Beta Xavier Costa.

Chapter 18

Beta Xavier Costa - POV

I marched out of the house, and while I was on my way to my office, I felt someone try to mind link, and even though I was not in the mood to speak to anyone, I let it through. “Xavier, please come to my office now,” Samuel commanded before the mind link was abruptly cut off.

I wanted to just ignore it and go to my office, but I knew that it must be important, so I made my way to his office. When I arrived there, I saw Marquez was already there. “How was the dinner last night?” Samuel asked me as I closed the door behind me.

“It went smoothly, and the Alpha is willing to sign a contract with us,” I told him, and he nodded his head. “I have already drafted the contract, so it would be better if you could go there and get it signed.”

“Thank you, Xavier, I will go and visit him as soon as I can,” Samuel said, and I nodded my head and went and took a seat in front of him. He had a glass of whiskey, and it looked like this was not the first glass. Samuel usually never drinks at work unless he is stressed out about something.

“What's going on?” I asked him.

“The rogue issue is going out of hand, Xavy,” Marquez spoke, and I looked towards him, and that was when I noticed that he was also having a glass of whiskey.

“Did something happen last night?” I asked him, and he nodded his head while he let out an exhausted sigh. “Why didn't you inform me?”

“You were at a dinner with the alpha, that was why I didn't alert you,” Marquez said, and this only pissed me off.

“Don't be mad with him. I am the person who told him not to inform you.” Sam intervened, and this made me turn around to look at him. “We are in a crucial position right now, Xav. And we badly need alliances of the other packs,” he explained.

“You are right,” I said and leaned back in my chair. “So what happened?” I asked, and this made both of them go quiet again, and I saw Marquez down his drink in one go.

“Two of our pack members were murdered. There were two guys and a girl in the forest last night. Both the guys were murdered, while the girl is missing.” Sam said, and this made a shiver run down my spine.

“How do you know there was a girl with them?”

“One of the guys was still alive when we went to help them, and he told us that they took his mate, and she was already badly injured.” my heart constricted when I heard that.

“Have we found the girl yet?” I asked, and Samuel shook his head.

“I am worried about her, Xavier. Who knows what sort of torture she is subjected to?”

“I know, I will see if I can send a few of the trackers to track them down.”

“We tried that, but they couldn't find anything. I will find a way.” I told Sam with finality in my voice, and he nodded his head.

“We also want to talk about something else with you.” Sam began, and I instantly knew what he was trying to talk about.

“Don't meddle with my personal life, Sam,” I told him before I got up from my place, but he did the same and walked to stand in front of me.

“Give her a fucking chance, Xavier. At least talk to her and get to know her. I am not telling you to accept her as your mate right away. Start somewhere and see where this goes. Unless you really know who she is, you can never judge her character.”

“Why are you so concerned about my life, Sam?”

“It's because we know what would happen to wolves who would remain single for the rest of their lives, Xav.” Marquez chimed in, and a sinister smile appeared on my face.

“You think I will go crazy once Eleanor leaves the pack? That I would never be able to function as a beta?” I challenged, but he didn't speak.

“As your Alpha, I am ordering you to give your relationship a chance, Xavier.” both of them stared at me, waiting to see my reaction while I remained quiet. So far, I didn't see her doing anything that I didn't like or that would hurt me. I mean, for god sake, she doesn't even dress like a slut at all.

“Let's give her a chance and see where this goes, Xavier,” Kyle begged me, and I knew he must be hurting by my actions, so I let out a sigh and nodded my head.

“I am only doing this just to show you guys that Eleanor is not all innocent.” I warned them, but a smile already formed on their faces. “I am getting out of here,” I said as I walked towards the door and left his office.

When I reached my office, I mind-linked the kitchen to send me a coffee. And began looking through all the paperwork that had piled up on my desk.

I was busy reading a contract when my phone rang, and I took it to see that it was Elizabeth.

Right on time.

“Hello, have you got what I asked for?” I asked her.

“Always the impatient one. Don't you want to greet me and ask how I am?” she asked me in a sweet voice, and this made me roll my eyes.

“I don't have time for all that bullshit, Eliza,” I told her, getting irritated.

“Fine, I have made the concoction. Shall I give it to your warrior, who is standing guard in front of the pack borders?”

“Sure, I would also like another favor from you,” I told her, and I heard some shuffling in the background.

“What do you want now?”

“A girl is missing from my pack, and the trackers are not able to locate her. Could you help me locate her?” I asked her.

“Well, I do have a few spells that can be used. I will text you the place and time, where we could meet,” she said.

“Thank you,” I told her before she hung up.
