Chapter 9
Eleanor Amato - POV
After I signed the papers, I pushed them toward Xavier again and got up from my chair. “Where should I stay?” I asked him. Well, I know he would never share his room with me, and I don't plan to sleep with him either.
“There is a guest bedroom two doors from here. You can use that,” he said without even looking up from the documents he was reading. I stared at him for a couple of more minutes before I turned around and walked out of there. I located the guest bedroom, opened the door, and entered.
After locking the door behind me, I turned around to take a look at the place where I would be staying for the next six months. This room was definitely bigger than the one I had back at my father’s house, but there was one thing in common. The unwelcome feeling soon seeped within me.
The room had all the basic amenities, a huge queen-sized bed, a walk-in closet, an attached bathroom, and a balcony that overlooked the forest. I walked over to the bed, took a seat, and slowly lifted the mental barrier that I had with my wolf. “What the fuck did you do, Ellie?” Erica yelled at me, but I didn't know what to say.
Tears started forming, and this time, I let them flow down my cheeks while I felt my throat burning, but I chose to silently cry away my pain. “What can I do, Erica? He made it very clear that he doesn't want us.” I choked out while I moved higher up the bed and curled into a fetal position.
Erica remained quiet for a long time, and this made me think that she abandoned me when I heard her voice again. “What is going to happen now?” her voice sounded so broken, and I knew that she must be aching just like me.
Why does this have to always happen to me? First, my mother was taken away from me, the one person who truly loved me, and just when I thought that I might find that same amount of love in my mate, he had to go and reject me.
“I…I don't know. I guess we will just play along and then leave once the six months is up.” I said.
“But where will we go, Eleanor?” Erica asked me. I know that I can definitely never return back to my father’s pack, but the second option that I have is to become a rogue.
A humorless laugh came out of me when I thought about my fate. I had to live the life of a rogue from the moment I was born because my father rejected my mother, and now, even after I found my mate, I was still destined to face the same fate.
I closed my eyes and slowly drifted into a dreamless sleep.
The sound of the birds singing woke me up, and I looked outside the French doors to see that a few birds were sitting on the railing. I got up from the bed, stretched myself, and got up from the bed and walked into the bathroom. After removing the dress I was wearing, I walked towards the sink and splashed some cold water to wake myself up.
I looked up at the mirror, and it made me cringe looking at my appearance. My dark brown hair was like a bird's nest, my makeup was all smudged, and my eyes looked blood red. Simply said, I looked horrible.
I quickly washed away the remnants of the makeup and proceeded to remove my bra and underwear, and made my way to the shower. After taking a nice relaxing shower, I wrapped a white towel around me and walked out of the room. “What am I going to wear now?” I sighed and looked at the wall.
“We can ask our mate to get something for us,” Erica suggested. “I mean, it is because of him we have nothing in here.”
“You are right, but after last night, I seriously don't want to see him right now,” I told her when my eyes landed on a telephone that was placed next to the bed. I walked towards that and saw a card placed next to it with all the numbers. I scanned all the numbers when my eyes landed on Gamma Dante’s office phone number.
The only person who was nice to me was Marquez. I guess it would be better if I could just call him.
Without thinking twice, I picked up the phone and dialed his number. The phone rang for a long time when he finally picked it up. “Gamma Dante speaking.” he sounded so professional and busy, which made me rethink my decision.
“Um, Marquez, it's Eleanor.”
“Eleanor, what can I do for you?” his voice sounded relaxed now, which made my shoulders relax as well.
“I know this must be bizarre. But I don't have any clothes to wear. Could you send someone with any spare clothes you can find in the pack house?” I asked him. My cheeks were bright red and so hot, but I closed my eyes and hoped that he wouldn't be offended by my request.
“Of course, give me ten minutes, I will arrange something.”
“Thank you so much,” I mumbled before I kept the phone. I made my way to the bed, took a seat, took my phone out of my purse, and began scrolling through my social media.
Knock knock.
I placed my phone next to me and went and opened the door. My mouth opened in shock to see who it was. “Oh my! I am so sorry.” Marquez immediately looked away out of respect while I closed the door to make sure that only my head was visible. “Here’s the dress, I will wait for you in the kitchen,” Marquez said and extended a bag for me to take.
“Thank you,” I said and took it from him before I closed and locked the door behind me.
