Chapter Benson 262
Chapter 262 Lost and Struggling
Benson’s gaze fell upon Yvonne in the room, his emotions a mix of complexity.
He stood from a distance, watching her quietly wash up and get dressed.
Her movements were gentle, like a willow branch swaying in the breeze, exuding a softness that was hard to resist.
A wave of reluctance surged in his heart, breaking the silence as he softly spoke, “Let’s not get divorced, okay?”
Yvonne paused slightly upon hearing his voice, then lowered her eyes and responded with a faint “Mm.”
Her reply was brief and perfunctory, yet it carried a sense of restraint, not wanting to provoke him further.
She knew Benson’s emotions were unstable at this moment and didn’t want to
ignite his anger.
Yvonne was a smart woman. She understood that sometimes, retreating was a
form of self–protection.
Seeing her agreement, Benson’s tense emotions relaxed a bit.
He forced a slight smile, his tone softening, “I won’t join you for dinner tonight.
Please tell Mom.”
The two of them went about their routines in silence, washing up and changing
into fresh clothes.
After getting ready, Benson left the room to visit Mr. Donald, while Yvonne headed alone to the dining room.
When she entered the dining room, she saw Steven enthusiastically chatting
with Hannah.
He had a respectful and charming smile on his face, while Hannah beamed with joy.
The atmosphere at the table was particularly harmonious, bringing a sense of relief to Yvonne.

Steven was very adept at socializing, his background and status making him thrive in such settings.
However, Yvonne keenly sensed that his behavior wasn’t entirely sincere but rather a calculated strategy.
Hannah’s fondness for Steven was evident, treating him almost like a son.
Steven’s attitude was gentle and attentive. “Godmother, I can handle it myself.
You don’t need to fuss.”
He politely responded to Hannah’s kindness while glancing at Yvonne from the corner of his eye.
In the soft light of the chandelier, Steven’s features appeared exceptionally handsome, and from Yvonne’s perspective, he even resembled Sol a bit.
This resemblance made her feel momentarily dazed, as if another shadow appeared before her.
After Yvonne sat down, Steven glanced at her briefly before resuming his
conversation with Hannah.
His smile remained polite, but that fleeting eye contact left Yvonne feeling
slightly uneasy.
Olivia noticed Yvonne’s silence and asked with concern, “Are you okay?”
Yvonne shook her head and smiled, “I’m fine.”
Soon after, dishes began arriving at the table, with Hannah kindly serving Steven food as if he were the most cherished member of the family.
“Eat up, don’t be shy.”
Seeing the mountain of food in Steven’s bowl, Yvonne couldn’t help but say, Mom, he can serve himself. Don’t overfill his plate.”
Hannah chuckled, her eyes full of affection, “Of course, I know he can, but what if he’s too shy? He should eat more.”
Steven looked at the pile of food in his bowl and gave a helpless smile, but he still graciously said, “Don’t worry, I’ll finish it.”
There was a hint of gratitude and emotion in his words because, as far as he
could remember, no one had treated him this way.
After growing up, due to his experiences and status, Steven’s personality
became increasingly cold and distant, and those around him kept a respectful
distance.
Even after marrying Olivia, he never felt such warmth.
Her heart was never with him, and their relationship was maintained only on the surface, never truly close or caring.
At this moment, Steven’s heart was filled with complex emotions.
This warmth unexpectedly came from Yvonne and Sol’s mother, leaving him feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Fate truly works in mysterious ways.
When Benson returned to his room, he was still filled with a sense of helplessness and melancholy.
He knew that agreeing to return to Olivia might have been a very bad decision.
But he also couldn’t deny that, as Benson had said, after their relationship had somewhat softened, he found himself unexpectedly enjoying this newfound
ease.
This slightly relaxed relationship made him feel much more comfortable, even beginning to like the current situation.
However, Yvonne didn’t share this sense of ease.
Her appetite was poor, her mind weighed down by heavy thoughts, and the food tasted bland in her mouth.
Olivia noticed her discomfort, gently holding her hand.
She reassured, “Are you okay? Don’t let these things weigh you down.”
Yvonne lifted her head, forcing a smile, and nodded slightly, indicating she was fine.
But her eyes still betrayed an inescapable fatigue and worry.
Her heart was enduring a silent storm, with complex emotions surging like
tides, relentlessly battering her reason.

After dinner, Yvonne ordered a cup of coffee, hoping the bitter taste would suppress her anxiety.
She absentmindedly traced the rim of the cup with her fingers, lost in thought.
Meanwhile, her mother continued to show her maternal warmth, offering
Steven some fruit with a tone full of doting care.
This scene made Yvonne’s heart tighten, as if another invisible pressure was
added.
Olivia, sitting beside her, asked with concern, “What’s going on between you
two?”
Yvonne snapped out of her thoughts, looked at Olivia, and gently shook her head, answering as calmly as possible, “Nothing, don’t worry.”
Her voice was soft, with a hint of comfort, but only she knew that this calm was only on the surface, while her heart was already in turmoil.
Yvonne leaned back on the sofa, the coffee cup in her hand still warm, yet she felt a chill creeping in, sinking her into deeper contemplation.
Just as she was lost in thought, her phone suddenly rang, pulling her back to reality.
It was a call from little Emma, her clear voice coming through the phone,” Auntie, why haven’t you been home all week?”
Hearing Emma’s voice, Yvonne felt a pang of sorrow, her eyes slightly moist.
She tried to keep her voice light, “Auntie’s been busy with something.”
Emma’s voice on the other end was full of anticipation, “Will you come back
this week? I miss you.”
Yvonne was silent for a moment, then asked with a hint of pleading, “Emma, can Auntie ask you a favor?”
Emma eagerly agreed, “Of course! What do you need? I’m happy to help.”
Yvonne sighed softly.
“Emma, could you find Grandma and tell her the story I told you the other day?”
Yvonne hadn’t wanted to involve Victoria, but her current situation left her with

no choice but to seek help.

She knew how important the Taylor family’s reputation was, and if her mother- ina
were willing to intervene, it might avoid the trouble of a divorce lawsuit.
But this decision weighed heavily on her.
Meanwhile, Benson was in Mr. Donald’s garden, holding a glass of wine, looking somewhat lost.
After taking a few sips, the frustration in his heart didn’t ease but instead grew more intense, uncontrollably churning within him.
He looked up at the night sky and murmured, “What she said isn’t true, but I can’t refute her every word. My heart still holds her, but she no longer feels it.”
Mr. Donald sat nearby, a trace of sympathy and understanding in his eyes.
He had seen too many young couples struggle with conflicts and knew that what Benson was going through wasn’t easy.
Donald sighed:
“Young couples always have a period of adjustment; it’s normal. You shouldn’t always rely on clumsy methods to handle it.”
A bitter smile appeared on Benson’s face.
“But other than these clumsy methods, I really don’t know what else to do. She says I don’t know how to love. I want to learn, but she’s no longer willing to give me time.”
