Chapter Benson 16

Chapter 16 The Cost

“Yvonnel Victoria’s eyes filled with tears. She knew Yvonne was innocent.

Yvonne turned to face Victoria, a faint smile on her face, trying to soothe her emotions. “Mom, didn’t the doctor tell you not to get upset? It’s not good for your health. I know you’re looking out for me, but Benson and I need to handle this ourselves. You and Dad should go rest. Let us deal with our issues, okay?”

Yvonne looked at Benson, his eyes filled with the usual coldness and displeasure. His eyes were like a frozen lake, devoid of warmth.

“Yvonne, you act indifferent about the divorce, as it trying to pursue a dignified separation to lower my guard. Meanwhile, you plot in secret, drugging me. You really are quite cunning and scheming.” Benson said, disdain and strong resentment in his voice,

“All these years, whether in business or personal relationships, I’ve never been brought down by a woman. You’re quite something!” Benson’s tone was icy.

Yvonne sat quietly on the sofa, her posture elegant and determined, chin slightly raised, eyes directly meeting Benson’s. There was no avoidance or anger in her gaze, only deep calmness. She chose silence in response to Benson’s accusations, not defending herself. Her silence felt like a silent protest That night, Yvonne cried bitterly, filled with despair and helplessness, begging Benson. But his reaction only grew barsher, his actions like a sharp knife repeatedly stabbing her heart.

In that moment, Yvonne’s heart turned cold. She decided to give up, no longer investing any emotions or energy into their broken marriage. Her heart was utterly exhausted.

Not only was their marriage over, but even a “sibling” relationship was impossible.

Yvonne again displayed her indifferent attitude, her expression calm, as if nothing bothered her. Her gaze revealed a profound calmness, malding it hard to see her true feelings.

Her eyelashes, like delicate fans, trembled lightly, stirring the heart. Her peach blossom eyes naturally held a misty glow, filled with endless tenderness and mystery, drawing people in. At this montent, her gaze was clean and clear, without a single distracting thought.

Seeing Yvonne like this, Benson felt an indescribable emotion. Her beauty and purity made him inexplicably restless and uneasy. “Speak!”

“There’s still enough time today. Let’s go finalize the divorce,” Yvonne said without hesitation or doubt.

Benson pondered for a long time, then smiled slightly, a complex expression on his face. He leaned in, their faces almost touching, close enough to feel each other’s breath.

Yvonne’s breath caught, reminding her of that night filled with passion and entanglement, Benson’s breath scorching like fire, intense and irresistible. That breath wrapped around them, a tangible force making her body tremble involuntarily.

Instinctively, Yvonne tried to pull away, to escape the sudden intimacy. But Benson moved faster, his fingers gripping her neck like iron clamps, firm and unyielding.

He gently forced her to tilt her head back, their eyes meeting

“Yvonne, I won’t divorce you.”

“What do you mean?” Yvonne struggled to keep her voice calm, but the tremor in her voice betrayed her inner turmoil

“All these years of our marriage, you’ve been unhappy with my cold treatment. Fine. We’ll play a different game,” Benson’s voice was low and gentle, like intimate whispers between lovers, filled with temptation and provocation. However, beneath this gentleness lay cold calculation.

His words were like a sharp knife, lightly cutting across Yvonne’s heart, causing sharp pain

Yvonne realized that despite her proposal for divorce, Benson’s attitude and actions Indicated he wasn’t planning to let go easily. Her decision seemed unable to change the course of their relationship.

“Shares, the company, I don’t want any of it!” Yvonne’s voice carried a hint of panic as she tried to show her determination to divorce by giving up all

material interests.

“What about the brooch? Don’t you want that either?” Benson changed the subject abruptly.

Benson’s thoughts drifted back to that night filled with passion and intimacy. In his memory, Yvonne’s eyes were seductive and full of desire, her body soft and compliant, every movement revealing her longing for him.

Their breaths intertwined, the air thick with an indescribable tension and anticipation.

Benson remembered how he had gently caressed Yvonne’s skin, whispering sweet nothings in her ear. “I may not like you very much, but I really like your body,” Benson’s words were cold and direct, showing no emotional attachment but openly admitting his physical desire for her

Yvonne’s anger erupted like a volcano. Without hesitation, she swung her hand to slap Benson. But Benson reacted quicker, firmly grasping her wrist, stopping the slap

Yvonne’s eyes flashed with surprise, quickly replaced by anger and determination. She struggled hard, bur Benson’s grip was like a vice, locking her wrist, making her unable to move.

The smile on Benson’s face vanished instantly, replaced by cold cruelty.

He suddenly bit down on Yvonne’s shoulder. Even through her jacket, the force was enough to cause intense pain.

Her body trembled involuntarily, but she clenched her teeth, refusing to make a sound.

Benson seemed to enjoy this control and torment. He deliberately increased the pressure, waiting for Yvonne to beg for mercy and give in.

But Yvonne’s stubbornness and pride made her endure the pain rather than submit to Benson.

Her eyes were firm and resolute, silently telling Benson that even if she had to endure more pain, she would never bow down.

The tension between them peaked, the air filled with silent tension and confrontation.

Their gazes clashed like a war without smoke, Yvonne’s resilience and Benson’s cruelty reaching a climax.

At that moment, Benson’s phone suddenly rang, breaking the tense atmosphere.

The ringtone was like a bolt of lighting, pulling them back to reality from their silent confrontation.
