Beta Mates

Kara excused herself and got up to leave calling to Adam she was going to shower and get dressed. He acknowledged her with a wave and continued to play with the kids. She took a quick shower and rinsed off the chlorine and washed her hair. After she dried off she put on a pair of shorts and a short sleeved blouse with her favorite pair of comfortable sandals. She decided to leave her hair down to air dry and it spiraled into loose curls. Hopefully I will get to see Kate sometime today she thought. She headed over to the pack house to see if Kate had made an appearance.

As she walked over to the pack house entrance her sister ran down the steps and gave her a hug. “Look” she said excitedly pulling her hair aside to show the fresh mate mark on her neck. Kara gasped “already?!” “Well yes he is my fated mate and I don’t want to waste even a minute of being his after waiting all this time” she exclaimed. “I’m so happy for you!” Kara exclaimed privately thinking that Adam will be upset that I’m taking so long and he chose the wrong sister.

Shane walked down the steps and wrapped his arms protectively around his new mate. Kara looked up at his smiling face and her glowing sister and congratulated the happy couple. “Would you mind if I stole your new bride for a few minutes?” she asked. Shane smiled and said “If you must but I have to get her back soon, we have a lot of catching up to do.” He winked roguishly at them. Kara cringed “that is my sister you are insinuating about you know”!

They walked over to a quiet area near the wood line and sat at one of the many picnic tables. Kate looked at her sister and said “what’s wrong I know that look on your face.” “I still have doubts about my mate. Well more like doubting myself instead of doubting him. He is a funny, smart, strong wonderful guy. “Sounds like someone is falling in love” sang Kate. “I am but do I deserve someone like him? And how do I explain Cage?” “Do you still have feelings for Cage” asked Kate. “I don’t know, what I feel for Adam is way stronger than what I felt for Cage but what kind of person am I that I fall out of love in four months? I mean I was ready to mate him and if circumstances were different I would be mated to him! Am I some kind of a tramp?”

Kate laughed “no, you have to remember the moon goddess made everybody a fated mate that is perfect for you and you are supposed to be madly in love with Adam. It wasn’t meant to be with Cage but your human part was in a turmoil then and you turned to him. The moon goddess stepped in and stopped the mating so you could find Adam. Like it or not you need to sit him down and tell him what you are feeling.” “ I know but I don’t want to hurt him” Kara said. “I see a softer side of you since you met him, not such a hard ass stated Kate. “Well he keeps me on my toes for sure, he is a wild card when he wants to be” Kara laughed. “Its good to see you happy sis smiled Kate now when do I get to meet him?” “ Well see that tall blonde guy heading towards us? That’s him” said Kara. Kate whistled lowly “wow he makes that young Eastwood actor look like crap!” Kara agreed.

Adam walked over to the girls sitting at the picnic table and smiled his gorgeous white dimpled smile at them and introduced himself to Kate. “I assume you are the new Luna and my future sister in law?” “You assume correctly” Kate smiled. Jimmy ran up to Kara and let her know that Missy wanted to speak to her in the kitchen so she reluctantly left her mate and her sister talking to see what was needed. When she reached the kitchen the ladies asked her about setting up a schedule for their training so there would be someone to be able to cook and serve meals and also child care.
