Chapter Billionaire’s 13

Chapter 13

I placed my phone un

on the table, and Steven glanced at me. “Who are you texting?” he asked, reaching for the phone. I beat him to it.

“It’s none of your business who I’m texting.” I murmured and rose from the swivel chair. I picked up the document Achilles had left earlier.

“Why don’t you want me to see it! Who is it?” Steven raised an eyebrow and grinned like a mischievous horse.

Are you done with the task I assigned you?” I changed the subject. It wasn’t important for him to know about Lilian

Achilles didn’t do his job and threatened the delivery guy, but I told him not to mention my involvement. Why did she leave without eating! Ella called me about Lilian leaving without even having a meal. It was Ella’s idea to have food delivered to her. I didn’t want her to think anything else about my actions. She should realize she needs to take care of herself.

“You’re lost in thought, Vinny. What’s going on?” Steven inquired while placing the contract I had asked him to make. “Any bad news from the message you received? Em almost done, and I want to see Lili‘ His smile broadened.

I took the printed contract he had finished and examined it I don’t have any issues. Could you review this again? There’s a mistake here. Why is it 603d 70%,” I handed it to him, which furrowed his brows.

“Are you messing with me, Vinny? You said you wanted 60%” Steven complained, taking the paper.

“On page 2.1 didn’t like the terms,” I added.

He sighed wearily, “Are you annoying me? You have told me this

“I changed my mind, I reasoned. “You weren’t paying attention. I noticed you’ve been glued to your phone and rushing through your work all morning. Is it the end of the world!”

time.

There wasn’t really anything wrong: 1 just wanted him to take his tin

“Fine, I’ll change it. Do you have any more changes?” he reluctantly agreed.

I glanced at my watch. It was five. I had another meeting later. “No more changes. Do you want some coffee?” I asked.

“No, I need to finish this. Are you leaving? Don’t you have a meeting later?” He stopped typing and turned to me as I headed towards the door.

“I want to grab some coffee. Yes, from eight to ten with the department managers,” I replied, pausing at the door. “Not interested?” He shook his head. “Where’s your secretary?”

“I’ve assigned her a task. Alright I closed the door and walked down the hallway. There was no one around at that hour since they were all in their working spaces.

I took the CEO elevator down to the parking basement. My phone chimed with a message from Lilian. I sighed.

I placed my phone back into my pocket as the elevator came to a stop. Retrieving the key from one o

one of my pockets, then I unlocked my Ferrari. Upon arriving at the coffee shop, I decided to stay a while, sipping my coffee outside enjoying myself. Promptly my phone chimed again.

I grabbed it in my pants and read her message.

“Don’t tease me like that. I’ve already eaten half of it. It didn’t come from Abi or anyone I know. It might be poisoned”

I couldn’t help but smile at her shallow thoughts. I returned my phone to from the city, and here, I could enjoy some privacy with few customers around.

to my pocket, quietly observing the surroundings. It was a distance away

Then the memory of her embracing me out of a sudden while she slept, and I hadn’t expected her to touch my body like that. I furrowed my brow and shook off that thought. What she did felt unusual, and I couldn’t quite explain it

Maybe she was dreaming about me naked.. I chuckled at the idea, and my face suddenly grew warm.

I couldn’t forgive her for what she did; it

did; it was harassment.

I took a deep breath, once again realizing that I needed to talk to her about my father’s wishes. I finished off the last sip of my coffee and returned Insidde. Perhaps it was tinte to discuss that matter with her.

Fifteen minutes after. I parked my car on the parking lot near the hospital and made my way to the hospital on foot. I tried calling her, but there was no answer. So, I sent her a text message, “We need to talk now. I’m on my way”

However, she didn’t respond until I entered the hospital. The guard greeted me, and as well some of nurses and doctors who recognized me. When I reached her mother’s room, she wasn’t there. 1 frowned, scanning the hallway.

I wait her here. And I sat on the chair outside the room.

Ten minutes later, she arrived with a doctor who seemed to be saying something to her. She was smiling enthusiastically at the doctor, a sight I didn’t particularly like. “She’s so obvious,” 1 muttered to myself.

The doctor went into another room, and she said her goodbyes. When she looked in my direction, she joyfully approached. “Davin! My mom up,” she shared with me, her eyes slightly teary

I felt a sense of happiness hearing it. I kept a serious expression a

and simply nodded, handing her the coffee cup.

She took it and inhaled deeply. “Mocha. How do you know! Ahh, Abi must have told you.”

She sat down beside me. “Why are you here, anyway? To hand this over?”

“We have something important to discuss.” I replied,

She sipped the coffee with a smile, and how effortlessly she smiled.

“So she asked.

I averted my gaze from her, realizing I had been staring at her for a while.

It’s about surrogacy,” I said, making her look at me, her eyes filled with a hope I couldn’t quite comprehend.

“Did you change your mind, and we won’t proceed with it anymore?”

I shook my head, and the spark faded from her eyes. “What?

“My father didn’t approve of the CISI..I trailed off, studying her puzzled expression,

Your father?”

So, I explained to her the reason why I wanted to have a child and my father’s wishes,

Do you understand now?” I asked.

Her jaw dropped as she stammered, “I don’t know what to say. It’s surprising

“Yes, but the contract doesn’t specify how your pregnancy should be handled, so whatever my decision, that’s final,” I seriously said. She took a sip of her coffee

“1” I began, but she raised a hand to stop me. I understand you,” she said. “But if we do that just once? Her words were barely audible.

1 hesitated before responding. It depends, but to be sure, the doctor will examine you to know you despite my lack of knowledge on the matter.

Having sex without protection could lead to pregnancy? I needed to educate myself on this topic, especially on how this work

I stood up from my seat and looked at her. “You should see my doctor this week when you’re available. She’ll provide a report for me once the test done, and Ill review it I have to go now,”

She opened her mouth, and I thought she had something to say, but she closed it and simply nodded.

As I turned to walk away, the called out to me. I stopped and faced her. She approached me, and unexpectedly, she gently touched the comer of my lips with her hand

My breath caught, and my heart raced. What was she doing!
