Chapter 3
WES
It’s everywhere. I sense it.
I can’t even go to the bathroom without feeling paranoid.
The other morning, I swear I poured some juice. I put the juice back and turned to my glass and it was empty. I looked at the glass and nod. After refilling it, I blindly put the juice back, but don’t take my eyes off the cup. I grab it, protect it and eye the kitchen while I back out.
I woke up last night to a weight on my bed. I freaked out and fell on the floor. I know there was someone in my bed. I felt my sheet all over. I crawled back into bed and pulled the blankets up. Then I heard shuffling on the floor. I covered my head and tried to get some fucking sleep.
Today, I’m trying my hardest to concentrate of pack requests, but I can’t get this ghost off my mind or my back. What the hell does it want?
I exit out of my reports on my lap top and open the internet. In the search bar, I type ghost hunting. As I search the links, I think this is a horrible idea. It’s nothing but weird ‘paranormal scientists' who do nothing but film crappy videos of their noses while they say ghosts are in the room.
I rub my neck and click further. I click a link. “Is it a ghost or a fairy?” was the title. I sit up and start reading.
“What many believe to be spirits of the undead are often the little people some cultures believe to be fairies or fae. Nature bound, these winged creatures can be good luck to have around…”
“Yeah, right.” I mutter as I read further.
“They can be mischievous and tricky or they can be evil. Dark fairies use dark magic to create havoc to the human who’s wronged them.
Fairies are also known to kidnap children or lure men into the woods, never to be seen again.”
“Well, that’s just fucking perfect.” I grumble.
“You can find yourself bound to a fairy if you accept their gifts. These gifts can be anything. If you find a fairy’s gift, do not thank it. It will never leave you.
You know if you have a fairy around you when you find things from nature around your house. Fairies like warm socks to sleep in and will steal them. They also love warm milk. They also get into trouble. Often creating problems for their human hosts.
Unlike, ghosts, a fairy can be solidified from its invisible state by a wish.”
I sit back in my chair. I look around my office. I look at the last line on the page. I shrug. “What the hell.” I close my eyes tight. “I wish to see you.” I open one eye and look around.
I open both eyes and don’t see anything. I groan, slam my arms on my desk and my head in my arms. I am fucking nuts.

‘WE NEED TO REGROUP!’ I link to Grey.
‘EAST SIDE!’ He links back.
This is a last ditch effort for the Dragons to try step in on us. It’s funny that they do this now just as the Lycans show up and turn out to be public enemy number one.
What are lycans? If you’re into that sort of thing, in short, Werewolves that walk on two legs and look like people with wolf heads. If you need more detail, you can ask Gideon, our communications Alpha. He’s dating one named Bella. At first, the lycans were cool. Now, they decided to choose violence so we were going to show them just what that means. That was until this fucking pack showed up…again. God, why couldn’t these guys have died with Draco Torrent.
Anyway. There’s a whole, long story about that guy which I can’t get into right now. Just know he’s a dead douche.
I run at a dragon and my wolf hits him. He flies farther and faster than what I’ve ever been able to do before. Wait. Did I just?
I wrestle another and kick him off me. Again, he flies through the air like he has a rocket strapped to his back. I look at my feet with shock. What the hell?
I’m grabbed by the throat and I try to push him off. He’s damn strong and I feel blood in my fur. My wolf yelps loud, I plant my feet and with all my strength I push.
We not only break apart, but I also fly backwards right into a tree trunk. He lands against some rocks several feet away and is attack by our guys.
My ribs are broken and my neck is pouring blood, but none of that means anything right now. There’s something going on with my strength. Is this my problem? Has something inside me been trying to come out?
River breaches the battle and his black wolf skids to a stop. ‘You ok?’
I struggle to my feet. ‘Yeah. A couple broken ribs, I think.’
‘Those were some sweet moves. Where did that come from?’ he links.
‘I really have no idea.’ Because I don’t. I don’t feel any different and I know I haven’t been bitten by any radioactive spiders recently.
‘OK. Head to the med tent. We'll finish this.’ River orders.
I nod and limp off to the med tents, trying to avoid being killed in the process. Once I get to base, I shift. The medics meet me halfway and help me to a tent. They sit me down on a cot and look me over.
“Mmm…gonna be a couple of days.” The medic examining my ribs says.
“Yay, me.” I groan.
“Hey, if Mia was here, we could fix this right now, but since she’s out of town…” The medic wraps up my ribs and bandages my neck.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” I whine and lay down on the cot.
If I do have superpowers, I suck at control. I’ll need practice.
****
“Ok. Hit me.” I square up and brace myself.
“You sure?” William asks.
William Apollo. Our resident super wolf and council Alpha for Caledon. He’s three inches taller than me and at least four inches larger in the muscle department. His dark eyes, dark hair and menacing cave man look, makes him look threatening, but the guys a giant Clark Kent. He’s too nice for his own good.
“Yes. Come on. Hit me.” I encourage as we face each other on the training field. I want to find out just what kind of super powers I have.
“I really don’t think you have superpowers, Wesley.” He rubs his nape.
“Just…run at me, ok.” As much as he scares me, I need to figure this out and he’s the only one who can help me with that.
William ticks his head. “Ok.” He runs at me and swings a punch at my head. I block it and he uppercuts my chin. I’m sent to my ass in the grass.
I just lay there, silently groaning with my hands on my chest. I squeeze my eyes shut and try to dull the pain in my head.
A shadow moves across me. “You ok?”
I open my eyes to Greys smirking face and sit up. “Yeah. I’m alright.”
He helps me to my feet. “What are you doing?”
“Kicking a cave mans ass.” I growl and break into a run toward William.
I see him crouch as I enter his space. We exchange blows and I grab his arm. I twist around, putting my back to his chest and pull hard in an attempt to flip him over my head.
“Ow.” He growls and grabs me. His lifts me in the air.
“OH SHIT!” I yell as my arms flail and my legs kick out. He throws me over his head and I somersault across the grass, landing on my back with my arms and legs sprawled out. “Ow.” I groan.
Ok. Maybe I don’t have superpowers.
“Come on, Wes. This is supposed to be a fight.” I raise my head and he’s walking toward me with a smirk on his face.
I hold up a hand. “William…” I roll to my stomach and try to get to my feet. “Just wait…hold on!”
He grabs the back of my shirt, spins me around and pulls me to his face. “Grey told me not to hold back, so let’s get those powers out.”
My brows go up. “Grey said what?!” My head whips to Grey and he smirks at me, giving me a little wave.
I turn back to William just as he swings a punch. I duck under it and run out of reach. “I'M GONNA KILL YOU, GREY!” I shout as I try to avoid getting my ass handed to me.
“Ok. I get it. I can do this.” I bounce on my toes across the grass as I prepare for Williams attack.
He rushes me and I haul out a punch. It lands square between his pecks muscles. He flies backwards through the air and he lands on a bunch of sparing recruits.
I raise my fist in front of my eyes and look at William trying to untangle himself from the groaning fighters.
Grey bounces to me. “Wes! What the hell?”
“I don’t know.” I say in amazement.
He leans to me. “Do it again.” He smirks.
William gets to his feet and he runs at me again. When he enters my zone, I uppercut him. He flies up and lands on his back.
“Holy shit!” Grey yells.
William scowls at me as he rubs his jaw.
Grey puts his hands up. “William, buddy. Don’t get angry. Remember, find your center. Happy thoughts.”
William tilts his head forward, cracks his neck and growls.
Grey looks at me with wide eyes. “Shit…um…Good luck.” He hits my chest and runs away.
“Fuck you, Grey!” I glare at him.
I brace myself as William comes in on the offensive. I hit him with a left, right and a left again. I grab his arm and throw him over me. He bounces across the grass.
I laugh. “Yeah baby! What you got, super wolf?!”
“Wes, don’t be a dick!” Grey calls out.
I turn my head to him and flip him the bird. I turn back just in time to see William coming at me like a freight train. He grabs me and throws me over his shoulder. I land on my feet and my sneakers slide backwards in the grass for about five feet.
I look down at my feet and back at William. “What?”
He runs at me again and I leap over his head. I land on my feet and spin around. Holy shit, I can fly?
A crowd of Alphas has started to gather. They whisper to each other as they point to us.
William goes in for another attack and I duck down and shove my shoulder into his chest. He flies backwards like I hit him with a battering ram, two feet off the ground. The crowd parts as he soars through them. He lands in the grass and rolls about 20 feet away.
I square again and wait for him to get up as the crowd gawks.
Grey runs over and stands at Williams side. He leans down and checks his face. He stands straight and looks my way. “He’s done!” He throws his arms out to the sides.
“Bullshit!” I yell back.
Grey reaches down, picks up Williams arm and drops it. He looks at me and holds his arms out.
I look at my hands. “I have superpowers?”
I break into a run toward Grey. “Oh my god! I have superpow…” I trip on my feet and land on my face.
Grey doubles over, breaking into hysterics and pointing at me.
I scowl at him. “SHUT UP!!”
