Unwanted Visitors
Kelly's POV
I entered the meeting room and I clenched my jaws after seeing all the shareholders sitting on the long conference table while Connor Foster, my uncle was sitting on the middle chair.
I dropped my bag on the table and stood in front of everyone. "What is this meeting all about?"
"Miss Monroe, we're sorry for calling an urgent meeting when you just encountered a fire incident." I pressed my lips together as one of the shareholders spoke.
"We called because we want to make sure that the company will not suffer, Miss Monroe. We have heard about your little drama with your adoptive father and step brother."
I looked into Connor Foster's eyes because of what he said. He looked concerned and serious which annoyed the hell out of me. I definitely know why he's doing this. He's trying to poison the minds of the shareholders so he can get the position back.
I took a deep breath and pressed my palms on the table before I lifted my face and looked at them again.
"Is this meeting all about invalidating my rights as the heiress of tompany? Stated by my grandmother herself?"
The shareholders looked away and I lifted my chin, not wanting to give up.
"Technically, this is for the better future of the company, Kelly. How can you assure us that the company is safe when rumors circulating around the internet was all about you and your secret rendezvous with your legal stepbrother-"
"My relationship with my stepbrother is out of your business, Mr. Foster. I have all the rights and credentials to manage this company. In fact, I am also the current CEO of another company which almost went bankrupt but is coping up now under my leadership." The coldness of the air conditioner seemed to intensify because of the tension. The shareholders
must've felt the personal issues between me and my uncle that they cannot bring themselves to intervene.
Connor Foster pulled himself up and fixed his eyeglasses. "You're taking this personally, Kelly I just want the company-"
"...back under your leadership?" I cut him off and shot an eyebrow up as I stood straight and crossed my arms. "I know that very well, Mr. Foster. You are the one taking it personally. I'm just doing the job my grandmother, your mother, left to me.
He clenched his jaws and looked at the shareholders. "I believe she's too young to handle the company, gentlemen. I mean how can a woman, a thirty years old single mother manage two companies at the same time? She'd get easily distracted because of her child. In Addition to the fact that her ex lover, who is also her stepbrother, is a criminal, roaming around and obsessing over her."
I gritted my teeth. "Does that make me less of a leader?"
"I don't know. You answer it yourself."
I smirked sarcastically and shook my head. "Well, to tell you frankly, Mr. Foster. My struggles in life made me stronger and still makes me stronger. I have learned to not let my emotions take over me and I can prioritize both my daughter and my companies. I am very confident with my skills and knowledge, so I don't see any reason as to why you keep on insisting that a woman, like me, cannot rule the companies that are my families' legacies."

One of the shareholders cleared his throat and lifted his arm. "Then...I supposed it's settled. We'll agree to have you as the executive."
"You can't be serious," Connor Foster laughed without humor. "She can't handle the company."
"I can't or you don't want me to?" I said, looking straight into my uncle's eyes.
He stared at me with sharp eyes and after a few seconds, he walked out of the meeting room, slamming the door. I took a deep breath as I looked at the shareholders.
I didn't have plans on fighting with them over the company. At first, I thought about refusing it but after I read the reports regarding my mother's death...I changed my mind. I need the company. I need money. I need the power to fight those who want to harm me and my family. After the short meeting, I went back to the hospital and I paused after I opened the door, realizing there's another person inside aside from Ana, Emily and Pierce. Sitting on the couch, seriously talking were Pierce and Caleb. I don't know what they're talking about but when they felt my presence, they both pulled themselves up and looked at me.
"How's your meeting?" Pierce was the first to ask.
"There was a little problem but it's okay now."
"I heard about the fire incident so I came here to visit." Caleb said a ne watched me intently.
I entered the room completely and walked towards them. Snow is asleep while Ana's eating an apple. Emily, on the other hand, was sitting on the bed while scrolling on her phone.
I sat in front of Pierce and Caleb. They sat on the couch again and watched my face.
"Thank you for the visit," I said to Caleb and smiled. He nodded and smiled back.
"I'm going now, Kelly," Pierce said, earning my attention.
I stared at him and slowly nodded afterwards. When he left, I had the urge to run after him and tell him about something he should've known from the very beginning but we already talked and we'll give ourselves a chance once the mess is over. By that time, I know I already have the courage to tell him
about Snow.
"Kelly..." Caleb called my attention.
"Sorry," I immediately said and shifted on my seat.
He opened his lips to say something again but the door swung open. Two people I didn't expect to see
here entered. Anger washed over me as I pulled myself up and faced them.
One of them looked at me and smiled mischievously. The other landed his gaze on my daughter.
"What are you doing here, Sara Foster?"
She shot an eyebrow up. "We're visiting our niece, Kelly. What else?"
