Chapter 3
Eleanor Amato - POV
I felt lighter after that run I went on last night, which would help me deal with the stress of the Moon Ball tonight. Talking about the Moon Ball, I looked down at my dress, and this made me scrunch my nose.
Karla should have just let me pick a dress for myself. I mean, it is not like the dress is not beautiful, but it isn't really my style. It was a wine-red dress that was sleeveless, and it has quite a deep neckline and a huge slit on the left leg that stopped a few inches above my knees. If this doesn't scream slut I know the low backline would definitely do the job.
“We do look badass though,” Erica said, but I shook my head, I knew exactly why she chose a dress like this for me. It was not out of love but definitely to portray me in a bad light, but I don't give a flying fuck.
I took my curlers out from my hair, letting it fall into a wavy mess before I moved to my eye shadow palette to touch up my makeup. “Eleanor, we are leaving in five minutes.” I heard my father’s gruff voice from downstairs, so I quickly grabbed the off-white purse, stuffed my phone and a few dollars, and walked out of my room.
When I reached the foyer, I saw that everyone was dressed and waiting for me. Karla was wearing a black long-sleeved dress that flowed down to cover her shoes while Avery wore something that was way worse than mine. It was a pink lace dress that barely covered much of her skin.
“Let's go.” my father said and quickly walked out of the house. The SUVs were already waiting for us. Karla, Jacob, and my father got in the first one while Avery and I got into the second, and we soon drove off.
I turned my attention to the window while Avery was busy texting someone. As we passed by the small pack town, my eyes sparkled in awe. Streetlights were all turned on, making the brick structures stand out in the dark. Some shops had some extra decorations with fairy lights and flowers, making it more appealing to the eyes.
We soon left the pack territory and merged into a highway that had nothing but trees on either side. After a forty-five-minute ride, the SUV turned into a narrow lane before we reached a huge iron gate that soon opened to let us in.
Well, this pack seems like a small one. I thought.
But the further we went in, my eyes slowly grew to the size of saucers. The pack town was huge, and there were a few tall glass buildings and a lot of modernized boutiques, flower shops, bakeries, and a lot more. It was a miniature New York City hidden in the middle of nowhere.
I have never seen a pack like this before.
As we drove past the town, a lot of two-storey and one-storey houses began to emerge and some were in the size of mansions with their own private garden. “What's the name of this pack?” I asked, but I didn't bother to get an answer.
“It's the Full Moon pack.” surprisingly, Avery answered my question, and it took me a few seconds for her words to sink in when my eyes slightly widened.
Why are they hosting this event?
The Full Moon is the strongest and largest pack in this country, and even though many claim that their Alpha is one of the most feared in this country, he is not as ruthless as his beta. For decades, they have managed to thrive on their own, making sure to keep their distance from the other packs. And this was also the only pack that never allied with anyone.
So, this made me wonder what made them host the Moon Ball this year and why are they planning to form alliances now.
My thoughts came to an abrupt stop when the SUV stopped in front of a mansion. The biggest that I have seen so far. Soon, our doors were opened, and we were helped out of the SUV by the Full Moon warriors.
I walked to stand in front of Avery, who didn't look as shocked or in awe as I was. “Let's head inside. Mom and Dad are already there.” Avery spoke before she started climbing the staircase, and I followed behind.
There was a huge water fountain in the foyer with two sets of staircases leading to the upper floors, and an elevator in between. The entire place was well lit with a huge chandelier right above the fountain, and there were three hallways.
“Miss. Amato, please follow me.” a warrior greeted us, and he started walking into the second hallway. This hallway was also lit up with warm light, and there were a lot of wooden tables placed at regular intervals, which had huge vases of multi-colored flowers.
The warrior soon came to a stop in front of a pair of wooden double doors and opened them for us to enter. Avery walked in without even glancing at the warrior, but I made sure to smile at him. “Thank you for helping us.” I politely thanked him, and he nodded his head.
It was a huge ballroom with a lot of wooden tables placed in here, and most of them were already occupied. I stood near the doorway and scanned my surroundings, making a gasp leave my mouth. The room was done with warm colors and decorated with fresh flowers, but what caught my attention was that the four walls of the ballroom were made out of glass overlooking the dark forest outside.
“Eleanor, stop embarrassing us and get to the table right now.” my father mind linked me, which made me fix my glance at my family, who were throwing daggers at me. I quickly made my way to our table and took a seat between Avery and Jacob. “Make sure you don't embarrass us today.” my father’s voice rang in my head, and I nodded my head.
“Yes, Father,” I replied back before I leaned in my chair and grabbed the glass of champagne and down the entire drink in one go. My insides burned in anger at my father's harshness towards me, but I made sure to keep my mouth shut. I mean, it's not like I have always lived in the bed of luxury, unlike him.
Well, I hope I survive this night.
