Chapter Mom Don’t 8

Chapter 8

I stood in front of them, feeling their anger.

A sharp pain pierced my heart.

Mom, I never mess around. I never curse you.

I’m just…

I’m just dead.

They say mothers and their kids are bonded. But how come you still don’t feel a thing now that I’m dead?

I stopped breathing in that video. If you had observed carefully, you would have noticed the bruises and binding marks on my ankles.

And I said no such things. If you had trusted me even a little bit, you would have known that it was fake. It was AI technology.

But there were no ifs.

After a few seconds of silence, someone on the other end of the line said, “Hi there. This is Sunset Road Police Station. Is this the family of the phone owner?

“We busted a cell phone theft, and this is one of the phones we found. Feel free to come and claim it whenever you’re available.”

My mom checked the caller ID repeatedly to confirm.

She then casually said, “No need. You can do whatever you want with it.”

After hanging up the phone, she continued to organize my things.

“She is so troublesome. She can’t even keep an eye on her phone. What else can she do? She’s such a loser. What a jinx.”

All my things had been sorted out and thrown into the trash bin,

including my bedding.

My room became Wendy’s study, and all traces of me in this house had been erased.

No one mentioned me in the following days.

They were all preparing for Wendy’s banquet.

Wendy had been smart since childhood, and her grades this time were very good.

On the day of the banquet, the hotel was beautifully decorated, and the entrance was filled with flowers that Wendy liked.

She walked into the venue wearing a custom–made dress.

Everyone gave thumbs up to Wendy, with expressions of blessing, envy, or admiration.

My parents enjoyed their praise and grinned non–stop.

“Wendy is outstanding. From when she was a little girl, she was always thoughtful and caring for us. We never have to worry about her.”

“I’m so lucky to have her as my daughter.”

Wendy was like a princess when she was surrounded by them.

She was so beautiful.

My soul stood in front of them, numbly looking at everything and

everyone.

It seemed that everything here had nothing to do with me.

I came here after all after I died, though this place never belonged to me.

My mom kept praising Wendy.

She didn’t bring me up at all.

One of my cousins thought of me.
