe was an old friend. he had wished for her companionship frequently over the last few years.
The commander watched with satisfaction as the Subject appeared to have stalled. So, now it was a case of causing enough damage to allow safe transport, but not enough to keep him out of action for longer than a week.
Suddenly, his HUD lit up with alarms, as a recording was downloaded to another computer without authorization. However, when the commander checked the credentials of the download, it was the Major. What was he doing downloading files now?
Another account popped up, and started to root through his files. He couldn't remember anyone called Bettie Z, and they had no right to go through his files. Especially old files from the - The commander froze as he realized when that file was originally uploaded to the old military network he had copied to his suit. The same day the Sigma Potens subjects had the battle AI installed.
He let out a laugh and shook his head. "She can't help you. Not when I have THIS!" He smiled, whipping out what appeared to be an oversized remote control, like one of the ones from the early 2000s.
The Major turned his monitoring equipment off and told the soldiers backing the commander to retreat.
"That idiot is about to start an event that at the very least compromises our national security and could end up being as bad as extinction level. " Sighed the Major, preparing himself for the war the commander was about to start.
"Extinction level, sir?"
"That, that... monstrosity that the commander is facing almost decimated a base full of the top soldiers this military has, when he was barely a teenager. And with a legion of him? Life had better hope that that ... thing doesn't fancy wiping it out. Anyway, lets prepare the top brass from around the world. "
"Roger that, Sir!"
As the soldiers turned off their radio, The major sent the livestream to the General, and the tribunal.
This should show them. He wasn't a human you could reason with. No human could do those things.
"Wow. I'm shaking.", came the sarcastic reply, as Biomorph loaded AIMEe up, and merged her with his existing battle AI. "What are you going to do? Mute me? Change the channel?"
The Commander gritted his teeth and started tapping the number pad. The TTS on the remote identified the phrase he had written, and asked, in a silky voice, "Link to all Fighter clones?"
"Confirmed. Let's see how you deal with being a hive mind again. You had fun last time, right?"
The Major had done it. The top minds, and the top brass, of every country, all moving inside a bunker that could survive nuclear warfare unscathed. They were completely self-sufficient, with enough resources to last them thousands of years. They were safe.
However, he had been confined to that bunker for the rest of his career. He would be moving his family here after his daughter was out of school. However, since this was the second time this had happened, and the subject had caused way more damage the last time he had tried to escape, He wasn't given the same punishment as the last person who had been in command of project Sigma Potens.
However, he had to admit, it could be worse anyway. He had saved the other Beta series, but Beta 42's protectiveness had almost sent him insane after he heard the cover story the major made up
"I wish I had never agreed to use his genome for the beta tests." sighed the Major, as he lamented his freedom. "Well, at least we can't be hurt in here."
At that moment, a small red box flashed onto his screen. Tapping it, he saw that the Beta series clones of subject 42 had been linked up and were heading out.
That was it. The war for humanity had begun.
The only reaction from the subject was what appeared to be a small dizzy spell, but otherwise he was all right. How was that possible? Controlling 3,999 clones couldn't be that easy, could it?
The Commander was even more disturbed when the subject started laughing. And that laughing wasn't the laughing that had been produced by the subject before. The sound emanating from him sounded like a tyrant drunk on power. This wasn't good.
The last time he had laughed anything like this, there had been a high number of casualties...
Biomorph had the biggest headrush he had ever had, but that was followed by power. Every power, and all the animal DNA, the Alpha version had copied and saved, or he had copied and saved, was now his. He was connected to the world. Or, the world of his Fighting clones.
"Ok, you've made your point. Now, I suggest you run back to the hole you crawled out of, and seal it tight."
The commander and his remaining troops ran off, checking behind them to make sure they weren't followed.
"Josh?"
Beta 42 withdrew his armour, and turned to his classmates. He had honestly forgotten that they were there.
"Hey, Josh? Your arm looks ... well, different, you know?"
He looked down, to see his left forearm was now a screen, with two small speakers underneath it.
"Oh, this? This is so that my AI can talk to you." Josh (Now he had remembered that was his fake name) explained. "I'm exhausted after that, so I'll allow AIMEe to answer your questions."
After saying that, he went a sort of grayish colour, and tipped over backwards.
"Josh? Hey Josh, You, ok?" queried the teacher.
"He is quite fine, he just collapsed due to the fact he was trying to co-ordinate too many people at once."
This new voice had come from the speakers on Josh's arm. As the class turned to look, a face appeared on the screen. It looked quite young, but you almost felt like you could trust that face immediately after seeing it.
"Are you AIMEe? Is Josh really ok? " Asked Ayla, leaning over to feel Josh's heartbeat.
"Yes, He is quite alright. His heartrate and brain activity are normal for him. Now, would you like me to explain anything?"
