Betrayed By My Beta Mate

Calliope POV

It’s been two weeks since Grant and Octavius were dealt with. It’s still hard to believe that we are finally at peace. I know that there may be future threats, but I want to enjoy what we have right now. The pack is strong and I’m confident that the pack can handle anything. I want to focus on our future with our pups. I lay my hand on my still flat stomach. “I can’t wait to meet you little one. You are going to be so loved by everyone.” I’m so excited to have another pup. Faith will always be my first pup and I will make sure she knows that she was lucky enough to have two mothers that love her. I hear her on the monitor and it makes me smile. She is babbling and I hear her say mama. It is still the best thing I have ever heard when she says it. I hear the shower shut off and I wait for Eli to come out so we can go get her together. We have to leave after breakfast to head to the Red Moon Pack. I sit there and listen to my daughter and my thoughts go to the day we took mom and the kids back to Crescent Moon. She took Leo up to the office as soon as we arrived. After twenty minutes, they both came down smiling like they had won the lottery. I knew they were happy to see each other after mom was taken, but I was shocked when my mother told us she was expecting.

I’m so excited that my mom and Leo are having a pup. She deserves all the happiness that her true mate has brought into her life. I know that Mateo made her feel unworthy, which couldn’t have been farther from the truth. Tony and Oliver already love Anna and Felix. I know she was worried that they would only want Felix because she is almost eighteen, but she was very wrong. I cried when Oliver pulled her into a hug and told her that she was their daughter. Tony and Oliver are going to start her warrior training and have already told her that in the future they will train her to become the next Beta of the pack when they are ready to retire. Benson even found his mate when Leo’s daughter Stephanie came to visit. I’m happy that everyone has found their fated mates. The pack is really different now that my mother is Alpha. Everyone seems so happy and the women are no longer treated like second-class pack members. We will be having dinners with them weekly and I love that our pups will grow up together.

Mom and Leo will all be joining us today at the Red Moon Pack for the Alpha Ceremony. The door to the bathroom opens and my handsome mate comes out with the towel wrapped low around his waist. I can’t help but stare at his chest and abs fully on display. I meet his eyes and he smirks at me. “Are you done checking me out love”, Eli says with a chuckle. “Nope and I never will be”, I say as I slide out of bed. I press a quick k**s on his lips before I head into the bathroom. I quickly get dressed and do my hair in a ponytail. I’m wearing a purple blouse and black dress pants. I apply natural make-up. “Looking fabulous”, Aurora says, and I chuckle. I head out of the bathroom and Eli is wearing a white dress shirt with black slacks. I smile when I see that his tie matches my blouse. He stands and gives me a deep k**s before we head to the nursery. I will never tire of the feelings this man makes me feel. Faith is standing and she smiles when she sees us. “Dada” she says, and Eli stops dead. “Did you hear that she called me dada”, he says, and I can feel his joy through our bond. He scoops her up “yes, dada Faith.”

Once she is dressed in her purple dress, we head to breakfast. Mason and Micah will be staying in the pack today while everyone heads to the ceremony. I’m happy to see Rose, Oscar, Magnum, and Larisa will be joining us today. I hand Faith to Amelia and we take our seat at the table. “Cayden, how is your mom feeling?” I haven’t had much morning sickness but my mom has it every day. “She is alright. Hudson’s hovering is driving her a little crazy”, Cayden says, and we all laugh. “Wait till Penny is having a pup. You will act just like us”, Eli says. I see a flash of something on Penny’s face but it’s gone so quickly I don’t know if I imagined it. We finish eating and we all head out of the pack house to the SUV’s. We drive about an hour to reach the Red Moon pack. I have never visited this pack but it reminds me of Crescent Moon. The pack house is similar and the cottages are laid out the same way. We park and Eli comes around to open my door. He gets Faith out of her car seat and I take her from him. He takes my free hand and we follow a path that leads to a beautiful garden. “My mother is responsible for this garden”, Cayden says, and I smile. We take our seats and wait for the ceremony to begin.

Cayden POV

As we approach the garden, I can’t help but smile. Mom is so proud of the work she put into it and I’m glad she will get to tend to it again. Everyone starts to take their seats when I notice Rose and Oscar are looking at me. Rose and I never got to have that talk with everything that happened. We have a few minutes before the ceremony. I lead Penny over to them and we follow the path that leads to benches. We all take a seat and I smile at Rose. “Rose, I know you wanted to talk to me and we haven’t had a moment, so I thought we could talk now before the ceremony starts.” She looks at Oscar and he smiles. “I was worried to tell you this but now I realize that was truly silly of me. I have no control of the wolf the goddess blesses me with and I wouldn’t change my wolf for anything.” Now I’m truly confused. Why would she think I would be upset about her wolf? I can feel Rigg’s happiness through our bond. “Cayden, Clara is my wolf.” Did she just say that Clara is her wolf? I feel Penny squeeze my hand. I sit there processing the fact that my sister was given another chance by the goddess. She was given a chance as Rose’s wolf. I wish things could have been different, but my father is right. She is getting her second chance and she is happy. I stand and Rose does the same. I pull her into a hug. “I’m glad that Clara got an amazing human like you, Rose. I’m glad you both have your mate and you will have a future together. I’m happy she will get to see the woman Faith will become.”

We head back toward the ceremony and I feel lighter. Hearing what my father said and now knowing that Clara is getting a second chance at happiness lessens the pain of losing her. I know that the goddess always has a plan. We just don’t always understand it, but I trust her despite everything that happened. I have suffered in my life but the joy and happiness I have now make it all worth it. I have my mother and a bonus father. I know despite not being able to speak with him, that my father will watch over us. I have a beautiful mate and soon we will have a beautiful pup. She almost slipped at breakfast but we wanted to announce it to my mother and Hudson first. We already told her parents this morning. I can’t wait to tell everyone else later today. I have huge family that wasn’t made by b***d alone. All of these people that are gathered here today are my family. We are all living proof that despite being broken because of tragedy, the pieces can be put back together. I look at Eli with his arm wrapped around Cali while she holds Faith. He may have been a broken Alpha, but love has made him whole again.
