Chapter 23
Eleanor Amato - POV
He glared at me while I glared back at him before he stormed out of the room while I stood rooted in my spot. “Eleanor.” I gently removed Marquez’s hand from my shoulder and turned around to face him.
“This is an issue that is going on between Xavier and me, please don't try to help us.” I silently begged them both, and when Alpha Derek tried to open his mouth, I shook my head.
“I know he despises me. Let him stay that way.”
“How is he going to see your worth if we don't intervene, Eleanor?” Marquez questioned, and a smile formed on my face.
“He is still hurting from his past. I will show him what he is missing and make him regret it.” I promised before I turned around and walked out of the room. I wouldn't go around sleeping or flirting with other men like how he is doing to me with Jade, but I will show him who I truly am.
I am not going to reject my mate till I try my very best to prove myself to him because even though I still might have a chance to find a second chance mate, I know that for him there is no third chance.
People think I am crazy after everything that happened. But the look of pain and regret I saw in his eyes last night, I know that I still have hope. But I made a promise to myself that if he slept with another woman in the future, I would just pack up and leave.
I walked out of the hospital and made my way to Xavier’s house, and when I entered, I realized that he hadn't come back here. I quickly made my way up to my room, took a quick shower, changed into a long-sleeved t-shirt and my blue jeans, and walked out of the house.
“Eleanor!” Mrs.Tanner’s cheerful voice made a smile appear on my face, but the smile soon deflated when I saw Ivan standing next to her. My heart started racing.
Hopefully, he hasn't told anything to her.
“Ivan told me that you fainted this morning when you were walking towards the bakery,” she said as she walked towards me with a slice of apple pie. A frown appeared on my face, but I saw Ivan nod his head.
“Y…yes, Mrs.Tanner. I didn't have dinner last night, and I skipped breakfast too. That was why.” I told her as she forced the plate of apple pie onto my hand.
“That is a very bad habit, Eleanor. Skipping your meals. Now you sit here and finish this food, and then come into the kitchen, I will arrange everything for you.” Mrs.Tanner said before she left us alone. Ivan walked towards my table and took a seat next to me.
“How are you feeling right now?” he asked me while I played with my food.
“I know what you want to ask.”
“I am not going to ask anything that you don't want to answer,” Ivan said with sincerity. “I know you will figure it out, Eleanor,” he said, and this made my eyes brim with tears, I turned around and pulled him into a hug. “Let it out, Eleanor,” he whispered in my ear as he patted my back. We stayed in that way for a couple of more minutes before I pulled back.
I started eating the food in front of me, and once I finished, Ivan got up with my plate. “I have to go for my patrol now. But if you need to talk to someone, then I will be here, all right?” Ivan said, and I nodded my head and walked into the kitchen.
I soon began working on the cake, decorating it, and doing the writing, it took me two hours, but I was finally done. I looked at my watch to see that I still had two hours for Jane’s and Philip’s mating ceremony. “Please deliver this cake to the venue, Mrs.Tanner.”
“Sure, thank you so much for doing this at the last minute,” she said, and I nodded my head, and made my way back to Xavier’s house. After taking a shower, I wore a pink floral dress and wore a necklace, and earrings to finish my outfit and made my way to the river.
The arrangements were almost done. The empty arch that was by the river was now decorated with fresh flowers, and purple and teal chairs were already neatly arranged facing the arch. And to the left side, a table was placed with the food ready, and the cake was already delivered.
I walked towards the arch and looked down at the river. “Thank you so much, Miss. Amato.” I turned around to see Philip standing next to me, wearing a blue suit. “This is beyond what we expected.”
“It's my pleasure. And I am happy that everything is to your liking because this is your big day.” I told him, and he nodded his head, and I turned around to see that the place was filling up. I got down from the arch and stood in the corner, watching the beautiful scene unfold in front of me.
Once all the guests had come, I took my seat in the front row with the parents, the music slowly changed, and all of us turned around to see the bride walking down the aisle accompanied by her father.
After he handed his daughter over to Philip, he came and took his seat, and the mating ceremony soon began. After the couple exchanged their vows and their rings, it was time for the mating process. “The man would first bite the female, and then this process would be repeated with the female, all right?” he asked, and the both of them nodded their head.
Philip stepped forward and he bit on Jane’s shoulder, and Jane did the same, finally sealing their bond while everyone clapped and cheered for the new couple. A bittersweet smile appeared on my face.
