Chapter 134
Kelly's POV
"Is something wrong?"

I lifted my face to look at Pierce and slowly shook my head as I entered Snow's hospital room. Pierce was sitting beside her, caressing her hair. I walked towards them and kissed Snow's forehead. "How are you feeling, sweetheart? Are you hurt somewhere?"
Snow smiled and shook my head. "No, mommy. Aunt Emily and Aunt Ana were there to save me. They're my heroes, just like you."
I smiled and nodded at her before looking at Pierce.
"Ana's in the other room. She has a minor burn."
"Thank you, Pierce."
"You're always welcome."
Sitting on the couch was Emily, silently watching us. I pressed my lips together and walked towards her. I sat beside her.
"Is everything alright?"
I took a deep sigh. "Your husband called me again. He's manipulating me again, saying he's not the one who started the fire and he can't harm anyone I love because he wants my forgiveness." Emily held my hand. "So, are you going to believe him?"
"I can't bring myself to believe his words, Emily. I'm tired of getting disappointed."
"Then, don't believe him. Choosing yourself is not selfishness, Kelly.
I smiled and nodded. I turned to Snow and Pierce who were talking to each other. I just said goodbye to Pierce but here we are again, together. I don't know if fate is really playing with us but this is making me insane.
My phone suddenly vibrated. It was an incoming call from my executive assistant in the Foster's family business. I don't remember having a schedule today.
"Hello?"
[Miss Kelly, the shareholders called for an urgent meeting at 3 PM today.]
My forehead creased. "For what?"
[I think it's about the issues about you, Miss. Mr. Foster is also here.]
I massaged my forehead and clenched my jaws. "I have a situation. Tell them I can't leave my daughter today
Pierce and Emily looked at me because of what I said. I pulled myself up and walked around the room before I stopped beside the window.
[Mr. Foster said it's urgent, Miss. I already tried explaining about your situation right now after I heard the news about the fire. He just won't accept the reason, Miss.]
I took a deep sigh and nodded. "I'll be there."

After I ended the call, I faced Pierce, Emily and Snow who y

it my lower lip. "Though I won't leave until I hear the investigation about the fire in the condo."
I bit
"I'll do it," Pierce volunteered. "I'll talk to the firemen and officers in charge of the incident."
I shook my head. "I want to personally hear the report, Pierce. I can't focus on other things until I make sure that my daughter is safe."
He nodded and sighed. "I understand. I'll stay here, then. Until you come back."
"Thank you."
"Alright!" Emily clapped her hands and pulled herself up. "Why don't I come with you, Kelly? I'm sure you need company."
"Yes, please
"Kay! We'll use my car, then."
I watched Emily as she left the hospital room. I walked towards the bed and looked at Snow.
"Sweetie, mommy needs to go somewhere, okay?"
She smiled and nodded. "I'm with daddy Pierce, mommy, so I'll be fine here."
I smiled. "Hmm? My baby is a big girl now, huh?"
"Yes, mommy. Take care of yourself and don't worry about me."
I chuckled and nodded. "Understood, pumpkin. Stay here and don't go without daddy Pierce, okay? Wait until mommy comes back."
"Aye aye, captain mommy!"
I smiled again and messed her hair up after kissing her forehead. When my eyes turned to Pierce, I saw him staring intently. His stares were so shameless that it was me who felt embarrassed.
I cleared my throat. "Uhm... I'll be right back."
"I'll be waiting," he whispered, still staring intensely.
I'm afraid he'd hear the loud beating of my heart so I moved away and nodded at him. I grabbed my bag before I walked towards the door. After opening it, I looked back again. Snow was turning the television on while Pierce's eyes were following my movements. "Take care," he mouthed and I nodded before leaving completely.
I stopped in the hallway and took a deep breath. I'm going to the police station to get the update on the investigation regarding the fire incident. I don't believe Klay when he said he wasn't involved. He's evil, so I won't accept any ridiculous reasons from him. He can't hurt the people I love because he wants my forgiveness? Totally absurd! He's so obsessed with me that he can hurt anyone just so he can manipulate me.
"It was an accident, ma'am. The fire started from the unit next to yours. The tenant forgot to unplug her appliances and it caused the fire to break."
This is crazy! It was really an accident? No! There must be foul play.
I shook my head. "Are you sure, officer?"
"Yes, ma'am. The management of the condominium tower already gave their statement and the firemen who investigated the incident proved the accident."
Slowly, I nodded and swallowed hard. He didn't start the fire. It was an accident. Klay wasn't involved and I blamed him. He can't blame me for thinking that way. He introduced me to the evil side of him and I can't take it out of my mind.
"So, are you satisfied now that Snow's life is not in danger?"
I looked at Emily. "I don't know, Emily. I'm not convinced."
She nodded and gripped the steering wheel as she started the engine.
"Women's instinct is absolute. And I can't say that you're just paranoid because protecting someone isn't a paranoia. So, I'll help you investigate the fire incident.
I looked at her with full of hope. "Please..."
She glanced at me. "Don't worry about Snow. You have people around you who care for her. Focus on yourself and the companies you are handling. You can't lose focus, Kelly. If your hunch was right....that this fire incident was intentional, then the culprit must be trying to scare you away, to make you paranoid and finally lose your focus
on your companies.
"You think.." I paused and swallowed hard. "...do you think my mom's biological family was involved?"
"Could be..." She glanced at me again, still driving. "You said you discovered that your mom's death wasn't an accident. If they can harm their own sibling, then, you have the reason to be paranoid and protective of your daughter."
