Chapter Benson 270
Chapter 270: Endless Entanglement
When Yvonne heard that Benson had been in a car accident, she felt a wave of dizziness, as if her entire world was collapsing in an instant. Her heart pounded anxiously, like a caged bird frantically flapping its wings.
Victoria’s face turned pale, and her body began to tremble uncontrollably.
Victoria had experienced the tragic loss of her eldest son when she was younger, a pain and helplessness that had left a deep scar in her heart. Now, Benson’s accident seemed to reopen that old wound, plunging her into panic and despair.
“Mom, don’t panic,” Yvonne said, trying to support Victoria while also attempting to calm her. Her voice trembled slightly, but she tried to remain composed. “Let’s go to the hospital first. Everything will be okay; try to stay calm.”
“1
Victoria’s breathing was rapid and unsteady, and she kept murmuring, Don’t think too much, stay calm, stay calm…” Her voice grew weaker, as if she might be consumed by fear at any moment.
Yvonne felt a deep sadness, but she had to remain strong. She quickly instructed the driver to head to the hospital.
The atmosphere in the car was heavy and oppressive, and Yvonne felt as though each second was dragging on endlessly.
She knew that, even though she and Benson were divorced, there was no deep animosity between them; the end of their marriage had simply set them on different paths. However, despite everything, she still hoped Benson was safe, rather than facing such an accident.
Suppressing her sorrow, she tried to keep Victoria engaged in conversation to distract her.
When they arrived at the hospital, Yvonne and Victoria hurried out of the car. Supporting Victoria, they made their way to the outside of the operating room. The hospital’s white walls appeared especially cold under the lights, and the noise in the hallway only heightened their anxiety.

Victoria’s face turned ashen, and she almost collapsed into a eyes filled with helplessness and despair. She clung tightly to hand, tears streaming down her face.
“It’s going to be okay.” Yvonne whispered in an attempt to comfort her.” Benson will be alright.”
Time passed slowly, and finally, at around 5 p.m., Benson was wheeled out of the operating room. His face was pale, but there was still some clarity in his eyes.
Seeing Benson awake, Victoria rushed to her husband’s shoulder, crying uncontrollably. Her tears were a mix of pain and guilt that she couldn’t
hold back
Although the accident had injured Benson’s forehead, the damage was not as severe as they had feared. The doctors found some blood clots in his brain, but they said it needed further observation.
Once Benson regained consciousness, he immediately called for a doctor. The doctor entered the room and began checking his condition.
He held up his fingers and asked Benson to count them, “Mr. Benson, how many fingers am I holding up?”
Bensoris patience was wearing thin, his brows furrowed in frustration.” Three, three, three–how many times do I need to say it? I said three!”
As he spoke, he pushed the doctor away, clearly irritated by the repetitive
tests.
He tried to move his arm but winced in pain. Although he remained
stubborn, the unease in his eyes betrayed his inner turmoil.
The doctor, noticing this, relaxed a bit. At least Benson still had some energy. The doctor continued his examination, lightly running a pen along Benson’s calf. Benson’s leg reflexively jerked back, indicating normal nerve response, though continued observation was advised.
In the hospital room, Benson’s deep eyes scanned the crowd, “Where is she?”
He was, of course, referring to Yvonne
When Benson came out of surgery, Yvonne was standing outside, as if waiting for an eternity. Despite their recent divorce, Yvonne felt uncertain about her place in this situation. Faced with Benson’s condition, she was unsure how to handle her emotions and could only wait quietly outside.
Her feelings were complicated, torn between letting go of the past and concern for the present.
When she heard that Benson had regained consciousness, she sighed in relief, but her heart remained conflicted. He was safe, and that was good. However, as soon as she returned home, she received a call from
Matthew.
“Sister–in–law, can I see you?” Matthew’s voice was filled with anxiety on the other end of the line.
“What’s wrong? Is it serious?” Yvonne’s heart immediately tightened.
“Yes, please come over,” Matthew’s tone carried a hint of helplessness and worry.
After hanging up, Yvonne’s mood grew even heavier. Her mother, Olivia, noticed the troubled look on her face and approached her. “What’s wrong? Didn’t you say you were relieved earlier?”
Yvonne bit her lip and whispered into Olivia’s ear, “He had a car accident.”
Olivia covered her mouth in shock, her eyes wide with disbelief. “How, how could that happen?”
“An accident,” Yvonne replied, her voice low and filled with helplessness.”
But I still feel awful about it.”
She felt an indescribable sadness. She had seen him full of life that
morning, and by the afternoon, he was lying in a hospital bed because of a car accident. The contrast stirred deep emotions within her.
Half an hour later, Matthew arrived at Yvonne’s door. He looked tired, with a trace of worry etched on his brow.
Yvonne hurried to meet him, asking urgently, “What’s wrong? Is Benson in a serious condition?”
Matthew hesitated, his voice heavy. “It’s not very serious, but it’s also quite serious.”
Yvonne frowned, confusion evident on her face. “What exactly is going on?”
Matthew hesitated, searching for the right words. “Sister–in–law, I spoke too much earlier today. Before I left, my brother said he regretted it. He regretted saying those harsh words, even though deep down, he still likes you. But his prideful heart ended up hurting you.”
Yvonne’s heart skipped a beat. She tried to remain calm, but couldn’t hide the sadness in her eyes.
“It was an accident, it has nothing to do with me. What’s between us is im the past.”
Her words carried a tone of exhaustion, her inner emotional entanglement making it hard for her to maintain control.
Matthew’s expression grew even more complex as he continued,
“Sister–in–law, I know the divorce deeply hurt my brother. He feels he didn’t understand you, didn’t respect you. But now that you’re divorced, I think it’s a pity. I think he’s been trying to change. He wouldn’t smoke around you because he knew you didn’t like the smell. That shows he was changing, just a little too slowly.”
He paused, as if struggling with whether or not to continue.
“I know asking you to see him might make you uncomfortable, but… I really don’t know what else to say.”
Yonne looked at him, a gentle understanding in her eyes.
“What is it?”
Matthew swallowed hard, stammering slightly as he said, “You… should see for yourself. Maybe, you’ll understand more.”
