Chapter 57
Eleanor Amato - POV
“My mother’s body was so mangled, that it was very hard to carry her back home. But I have always thanked my lucky stars for that. Because if our neighbors hadn't come here with their guns, I know I would have ended up just like her.” I stammered, my entire body started to tremble, and I felt my throat burn with tears.
Mom got up from her place and came and pulled me into a hug. “I am so sorry you had to see that, Eleanor. I never knew there was this much pain locked up inside you.”
“That's all right, mom. But I am happy that I at least have you now.” I mumble as I pull away from her. She wiped away my tears, and a smile formed on her face.
“I will always protect you from anything harmful, Eleanor.” Mom promised, and I nodded my head.
Ring ring.
The ringing from my cell phone broke our little moment. I took the phone out of my pocket to see that it was Ivan. “Hello?”
“Ellie, can you come and meet me at the pack house?” his excited voice reached my ears.
“What is it?”
“Alpha Derek accepted Rebecca into the pack, and he said that we can now go back home. So I want you to come with me to meet my mom,” he said all in one breath.
“Okay, I will be there in five minutes,” I said as the line was disconnected. “Mom, I have to go,” I told her, and she nodded her head.
“Okay, I will see you later, sweetheart,” she said, and I nodded my head, and rushed out of the house. Even though the sadness still lingered in my mind when it came to my friend, I knew I could never let him down again. As I got closer to the pack house, I saw Rebecca and Ivan standing on the staircase with huge smiles on their faces.
“Looks like someone is extremely happy,” I commented, which made them both turn around to face me. Rebecca ran towards me and pulled me into a bone-crushing hug.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you so much, Eleanor,” she yelled in excitement. When she pulled back, I saw the biggest smile plastered on her face.
“I did what was right, Becca.”
“You did something that Ivan refused to do. Anyway, let's go and meet his mother,” she said and held my hand as she dragged me away from the pack house. Ivan was a few steps behind us while Rebecca led the way to the bakery, and I was a little puzzled as to how she knew the way.
“How did you know where the bakery was located?”
“I saw the bakery when we drove past it earlier,” she said. As we entered the bakery, I saw Mrs. Tanner walk out of the kitchen with a frosted cake in her hand.
“Eleanor, you are back so soon,” she commented, but a confused look crossed her face as she saw Rebecca. “Who is that beautiful lady next to you?”
“Well,” I began, and right then, Ivan walked into the bakery. “Mrs. Tanner, meet Rebecca,” I said, gesturing towards Rebecca. “Ivan’s mate.”
“Ivan’s mate?” a shocked expression crossed her face as she kept looking back and forth between them. “Why didn't you tell me about this sooner, Ivan?” Mrs. Tanner asked him with a raised eyebrow.
“Mom, it is a long story. I will tell you later.” Ivan said. She kept glaring at him for quite some time when she finally nodded her head and the smile was back on her face.
“Who wants apple pie?” she asked, and all of us yelled a yes, making the customers stare at us. “Go and take a seat, I will get it for you,” she said, so we walked to a table.
Beta Xavier Costa. - POV
“You still think it's a good idea to have a rogue inside the pack?” I asked Samuel as I got myself a few guns that I would need. After Samuel decided to take the rogue in, I was still a little skeptical, but there was nothing I could do since her background was clean. When Eleanor brought that rogue home yesterday, I wasn't very happy about it, but she was so adamant with her decision I know we can not change her mind any time soon.
“I have someone watching over her moves, so relax, Xavy,” Samuel said as he handed over the silver bullets.
After I had packed my bag with all the necessary equipment, I walked out of the pack house to see Marquez waiting for me. The sun hasn't even risen yet, but I know that we will have to go there before anyone comes. “Where’s the rogue?” I asked Marquez as I loaded the bags in the car.
“He will be transported in a van with five warriors.”
“Okay, then let's get going,” I said and we made our way to the car. I sat in the passenger seat, and Marquez sat in the driver seat, and we were soon off. The location that the rogue said was a three-hour drive from my pack.
“We are here,” Marquez said, and I looked up from my phone. We were entering a small human town that I had never been to before.
“He is quite smart,” I said. As we entered the town, I realized that there was some sort of a festival that was going to take place here today because all the streets were decorated.
“Should we go in or park somewhere here?” Marquez asked me as the place began to get crowded.
“Let's park the vehicle and walk,” I said and my mind linked the warriors about our plan as well. After finding a suitable place to park, the rogue was brought to us. I handed him the cap and sunglasses, which he quickly wore. “Don't try to fool or run away. If you do something like that, I will press this little button.” I showed him the remote in my hand. “And the silver beads inside your body will explode. Got it?” I asked him, and he nodded his head.
