Chapter 12 You Can Be Yourself

Layla didn’t know what Amy was thinking. She was making serious rounds at the moment.

She came to Ward 307, Bed No. 5. She frowned as she saw the man on the bed, wrapped so tightly in the quilt that only his hands were exposed, but his whole body reeked of alcohol.

Why is there such a strong smell of alcohol? Have you been drinking?Layla picked up the information card at the bedside.

[Name: Henry Ward]

[Gender: Male]

[Age: 21

There was a sneer from the next bed. “He couldn’t even articulate words clearly, and he still drank. He’d better go home and drink milk.”

Henry suddenly looked at the next bed. “Do you dare to say it again?”

“You damn brat, I just think your singing is rubbish and shit. Even my dog’s barking on stage is better than your singing. What? If you are not convinced, beat me!”

Henry’s eyes were red, and his fingers were rattling. The next moment, he was about to get out of bed with his seriously injured body.

Layla hurriedly stopped him. “Calm down. Stop arguing. Please keep quiet in the ward!”

The man on the next bed, in his thirties, with a beard, had a fierce look. He was also seriously injured, with thick gauze wrapped around his head and plaster on his leg. Seeing that Henry was about to rush over, fearless, he even showed

provocative eyes.

“Go away!” Henry was angry at this moment. He threw Layla away with all his strength. Layla didn’t dare to pull him since he was injured, so Layla was thrown out by him.

Layla staggered back two steps and bumped her waist against the corner of the cabinet beside her. An indescribable tingling sensation swept over her, and the log of the ward fell to the ground in her hands.

Hearing her cry of pain, Henry turned his head subconsciously and saw her clutching her waist with one hand and supporting the wall with the other, her face full of pain.

At the sight of this, Henry was no longer angry but was somewhat guilty. He walked carefully to Layla and asked, “Are you okay?”

Layla took two deep breaths. When the pain subsided a little, she raised her head and squeezed out a pale smile. “I am fine, but can you take good care of yourselves and stop quarreling?”

A trace of anger reappeared on Henry’s face. He turned his head to look at the man in the next bed and said angrily, “He scolded me first!”

Do you care about othersopinions?Layla asked.

Henry was slightly taken aback. What do you mean?”

I mean, you can be yourself instead of being what others think of you. If you care too much about others‘ opinions, you will never be able to be yourself.”

Enlightened, Henry completely froze in place.

Layla knew that he had heard and stooped to pick up the fallen log. Her voice was still very soft. “Don’t let your emotions be easily dominated by others.”

Henry stared straight at Layla. No one had ever told him about this, and neither had his parents. They would not let him be himself, and they would only scold him for being idle.

“Bed No. 5, what’s your name?” Layla picked up the log, assuming a routine professional demeanor.

Henry came back to his senses and said in a daze, “Henry

Ward.”

How old are you?”

Twentyone. No, I’m immediately twenty–two. When he had finished, he propped his forehead awkwardly, not knowing what on earth he was saying.

The next moment, Henry heard Layla’s gentle laughter. When he looked up, she had already walked to the next bed.

“Bed No. 6, what’s your name?”

Although the bearded man looked fierce, he was a little shy to see such a gentle doctor. He stuttered, “Paul.”
