Chapter 49

Eleanor Amato - POV

After taking a shower, I changed into a pair of shorts and a skinny top before I walked downstairs. When I walked into the kitchen, I saw Mom was making omelets while Xavier was sipping his coffee. “Good morning.” I greeted them both.

“Good morning, sweetheart,” Mom said with a smile on her face while Xavier nodded his head. “Do you want some coffee?” she asked me, but I shook my head. The thought of drinking something hot made my body temperature increase by a few degrees.

“No, I will have some orange juice,” I told her, and she nodded her head.

“Are you planning to stay at home today, dear?” Mom asked me, looking at my attire, I nodded my head. Even though I have tons of paperwork to take a look I didn't have the energy to go outside today. My body felt a few degrees hotter, and I was having this numb ache in my lower abdomen.

“I don't feel that well, mom. So I decided to have a break.” I told her, and a frown appeared on her face.

“Do you want me to call the doctor?” Xavier asked me, but I shook my head.

“No, I am just feeling hot for now. But if it worsens, then I will let you know.” I told him, and he nodded his head. After getting myself a tall glass of orange juice with extra ice cubes, I took a seat at the breakfast table.

A few minutes later, Mom brought two plates of breakfast and placed one plate in front of me while she took a seat with the other plate. A frown appeared on my face when I realized that she didn't make anything for Xavier. “Are you not hungry, Xavier?” I asked him, and he glanced at his mother, but she ignored him and continued eating her food.

“No, I just had my protein shake,” he said as he got up from his place. “I will catch up with you later,” he said, and I nodded my head. He walked closer to me and placed a chaste kiss on my forehead. “Goodbye, Mom,” he said, but she ignored him.

Something doesn't feel right in here.

Xavier didn't stay long or wait for a response, instead, he walked out of there without saying a word. “Mom, is there something I am missing?” I asked her.

“No, dear. Would you like some more eggs?” she asked me, but I shook my head and began eating. Once we were done with breakfast, I helped Mom wash all the dishes. “I have a luncheon with a few of my friends.”

“You go ahead, mom. I will be fine.”

“Shall I make some soup for you for lunch before I go?” she asked me, but I shook my head.

“No, I will order from the pack house kitchen,” I told her, and she nodded her head.

“Okay, and Henry and I will not be coming back home tonight, please inform Xavier about that, dear.”

“Oh, where are you going?” I asked her, and a shy smile appeared on her face.

“A little gateway that we planned for the weekend.”

“Okay, enjoy your weekend,” I said and walked towards her and pulled her into a hug.

“Sure, you stay safe. Okay?” she asked me, and I nodded my head.

I walked back up to Xavier’s room, rearranged all the pillows in the bed, and got ready to take some rest. “Erica?” I tried to reach out to my wolf again, but there was no response from her yet. The ache in my lower abdomen increased, so I took some painkillers and went to bed.

A sharp pain in my lower abdomen woke me up from my slumber, and I looked out to see that the sun was starting to set.

Shit! I must have slept through lunch.

My stomach began to growl in hunger, but the pain in my abdomen was starting to become unbearable.

Is Xavier with that slut again?

I thought, but I soon threw that thought out the window because this pain felt different, and I was also drenched in my own sweat even though I had reduced the temperature of the air conditions to its coldest setting.

I think an ice bath would work.

I made my way into the bathroom and started filling the bathtub with ice water, once it was filled to the brim, I quickly removed all my clothes and submerged my scalding body into the ice-cold water, instantly letting out a sigh.

The relief I felt only lasted for a few minutes when my body started to heat up again, and this time, I felt my core thumbing with need.

What is going on with my body?

I closed my eyes to try to find some relief from this pain, but my mind was soon flooded with the images of Xavier. His chiseled chest glistened with water as he climbed on top of me. His lips placed on mine in a sensual kiss that made me moan out loud. But this thought was not enough to satisfy the craving within me.

“Xavier?” I tried to mind-link him.

“Eleanor, are you okay?” his panicked voice filled my mind.

“No, I need you, Xavier.” I breathed out.

“I am on my way. Hold on,” he said before the mind link was cut off.

Xavier Costa - POV

I was in the middle of a very important meeting when I got Eleanor’s link, and from her strained voice, I knew that something was wrong. “Marquez, you continue the meeting, I have to go and see, Eleanor,” I told him as I got up from my place, and he nodded his head.

I ran out of the meeting room and all the way to my house. As I reached the front door, I noticed that the house was pitch dark. “What happened to her now?”

I quickly unlocked the door and walked into the house to see that Eleanor was not downstairs. “Eleanor?” I yelled, but I didn't get any response. I walked upstairs, and as I got closer to my room, my nostrils were bombarded with a delicious scent that made me aroused.
