Chapter 638
Ian was overjoyed. He could not control himself at all. His heart felt like it was about to leap out,
Ian was sitting at the quiet dining table, which was in a mess. However, he appeared as though he was in a sea of flowers. The
entire world was clear and bright, and everything in front of him became charming and cute.
He was really happy!
However, his phone rang at this moment.
Ian’s pupils constricted almost imperceptibly. He instinctively stood up and walked to the balcony before answering the call. His
tone was still indifferent, but it was unlike the distant and proud tone in the past. Instead, it carried a sense of respect and a hint
of deep–seated intimacy.
“Grandpa,” he greeted.
Joshua did not beat around the bush. He went straight to the point and asked, “You didn’t return to the Walter family’s home,
huh?”
“There is something I have to attend to here,” Ian explained in a low voice.
“For a woman?” Joshua said as he lifted his eyebrows.
Ian’s eyes turned cold. He instinctively frowned. An overwhelming sense of hostility emanated from him. “Did someone complain
to you?” he said. “Was it Zavier?”
Ian was sensitive by nature, and he was very distrustful. He despised betrayal from those around him the most.
Only he could make decisions about his own affairs. Even his respected grandfather was not allowed to meddle in his affairs.
Joshua was a shrewd person. How could he not understand Ian? He knew that Ian was now on guard, so he did not pursue the
topic further. Instead, he changed the subject, saying. “Ian, do you know why I didn’t stop your mother back then?
“Your biological father is clearly not a good match, and he didn’t treat your mother well. In order to be with your biological father,
your mother pursued him all over the world, missing out on romantic opportunities with many other prospective men. Missing out
on these opportunities is one thing, but in the end, she even lost her life.

He flipped through page by page, and when he saw the two words “Olivia Taylor“, his gaze became fixed for a moment.

He had once taught her for a period of time. Olivia was the most intelligent, outstanding, and talented person he had ever met.
He had even considered bringing her back to the Phil family’s home and letting her be hist granddaughter–in–law.
In the end, he gave up on the idea because he felt that his grandson was not worthy of her.
He thought, ‘Unexpectedly, Kelly has a close relationship with her. In that case, I can’t use a forceful approach.’
Joshua pondered for a moment. Soon, he came up with an idea. He said slowly, “Ian, since you like her, keep her by your side
then.”

keep it locked up, or did I let it roam freely?”
“Keep it locked up?” Ian said.
Joshua smiled and said, “I neither locked it up nor let it roam freely. Instead, I tamed it. Now, it will obediently lie on my lap, act
affectionately, and wait for me to come home. Women are like cats. You have to tame them and make them unable to be without
you.”
‘Tame?‘ Ian thought. For some reason, Ian instinctively disliked this word.
Joshua left it at that and did not continue further.
He knew that Ian was different from his mother, Julia. Julia grew up at the Phil family’s home in a healthy and warm environment.
Her mental and emotional well–being was in good condition.
In the end, she had taken that step. It was purely because of her genuine love for Kendrick and her own stubbornness due to her
personality.
However, lan was different. Ian did not understand love or feelings. He was like a small animal, relying entirely on instinct and
intuition.
As long as he was given a direction, he would act on it and not let himself fall into it.

Before hanging up the call, Joshua said one last thing, “Ian, if you want to tame her, you have to get tough with her,” he said.
“Get tough with her now so that you can be at ease in the future.”
Joshua believed that Ian would not let him down and was confident that he would do a great job.
Ian did not say anything. He only looked at the distant sunset on the horizon. After a while, he said in a bewildered manner, “But
Grandpa, what if I can’t get tough with her?”
Joshua was going through the information, and when he heard that statement, his wrist suddenly trembled, almost causing him
to tear the document apart.
He thought, ‘Ian has actually reached this stage!‘
Joshua was incredulous. He thought, ‘Could it be that Ian is going to follow in Julia’s footsteps as well?‘
If it were any other grandsons or granddaughters, just having a romance would not be a big deal. Joshua would not interfere too
much. However, Ian was different. Like his mother, he was stubborn to the core,
Joshua thought, ‘If the people they love also love them, it’s all well and good. They will have a life of peace and happiness. But if
the ones they hold dear don’t love them in return, that’s a disaster!‘
Joshua covered his chest and took a while to calm down. He enunciated each word as he said, “Ian, you must never lose your
heart. Listen to me. You must hold onto your heart and tame the other party first, okay?”
“Grandpa?” Ian said as he frowned. “I don’t like that word.”
“Alright, I won’t talk about taming then,” Joshua continued. “You have to hold onto your heart. Let the other party like you first and
give up everything for you.”
“And then?” Ian asked. “After that, can I like her?”
Joshua closed his eyes. A sense of helplessness was written all over his face. “That’s right,” he said. “Only then can you hand

Ian nodded. He understood now.
