Chapter 74
Eleanor Amato - POV
“Are you sure you don't want that dress?” I asked Rebecca as she longingly stared at a bottle green dress with a pout on her lips.
“No…I do have a lot of dresses...” she trailed with a dejected tone, and I know that she has two minds right now.
“A woman can never have enough clothes. So just buy it.” I reassured her while I saw the wheels turning in her mind. The dress was really pretty and it did compliment her curves very well too.
“Fine, I will buy it.” she finally said and I let out a relived sigh. We had been in this shop for the past two hours and Rebecca had been in a confused state of mind for the past half an hour. Don't get me wrong, I do love to shop and I would spend hours shopping, but this pregnancy is draining a lot of energy.
Now all I wanted to do was eat and sleep and standing for nearly two hours had made my feet start to ache and my mind kept imagining a warm shower and a cozy bed that would be heavy right now.
“So shall we go?” I asked her and she nodded her head, so I linked my hand against hers, and when I was about to pull her away, I saw her eyes drift to another part of the shop.
“Shall we go and check out the shoes again?” she asked me.
“No way, I am exhausted, Becca. Let's go and come back here some other time.” I insisted as I dragged her to the checkout counter. After we were done paying for goods, we walked out of the store. It was three pm and the weather was so warm outside, and I felt the sweat beads slide down my back as we walked out of the air-conditioned store.
“Shall we have something to eat before we leave?” Rebecca asked me, but I shook my head.
“Let’s have a takeout, I don't think I can stay in this hot weather anymore,” I told her, and she nodded her head. Rebecca looked around the street when she spotted a pastry shop. After buying some pastries and a tall glass of iced mocha for the both of us, we made our way to the car.
“Let me keep those in the boot,” Rebecca said, so I thanked her and handed over my bags while I got inside the car. After she had closed the boot, she came and took a seat in the driver's seat and then started the car.
The streets were starting to get crowded with both people and vehicles, and we were stuck in traffic for nearly half an hour. “We should have left the town an hour ago.” I asserted.
“Yeah, but we did have fun right?” Rebecca asked me, and I nodded my head.
Well, that is true.
We were passing by a lot of clothing stores when I spotted a flower shop. “Can you stay here while I quickly buy myself some flowers?” I asked Rebecca as I looked at the traffic ahead, which would not move for another ten minutes.
“Okay,” she said, so I quickly got down and made my way to the flower shop. As I walked in, I was bombarded with the scent of all kinds of flowers while my eyes were looking at flowers of vibrant colors that confused me.
“Hello, ma'am. What would you like to buy?” I turned around, and I spotted an old lady standing behind me with a warm smile on her face.
“I want some flowers for my m…husband.” I said and she nodded her head.
“Do you have anything in mind?” she asked me, but I shook my head.
“All I want is the flowers to convey my love.” I told her and she nodded her head.
“Would you like to buy the classic red roses then?” she asked me, but I was not sure. My eyes briefly looked out, when I saw that the traffic was starting to move.
“Okay,” I told her.
“Give me five minutes, I will get you the bouquet,” she said. I made my way to the cashier while I waited for the woman to come, and a few minutes later, she walked behind the cashier with a huge bouquet of red roses.
“Is this okay?”she asked me, and I nodded my head. After paying for the flowers, I quickly walked out of there and got into the car just when the traffic was clearing out.
“Woah! That is one huge bouquet. Are you going to surprise Beta Knight with something or what?” Rebecca asked me as she sped through the traffic and this made a blush form on my cheeks.
“I will give you all the details tomorrow.” I told her and a shy smile formed on her face.
“Okay, but I want the juicy part as well,” she said and I shook my head.
Within fifteen minutes we were out from that busy town and merged into the quiet highway. Rebecca was driving in silence while I was browsing through Instagram. “Ellie.”
“Hmm.”
“Doesn't that man look familiar?” Rebecca asked me when I finally looked up to see the omega warrior at the side of the road. It looks like his car had some issues. “Should we stop?” she asked me.
“Let’s stop and see what is the issue.”
“But I don't think it is safe, Ellie.”
“Trust me, we will just stop and see what is the issue, and we will be back on the road, all right?” I asked Rebecca and she nodded her head. She slowed down and soon stopped behind his car. Both of us got down and walked towards him.
“Miss. Amato.” he greeted as he bowed at me.
“What happened to your car?” I asked him.
“I am not sure, ma'am. It just suddenly stopped, and I am still trying to figure out what the problem is.”
“Oh, did you call anyone from the pack?” I asked him and he shook his head.
“My phone is dead. And I am not able to reach anyone through the mind link either.”
“Oh,” something didn't feel right.
“I will go to the pack and inform someone about your situation,” I said.
